(English native speakers, please let me know if something is completely wrong)

"How to be reach" guide should be something like "get rich quick" guide Wink

Sweet Spot is not my software either, although it does incorporate my compiled miners for Windows if you get the "with miners" version. That one belongs to NeedIfFindIt.

He uses my miners. I use his data feed for my variant of Sweet Spot.

There's symmetry for you Cheesy

i fix both stuff Spexx, thanks

and sorry about the reference for the software, i had the impression that i corrected it but it seems that i forgot it (or forgot to click update Tongue). Can't wait for your new software to come and update the guide!

Since we are talking about mining i think it's the correct time to share an article that i wrote, intended to help the new users. The article is written having in mind the absolute newcomers and only them, you can have it somewhere in your bookmarks and share it every time someone new is asking for instructions about mining or introduce them in XMG in general.

Well done thdim! i will send you a reward for this!! Smiley
People asked for a guide and this is a real nice one!!

thank you Magic, your reward was more than generous Smiley

For those who choose new pool instead of NONCE:
I've tried 3 or 4 and stopped at xmgpool.cf. Its hashrate is low, but profit is higher than at suprnova for example.
Do not give suprnova 51%+ of network power, support small pools Wink

I really like the CoinMagi pool at pom.m-hash, but for today I'll throw some hashes this way and see how it returns  Grin

How did you get on ?

I have been using http://pom.m-hash.com/ for some time and I got 60 coins yesterday(200 KH/s)

What do you mean by 'how did you get on'?

How did I fare, or how did I get in?

To answer the second question, I signed up... Grin

But 60 coins? HOW?  I'm running at 100 - 110 KH/s and would be lucky to get 30 coins, or half of what you get....what CPU(s) are you running?

I running a couple of old ES Xeons with a total or 32 cores.  Today I mined 41 coins which is still great for me!

Observation:

Since Noncepool XMG pool was closed, we have "lost" around 6 to 8 Mh/s (difficult to be precise) hashrate from miners who have not connected to a new pool yet. This has put the total nethashrate almost right in the middle of the sweet spot (there's that expression again) and the current XMG block reward is almost at maximum, hovering just under 45 XMG.

Happy days. Fill yer boots Cheesy

Congratulations to all previous users of Noncepool XMG pool. You now seem to have found a new pool to work with and we are back up to the old total nethashrate.

What a shame that nearly all of you chose to switch to Suprnova. You just handed over 50% of the total nethashrate to Suprnova despite what has been posted here.

any info relating to this? i have installed the optimized Wolf miner on several clean installs of Windows 8. Windows defender is quarantining the miner with the following info:

https://i.imgur.com/141GQYs.png

It's a rather nasty trojan. Any insights or thoughts whether this is valid or a false positive? I downloaded the miner following the links on page 1 in the op.

It is definitely a false positive and there is no malware in that miner. Windows Defender has simply found a certain code sequence that matches something in its database, but that does not mean that the code is malicious. False positives are the biggest single problem for all AV products and very few of them take any real steps to reduce the problem. Here is the Virustotal report for that file:-

https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/46eda99bb459b8c72afb1a718baefedd75ee41d9e7faef5ee5948ca810f8630f/analysis/

AV software and mining software always make very poor bedfellows, but Windows Defender is a very poor AV indeed and you might as well just switch it off and reduce your system overheads. The only AV that I recommend these days is Emsisoft AntiMalware. In any event, it is best to add a folder exception to whatever AV solution you may be using so that it ignores the mining software. If you are truly paranoid, then run the mining software with Avast AV installed (with Deepscan enabled) - that will run the software in a sandbox and then declare that it is clean, since it will not exhibit any untoward behavior.

The bigger problem is that miner is out of date and slower than my miners for Windows. Look for the links to my miners in the OP or use Sweet Spot, which incorporates my miners.

Here is the Virustotal report for my 64 bit generic Windows miner:-

https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/8db6976a5834ca99f554a4c215ab9142985594efa1d8e7779a9377ad682f5901/analysis/

Hope this helps.

Edit: For anybody not convinced about just how bad some AV products are, try this exercise:-

1. Install MalwareBytes AntiMalware (Free edition or Pro if you have it)
2. Create a folder C:\Users\<your username>\Appdata\Local\Temp\ztmp (Windows Vista,7,8 - differs for XP)
3. Create a simple blank text file in that folder called t25116.txt or t25117.txt
4. Scan that file with MalwareBytes Antimalware via a right-click context menu scan
5. See what it finds - looks very alarming indeed I think you will agree
6. Rename that same blank text file to t25116.dummy and scan it again
7. Comes up clean, as you would expect for a blank text file
8. Copy that file to your Desktop then rename it back to t25116.txt and rescan
9. Comes up clean

Now is that piss-poor or what?

Just reviewing something I had my eye on as an example of how not to design an altcoin. Looked good at the start, if a little unoriginal, but very soon the cracks started to appear and now it has ended in disaster. Makes for a sorry read if you have the time.

The start: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=985182.0
The beginning of the end: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=985182.1000
The end: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=985182.3100

Lack of planning. Lack of vision. Lack of prior economic analysis and prediction. The result was inevitable.

Sad

Thanks. Comments like that make it all worthwhile.

The miner was compiled using a compiler suite based on Msys/Mingw and using a custom version of the GMP math library, built solely for compiling this one program - minerd.exe. The code contains multiple streams to support just about every processor architecture out there capable of 64 bit and has been fine-tuned to produce the best possible mining performance. It took about 40 iterations i.e compiles/benchmarks to find the optimum settings, so you can appreciate the amount of work put into it.

Happy hashing Cheesy
