Is gemz a decentralized app? or just the token system?
messaging is completely p2p or saved on a server?

Don't take this as 100% accurate but the app is based on a telegram so your basically using messenger with Telegram so they use end to end encryption, you could find more detail reading about Telegram.

The token is based on counterparty so again if you want to know about that then go to counterparty, but yes its decentralised.

There is some element of decentralised for the airdrop and maintenance of the app, how much that is I don't know. but your communication and your tokens are ultimately not actually based on the app but the two projects I mentioned. So for all intents and purposes yes its decentralised with no info stored.

I don't see why spending time and effort on a clone of an existing messenger. only to be able to transfer cryptocurrencies in-app?
So much work is done on decentralization of services, y not build a messaging dapp? makes much more sense.

Gemz will be much more attractive as a pure p2p dapp.

Originally it was an original app, it was decided to use the Telegram app as an open source platform. I have positive and negative feelings about it but also the Team have said they will only use it as long as it serves their purposes. It's actually mainly psychological if you think about it though, no need to invent the wheel if someone already has. The big plus is a telegram already has millions of users so for them to switch to gems means they can still use their contacts, there is nothing really negative about using Telgram apart from as I said psychological.

I would research more what Gems is, cause the big thing about Gems is not the app or even the token but the attention model that means the user is paid for allowing targeted advertising. And even as a straight app that sends crypto i have yet to see one that does it anywhere near as elegantly as gems and has btc and other coins as future currencies in the app. It's the killer btc app in my mind, and if it gets a few million users, whether it uses Telegram or not , it simply won't matter.

But when other messaging dapps will soon appear, I don't think that the attention model will be enough for user who are scared for their privacy to use this app.

Mainstream will keep using terrible apps like Whatsapp, while the other will use the most secure ones.

Getgems security for communication is very secure and enough for all users, way more secure than Whatsapp or Line. Read everything about its security https://telegram.org/faq#q-how-secure-is-telegram, even the devs can't decipher your content.

Now Getgems aims primarily the average person, these are billions of users. Those who are scared to use apps are a very tiny amount. Explain an average youth who uses Whatsapp, Instagram, Snapchat etc. about using a decentralized systeem, you will notice they don't care. I use even Whatsapp for years and never had any privacy related issues.

The attention economy model in Getgems is one of a kind. If the app knows your interests, commercial/e-commerce companies can target you easier and you get ads suited to your interest where you get paid for. I don't know how you should be 'scared' for your privacy if you show your interests or age etc. The average person doesn't have any issue with that.

Pay for a commercial company page / e-commerce

The traditional entities within the Gems network are private individuals. Any user can join Gems and connect with their friends. Just like how Facebook grew to accommodate businesses as an entity within the network, Gems might make the same decision as well. Registering a new user as a commercial entity / business is a good candidate for a paid action.

How will company / business users be different from regular users? First of all, the profile page will have a commercial orientation and show relevant details about the business - such as an address / map location, website, logo, phone number, email, link to mobile app, opening hours, etc. In addition, business users will be geared towards e-commerce. Since the Gems network allows for easy fund transfers between users, it will be convenient to use for light e-commerce (1-click purchases).

Deeper e-commerce capabilities will allow businesses to present a goods/services catalog, support checkout with Gems and provide light order management.

Pay for commercial company page / e-commerce is just one advertisement model. There is Pay for sending personal unsolicited messages, Pay for sending private message ads, Pay for priority messages, Pay for a sponsored appearance in the contact list / user directory. So if i'm sending a friend of mine a priority message, i don't understand how he should be afraid for his privacy, it doesn't make any sense.

if you go to getgems messenger wallet inside the app, and you touch-hold the gem, you will copy to clipboard the address, same if you make simple touch and then touch-hold the bitcoin one, you will realize that they are different of course, but here's my question, why when i login to counterwallet.io the only one shown is the bitcoin one??? im interested in the gemz one, how can a fix that??? besides now after they apparently have been in maintenance or something, it shows gemz, before it only shows btc and xcp, now it shows gemz too, but there are only 74 gemz, and i saw that the address is locked, read only, and it has a date of 2014??? here's a screenshot http://lovieninternet.ml/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/112.png

I think you must simply send gemz from your app to your counterwallet wallet (in a new address or al old one it's the same). You don't see the gemz stored in your app just because they are off chain.

I think you must simply send gemz from your app to your counterwallet wallet (in a new address or al old one it's the same). You don't see the gemz stored in your app just because they are off chain.

Was already accepted by app store but an improved version was sent for approval and is due hopefully to hit the app store literally any day now.

We had to do some code changes due to the release of iOS version 8.3. This unfortunately restarted the approval review period. The wait will be over soon.

On the good side we used this opportunity to add support for iPads

We are waiting to get our hands on one and than will start exploring this option.
(Note: GetGems web client is being worked on and is higher on the to-do list)
