Uh...maybe I misread something, but...you can't append a worker name after a BTC address, can you? Don't you have to setup a user account, then workers?
I dunno...I've never mined direct to an address like that.
Yep you can. From the front page ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Registered username or Bitcoin address, followed by a dot '.' or an underscore '_', followed by a worker name.

Sorry if this was asked before but when a thread has 1049 pages, doing your homework can be a bit tiresome. I even googled it and didn't find it. How long does it take for one's account to be registering in the CKPool? My Kano.is account is also just about 2.5 hours old now. I did everything that I understood it said, like creating a worker for each machine but I didn't seem to be getting any readings on pool interface, just in the text box area it said I was mining and getting shares and my hashrate. I am pointing my antminers to http://stratum.kano.is:3333, using btc addresses with _worker1, _worker2 I didn't register anything else on the pool interface, usual sign-up log in procedures. There appears to be an issue with the iphone application at the moment: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1344360.msg16877188#msg16877188Sorry, I was reusing a post on the monitor thread. This is just about first time user hookup in an Antminer s3....it seems to be registering but not with the website interface and not with other apps like the CKPool Monitor. I've edited it to make it more appropriate. Also from the front page, if you want to see user stats when you only register with a BTC address and not a username: If you mine only with a bitcoin address you can view user and worker stats: e.g. http://www.kano.is/address.php?a=1KanoiBupPiZfkwqB7rfLXAzPnoTshAVmbhttp://www.kano.is/worker.php?a=1KanoiBupPiZfkwqB7rfLXAzPnoTshAVmb_workerRegistering a username will allow you to see more details on the web site.

I dunno that I want to go into any details...no sense, really...but I want to share that I think Canaan has the best support staff and mechanism around...at least compared to the competition, but really...very good. Because of their generous, patient, and timely approach I was able to figure out that the problem with the A6 connections cooking (the same thing started to happen on this new replacement unit, but I caught it immediately and I think saved the box...it still hashes OK). The pigtails I was using on the newer A6s all came from the same place, and they were a separate batch from all others I've used. They were the ones that caused the fails; the substance used to affix the leads into the male PCIe plugs breaks down under what would be considered normal current flow and heat. It smells like boiling Brasso when it starts to melt. I've been able to mitigate it for the time being by doubling up the leads to the plugs with known good material. I'll build some entirely new ones when I get a little free time. Anyway...Angela and Jon have been super, and have treated me exceptionally well. We (miners of all flavors) may have a real, true corporate partner here. MIne on... ![Kiss](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/kiss.gif)

I noticed recently (last few weeks) that they did a redesign on their ticket system, and a couple of other things. Their order system is recently changed as well (for the better, it would appear, in both instances). I think they're probably pretty busy at the moment trying to catch up with their own success. We saw that often when I was with the bank, looking at prospective factors/accts receivable credit lines for mfrs.
I'm interested to know from some of youz guyz if you paid for your 721s via PayPal, or wire, or BTC. I had to pay w/PayPal for the A6s. Just curious.
Onward.

So other than the fact that one is currently in stock and the other is not, when you look at the raw numbers when compared to bitmains antminer to canaans 721
AvalonMiner 721 USD$888 (USD$148 /TH/s) 6 TH/s at 900W (150 W per TH/s)
vs.
Antminer S9-20 USD$1,550 (USD$119 /TH/s) 13 TH/s at 1,274W (98 W per TH/s)
There is no comparison, it is night and day. You get more then twice the miner for your money. Now I will say I have never mined with an Avalon, and I have always had really good success with antminers. As a read through the comments I see several people buying them which is great, but what is the factor that is making you pull the trigger and spend extra money. This is an honest question from those who have mined with Avalons, I want to know what makes them special enough to get that premium price.
Thanks

While the avalon hardware is popular with the pool operator here, I think your question is veering way offtopic for the pool thread itself.

If I add my rma and repair and spare part cost for the s9 it is about 670. while I only purchased 6 s9's for about 10,000 so I go from 10,000 to 10,670 and my down time was a lot at least 330 lost in coins mined. so I paid 11,000 for 70th. this is 1936 for 12 th so 157 usd a th s9 vs 162 usd a th a7 now if I get failures and down time the A7 will be more then 162 usd a th but at the moment in my case the 157 vs 162 is close enough

Although off topic, I will make comment about Avalon vs Bitmain since there is a bit of it going on. Firstly, there really is no one other than these 2 companies out there. Pity about that, since more products mean more competition, but that's the way it is at the moment. The reality of it all will be to see how the A7s perform vs the S9s and what changes over the next 6 months for both companies. I don't expect Bitmain to change. Avalon has already changed due to being bought by a large company and we'll see shortly how that has affected them. Bitmain has clearly abused their power as the top honcho in producing a product that is not worthy of it's price due to reliability and support problems - and expected lifetime. The Avalon A6 was a solidly built mining device and hopefully the A7 will be as good. We will see. The only real issue I know of with the A6: is if you run it in a too hot environment - however, that's really not something that anyone should consider unexpected with mining hardware (or any computer hardware) Hopefully Avalon will be good dealing with their customers with the A7s. The Bitmain stories in here dealing with S9s have certainly not been in any way a positive comment about Bitmain. If you only look at $ vs THs then you have clearly never mined before in your life, and you're about to get a rude shock if you buy mining hardware from anyone. However, mining is not "Buy device, plug it in, forget it" - that really is ignoring reality. In Bitmain's S9s case we've got plenty of people pointing out that is far from true, problems with them, problem dealing with Bitmain, and a clearly stated short expected lifetime from Bitmain - 3 months warranty. We'll see what Avalon's A7s are like. OK that's about as objective as I can be ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

OK that's about as objective as I can be ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) I agree with everything you have said, and like many here have mined with just about every major players hardware in the past, including the A6, which was reliable if not a little noisy. I've had my own problems with an S9, however I'd like to point out that maybe, the first sign of what you say about Avalon being bought by a large company is already playing out... AvalonMiner 721 includes a 90-day warranty, starting from the date goods are received. Canaan guarantees a 90 days warranty from the first date you receive the goods. We promise to replace defective or faulty parts with new parts, but mining earnings will not be compensated. Buyers pay inbound shipping and we will pay the return shipping. Please note that we are not responsible for any loss caused by customs delays, losses or charges.

Mining is hard and full of risks.
I finally got my hands on cheap power and now the newest gear with the best efficiency ant miner s9s break a lot.
So cheap power does not make me a big winner.
I will sit down and do a final break down of them when the time comes but they suck.
Kanos' pool earned me a full coin extra right before the ½ ing we were smoking hot.
That extra coin almost pulled me back to even.
Since post ½ ing we are about even on luck.
But the lucky streak right before the ½ ing was nice.
We could use a red hot nov. maybe 105%.
