Core typically does a good job estimating fees, but I almost always check against https://bitcoinfees.21.co to see how the network looks.  For example, right now Core is giving me an estimate of 0.0007BTC per kb; however, the website is suggesting 100000 satoshi per kb.  If I were to send a transaction now, I'd probably use the higher estimate to fast track it, especially since my last reply there are now more than 64k unconfirmed transactions.

Cool. I learned something new...and useful...today.  Kiss

EDIT: ...and again, that's why we all stick around here, methinks...

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)

FYI, if you're thinking about a hardware wallet at some point, the Trezor's web application also uses 21.co for calculating fee predictions automatically.

Thanks for the thought, but I will likely never consider a hardware wallet. I'm fine with Core on my hardware on my network. We've had nui (plenty) discussion on that one, I think.  Grin

That looks like about the right amount of coin for your Canaan order.  Were you finally successful in convincing them to accept btc?

I will not confirm or deny  that .

I will confirm that paypal was politely denied. So I asked about BTC or CC for payment.

I do suggest that if you want to buy an Avalon 721  with BTC or CC you could ask politely as being nice can not hurt.

So far it (the btc payment of 2.74 )  is stuck and i am annoyed that some A--- hole decided to spam the blockchain.

Stupid of them to be so coy with regards to payment.  I was looking forward to getting an Avalon and pointing it here, but I don't beg companies to take my money.  They shouldn't be making this so difficult, and they still haven't given me any other option than wire transfer, so I guess not.  Huh

I have had a similar experience re ordering, and I second your recommendation, Phil...other than getting the tx stuck, of course...

Being nice NEVER hurts.  Kiss

EDIT: ...and now I know why that transaction got stuck. My partner's core went offline just before the spam attack. When he came back on, the jam was happening. Crap.

I hope it wasn't me playing about with my wallet settings trying to consolidate these individual mBTC for free that spammed the network. I can't find a way to cancel the requests using Electrum but I don't think I did that many anyway.

Hard to say whether this is good or bad, on the one hand we have miners complaining that their transactions won't go through but on the other hand we have miners shouting "yippee" because a block was paid 13.6 BTC rather than the 12.5 BTC that you get for an empty block. I'm not even sure that it's spam, could be Coinbase users moving their stashes out of the clutches of US government.

May we live in interesting times.

Hi all..first post here but been reading the posts for some time. Anyway just wanted to get some suggestions about the wallet I'm using for my pool payments. I've been mining with this pool for right around a month just using a btc address instead of registering. I know the benefits of registering but that's not my issue. When I started and currently I'm using a Coinbase wallet address for pool payments and while I haven't mined within the period of time the IRS is asking for records of I still have some concerns as to if it would be a good idea to continue to use Coinbase as my wallet or if there are valid reasons that I should dump my balance over to another wallet platform. Open to suggestions and have appreciated the advice I have found here already thanks in advance .

So ... I have an A7 mining on the pool right now Smiley
I'll add a menu a bit later so people can see my workers - if anyone is interested.
I'll post here when it's done.

Miner is actually no where near as loud as I expected - and it's 26C here
(and I have it in the laundry which is about 28C after running the dryer an hour ago)
It's hopping around 2300 to 2500 RPM for me - in the middle to low 60's dBA (i.e. certainly under 70 dBA)
It's temperature says it's 31C

Need to let it run for an hour or so to get a reasonable hash rate estimate.

For anyone who uses the default RPi image (as of today) on canaan.io - it's setup for static IP 192.168.0.100
So you may have to login to that and switch it to DHCP if you have more than one - or if you have a lot, set that in the image.

Awwww maaaannnnn...you got yours first.  Grin

I was sorta kinda expecting a relatively quiet experience; my A6s have been a lot quieter than the S7s.

I was going to re-burn my RPi card tomorrow anyway, as I await my unit. Thanks for the update.
