From twitter:

Now tracking @Poloniex's @monerocurrency market. $XMR #XMR #BTC

https://cryptowat.ch/poloniex/xmrbtc

Nice ! thanks for the share. Surprised, they added this after almost 2 years of XMR existence while ETH, DASH etc were already there.

3 months = $10

9 months = $100

For the first 1.5 years, Bitcoin also did not go anywhere at all.

Then it rose 640000% in less than a year.

For XMR, it would mean going to $5000 and higher this year.

LOL 5000$ and higher is really optimistic.

Then 10$ would be more realistic and 100$ when bitcoin will go 1000+$

I read Risto said that the similar ROI btc had in 2011 would mean XMR to go to 5000 usd.

lol i doubt it was that much you guys gave them ?

i think the wall is fake but this does not matter as long as it is on the books. you just need to clear it without any warning in one go  Cheesy
support is still very healthy and the amount of shorts means something healthy too.

still i would prefer to see them get burnt but thats just me.

anyway somewhere else this went around too today:

dont know if real or fake

Somebody knows when Zcash will launch and if there will be a ICO? Or only premine? how will they distribute?

And When Zcash launches, it will be a threat for coins like XMR and DASH, how do you guys see this?

As with all software, no one really knows when it will launch including them, but they say later this year. According to their stated plans, there will not be an ICO, just mining, along with the deferred premine (mining tax) for insiders.

Same story as any other potential competition:

1. Could be a threat
2. Could fail.
3. Could serve a distinct niche
4. Could expand the market.

Among other possibilities.

I am saying 5 million marketcap for XMR is nothing.
100 million marketcap neither is nothing. No currency has such a low market cap. I am not familiar with Krona of Iceland but I guess the marketcap of even that small currency based on fishing industry is more than 1 billion usd.

I spend a lot of time in Iceland and have a place there.  The Icelandic fishing industry is worth about 5 billion in USD exports.

Annual GDP is probably in excess of 15 billion in USD terms.

Currency market cap must be far in excess of $1 billion USD - although I can't put a figure on it.

I don't think it's really appropriate to discuss the "market cap" of actual/state-backed currencies, but, the M2 money supply of Iceland is 969.60 ISK Billion ( http://www.tradingeconomics.com/iceland/money-supply-m2 ), and each krona is worth 0.0078 US Dollar, so that would put the "market cap" of liquidish money at about 7.6B USD.

The more concurrency in crypto privacy space the better. If zcash will provide superior technology and become better and safer option for privacy oriented users than xmr, than its good. Privacy wins.

Some additional TA, it near perfectly retraced to the 61.8% level:

friends, look at the ether chart. looking a lot like bitcoin in 2014.

there's a lot of dumb money on polo right now.

be careful. i'd rather see them lose than you. i would be a seller around .0035 to .004

reasonably good call i'd say

Yes Z.cash may have a very slight edge under ideal conditions over Monero with ring CT in the privacy / fungibility area; however there is a lot more to Monero than privacy / fungibility.

There is the issue of blocksize and scaling that is currently plaguing Bitcoin. Monero has a viable solution for this. I have not seen a solution to this issue from Z.Cash at all. So privacy / fungibility alone may not win. What good is a minuscule gain in  privacy / fungibility if one has to wait for many hours or even a day for a transaction to confirm as has recently been the case with Bitcoin?

There is also the fact that ringCT will bring multi signature transactions to Monero.
Quote
4.4 Ring Multisignature
Note that a simple version of a t of m of n ring-multisignature can be done with the MLSAG signatures. This allows a group of
m participants to create a multi-signature such that t out of m must sign for the signature to be accepted as valid, and in addition, it is signer ambiguous which m keys are the participants out of the n keys. ...  An expanded writeup of the ring-multisignature is in the works
from Shen Noether, Adam Mackenzie and Monero Core Team in https://lab.getmonero.org/pubs/MRL-0005.pdf. Again does Z.cash have a solution?

Edit: Added Again does Z.cash have a solution? and ? after Bitcoin.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card
