Hi guys

why the sudden increase in difficulty?! What's going on?

We had a bulldozer start up on one of the pools a while back. It destabilized the difficulty/block reward but they have ceased operations and the situation is re-stabilizing now. Expect block rewards to increase again soon. The difficulty has already gone down but the block rewards tend to lag behind.

No problems yet. Away from my PC right now, but when I was messing around with the program, all I could think about was how to properly structure such a help file lol

I'll be brushing up on my HTML tonight, for sure!

Now I'm more focused on writing help documentation, than breaking the thing as originally intended Grin

Has anyone else noticed a large drop in rewards today, over at pom.m-hash?

The last few days, i was netting (an average of) ~15-20 XMG/day.  Before then, I would run my miners off and on, but still receive around 10 coin.

My balance right now is .5, if that. I really put those poor little cores to work, too!

I read and read few pages and get the same and same:
- 51% will kill the coin
- 51% will makes other blocks orphan;
- 51% will make the price to hit bottom;
- 51% will invite the Big Bad wolf (not to be mistaken with Wolf0 Cool ) into our community;

Come on guys this could be true only if XMG were PoW only coin...

But magi is not,

More than 64% of the blocks are PoS.

How the 51% attack will be succesfull when 2 out of 3 blocks are generated from bagholders like me Wink and not from Buldozers?

Hello to everybody,weekend is a no computer time for me, so I'm trying to catch up with all these discussions  Grin

This is exactly the point, how can you orphan all the blockchain if it's generated with PoS? You should have 51% of hashpower + 51% of already mined coins?
Btw, I have some old theoretical issues with the 51% attack that always made me shake my head.
My very humble point of view on 51% attack (or on SUSY, austerity and other stuff) is BULLSHIT! unless someone proves it.

Let's keep it real and skyrocket magi to mars, so we can buy an isle on Polynesia and settle down Tongue Cheesy

Proud and humble member of MAGI community.

My very humble point of view on 51% attack is BULLSHIT! unless someone proves it.

I am pleased that there are others prepared to call "foul" on this one.

I can't find a single scholarly article to back it up. All references lead back to a single source, often quoted verbatim. I remain a skeptic. I require proof.

One has to ask why it has never been demonstrated. Could that be because it is practically impossible? As I understand it, an attacker needs to 1) solve a minimum of two consecutive transaction blocks before anybody else does AND 2) convince the rest of the network to cooperate. Logically, it falls down at stage 1 because no matter how much hashpower you have, you cannot guarantee that someone else will not solve the block before you.
