The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

They probably meant this:

Now, MetaStable owns about a dozen different cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (which one of the fund's co-founders, Lucas Ryan, originally received for free in 2011), Ethereum, and Monero (of which the fund holds nearly 1%, or about $6 million worth, of all outstanding coins), according to a pitch deck seen by Fortune.

Is that how they enter?   Roll Eyes  Woulda figured they would have bought it off rptelia offexchange.

I thought maybe it had something to do w the btc-e situation going down right now.

I was hoping it would stay cheap thru the end of the year with the emissions schedule drying up so I could buy some more.  But btc-e not having any Monero's is actually incredibly bullish.  If anyone has access to those private keys and start moving shit around it could be a bloodbath on Eth & BTC

It is very interesting, why this guy/concern whatever is buying for 2 Million right now at one time.

One possibility is that he is an idiot, what I doubt.
The other possibility is that he is seeing something coming what we do not see.

Anyway, fantastic news for all holders

The Big Bit Theft, the Dark Web and the Sleazy Life of the Russian Who Detected the FBI in Halkidiki
Vassilis Kyriacoulis

38-year-old Russian Alexander Vinnik enjoyed his vacation with his partner in one of the most expensive hotels in Ouranoupoli in Halkidiki. He had not realized the slightest of the FBI steps he had been watching for months, informing the Greek prosecution authorities of his action. Yesterday after a surprise operation he was arrested and today he was handcuffed to the prosecutor of the Thessaloniki Court of Appeals in order to start the proceedings for his extradition to the United States.

In the traces of the massive attack on Mt. Gox

Characteristically, according to the documents sent to the Greek authorities on the bitcoins exchange platform behind which the 38-year-old Russian is hiding, a large part of the "stolen" removed from Mt. Gox , which by the end of 2014 managed 70% of the volume of bitocoin trades worldwide, but after the attack it received declared bankrupt.

The trial of MT's CEO recently kicked off in Tokyo. Gox Mark Karpelès , who accused the hackers of the 850,000 bitcoin, worth about $ 500 million, lost in 2014. According to documents that reached 306,853 bitcoins stolen after the attack on Mt. Gox entered the BTC-e purses. According to the same documents another part of the stolen from the attack on Mt. Gox arrived at a San Francisco exchange office.

"One of the biggest" money laundering "on the Internet

As stated in the documents sent by the US Department of Justice, BTC-e is "one of the largest entities in the field of electronic money laundering and money laundering in the world". According to the US authorities, "illegal proceeds come from a number of high-level piracy, ransom repayment systems, drug trafficking and tax systems." As the US authorities have estimated on this platform since 2011, 12.5 million bitcoins have been filed and blamed, and blame the 38-year-old Russian and his colleagues for spilling at least $ 4 billion!
Corrupt agents

Through the platform behind which the Russians are accused of allegedly scamming money, two corrupt US federal agents Carl Force and Shaun Bridges , who were accused of robbing millions of dollars worth of Silk Road , This site was one of the largest black drug markets in the so-called "dark internet".
The trails at Abu Dhabi's luxury hotel

The FBI had closely watched 38-year-old Russian at least over a year ago, as its papers refer to May 2016 as a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi, as it traced its digital footprints through a WebMoney account.
He denies the accusations

Today, in front of the prosecutor in Thessaloniki, 38-year-old Russian denies any interference with the accusations attributed to him by the US authorities, and he said he was amazed at his arrest. The Appeals Council is expected to meet in the coming time, which is required to give its opinion on the request for extradition to the United States, and then the final decision will be taken by the Minister for Justice. The maximum period of detention by the Greek authorities may not exceed two months.

Now the recent XMR spike seems more than related to the btc-e case. Some unarrested admin of btc-e has entered big time.

Let us enjoy this beautiful chart. Everything ist going down, but monero has got over 10% plus. I do not think this will hold, but it makes me happy, that the coin I believe in most is in the spotlight right now.

Moonero Thoughts - 7.25.17

https://www.tradingview.com/chart/XMRBTC/y5Txjvwe-Moonero-Thoughts-7-25-17

Hi all! New to this, just trying to publish some (very) amateur TA thoughts and review/reflect in a couple of days/weeks. My thoughts for XMRBTC 14.84% as follows:

- Potential E2E trade on the 4HR Ichimoku Cloud .
- This could also make for a breakout of the current trendline , likely around 0.016.
- Bullish TK 2.08% Cross ~1 day ago.
- Bottomed out on the StochRSI (4HR).
- If we zoom out, we can see that it has a tendency to retrace to the 0.5 Fib on the daily. I expect this to happen should we pass the 0.236 Fib level.
- Very strong buy side.

Taking a long position on XMRBTC 14.84% and going to see if this plays out. Any feedback would be appreciated Smiley

Someone market bought XMR worth around 2 million US dollar in just a second.  Shocked

massive buy to enter the market as quickly as possible on the same day one of the guys running BTC-E who was possibly involved in the hack of Mt Gox gets arrested. Things that make you go hmmmm.

Yeahhhhh ... I'm looking at zCash, zCoin & Dash.  Surprised he's not buying them all up if he's in a huge rush.

This could turn into an interesting dynamic.  Are the exchanges that receive stolen coins on exit scams or someone running from the law in this situation obligated to turn over their received bitcoin to the law even though someone has withdrawn the exchanged asset?  How long does this responsibility follow them?

So within a very short time frame some big players in the space have been taken down because of fungibility issues: Alphabay, Bitmixer and now BTC-e. Never had to use these services but this might finally wake up the discussion about the importance of fungibility.

- Pay any Bitcoin address privately with a little help of Monero.

I'm not sure about the exchange situation, but if they had been using the most fungible coin (Monero), they wouldn't have to worry about it.
