Just a short time away. My estimates are: a tough couple of weeks with halving and not much change in Bitcoin, but then the price will shoot up.

Halving is in about 3 hours from now. In about 1.5 hours from now I'll do a CKDB restart - about 15:30 UTC No miners will be affected. The web site will have lotsa '?' for about 10 minutes. There's 3 important changes in this one ... in increasing order of importance: 1) End a shift on a halving - so future PPS calculations will not have to fudge a shift that crosses the halving boundary 2) Generate keysummary data so I can properly check luck for e.g. not-so-nice-hash 3) Change Akatsuki to Ako If we get lots of blocks between now and then I'll repost to say when the restart will be

Just a short time away. My estimates are: a tough couple of weeks with halving and not much change in Bitcoin, but then the price will shoot up. Thinking along the same lines. I see a drop in value, a decline in hash power generally over the network over a week period then a strange week or so until the difficulty and network hash rate sorts itself out. Then I see green and lots of it all over the Kano dash and more happy times to come. Unless of course some bugger in China turns on a super factory full of S9's then we are all in it. And happy halving day to you all.

Eighteen blocks left until 1/2 ing.
I have been catching up on my readings in the forum and several miners have called it quits & selling their gear... citing rewards halving mainly, expensive & un-ROI-able S9 and couldn't justify power bill etc. I couldn't see the rationale here because they can upgrade to S9 which basically gives 2-5 to 3 times more hash for lower power than S7, Avalons etc. Yes, block rewards is less now but TX amount should increase since its more difficult to find a block. I think the most important variable that we can depend on is Kano's track record reporting on average we will see 100 blocks every 23 plus days. My question now is ... will the increased (or lower) difficulty change the 100 block mark to 46 days (23 x 2)? Any insights from experts?

The S7s are still and will still be profitable, just not as much. I have 43 S7s for sale right now. If they sell great, if they do not, great. I do not think that there will a big difference in the difficulty level from historical averages. The ones getting out of mining are small. The biggest difference will be in the supply and demand; furthermore, drastic changes in the price of Bitcoin. The next 2 weeks will be a settling in period. I think that Bitcoin will have a dramatic increase by September and by the end of the year! My thoughts.

Yeah! I was hoping we'd get at least one more before the halving. Hell, we've got two hours left. Plenty of time for a block party. My neighbor raises hens. He's kind of partier so I think he might still be asleep at this hour. First a morning raid, then it's chicken time

The efficiency increase should easily cover losses on a one to one basis. Still reading some posts on the S9's not sure if they are stable just yet. Fingers crossed!
