Or is the main issue the TCP stack overhead, and using seven VM's is a way to 'cheat' around it ?
Yes, the more servers you have the more TCP stacks you have.
Also, because eleuthria will be placing load balancers in front of each VM an individual VM can be brought down for service with out affecting the system that much as a whole.
It's kind of like spreading your eggs in different baskets.

thanks for the reply; how is running all seven vm's on one machine and one network connection 'spreading your eggs around' ?

Legacy signature from 2011:
All rates with Phoenix 1.50 / PhatK
5850 - 400 MH/s  |  5850 - 355 MH/s | 5830 - 310 MH/s  |  GTX570 - 115 MH/s | 5770 - 210 MH/s | 5770 - 200 MH/s

There will be two sets of these VMs eventually, one for US and one for EU.  It's not as resistant as the current setup (6 servers spread across 6 different ISPs/physical locations), but it will be more user friendly, more efficient, and cost me about 1/5th what I pay right now, while having more capacity and easier expansion.  It will speed up user stat retrieval and block synchronization dramatically as well.  And as said by Carnth, an individual VM could either go down from a crash, or be taken down for an update, and miners would never know.

hi

this last round seems to be stuck in a loop,

hi

yep, something is wrong with the worker stats.

ADDED: worker "Shares - this round" have gone to zero three times in the last 55 minutes, yet round time has not changed.

EDIT: Others already noticed.

Something is wrong with current block time stats. It says its 4h long, but my workers made only 80 shares each, 240 shares total @1.2 GHash speed. It didnt refresh I guess.

ZOMG!  The stats are wrong!

Yeah, it happens fairly often.  Half the posts in this thread are people either reporting it, or going into a panic about it, each and every time it happens.

It'll be fixed in a few hours, when he wakes up, just like the 30 times before.

Server is still accepting shares, and last time the situation was similar and it was because of apache lock up.

I hope this time it is because of apache again...

Other strange thing. My card stopped 30 minutes ago due to verification failed error, but page showed that last accepted share was 6h ago (when I checked hour ago it was working as usual)

ohh fearless leader, can you provide an update to ease everyones mind. It looks like the pool is still mining and has found a few blocks in the last 8 hours eventhough it says out current round time is 8+ hrs. Just hope nothing is lost and you are able to post our coins to our account.
