... and another by bery89 Smiley

... hopefully a few more because Oct may not reach 100 blocks  Huh
Doesn't matter if it reaches 1000 - all that matters is the PPS % - as long as we're averaging a block or more a day, the variance should be OK.
The higher the PPS % is the better of course Smiley

yeah - understood - but I miss those block parties... Grin

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

I looked at expected blocks for October and I thought it was 48 yesterday, today it has changed upwards, what causes that to happen? Change in hashrate?

I think we had found 48 blocks as of yesterday, then the 2 today equal 50.

I think he was talking about the calculated number of expected blocks.  It's good to wake up to see 2 blocks this morning!

400% of shares expects 4 blocks - so although we only found 1 during that 400%, the expected (average) was 4

...to the rescue!...

EDIT: Just finished replacing the power brake booster in the truck...just what a 68-yr old gal ought to be doing...not...I sorta kinda feel like the south end of that northbound chicken above.  Undecided

EDIT2: ...and, oh yeah, to keep it OT...be it known that BTC paid for all the parts and supplies. A major reason I mine. I mine here 'cuz my goal is long-term stability, and not who (read as pools) hit the most blocks last month. This is the place.

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)

Restart completed, no problems (and no miners affected)
Restart was from 11:30:42 UTC to 11:39:52 (just over 9 minutes)

Kano,

We need to get some of our heavy hitters back. Have you thought of emailing the people who dropped off and letting them know what happened over the past few weeks and that we are back on track?

We're all personally going to earn the same anyway.

The only difference is that there would be more blocks with more hashpower. However, more hashpower also means that the block rewards have to be shared among more users, meaning you would earn more or less the same either way.

not necessarily, this is a numbers game, the more players you have at the table, the better the odds of finding a block. If what you were saying were true it would make just as much sense to just mine solo vs mining here.

Not really.

30ph should earn 29.18 btc a day  or 2.3344 blocks a day.

My 24th should earn .02335 btc a day or 0.001868 blocks a day that means if I solo mine it takes about 535 days to hit a block.

Big pools  of 10%  have less variance.

Little pools of 1% have more variance.

If all my wishes came true kano  would be   8% of the network and have 107% lifetime luck.

We are now at 1.7% of the network with 103.75% lifetime luck.

Well, yeah it does make sens to solo mine. The only problem is that it may take several years to find a block, which is why people join pools.

Your XYZ H/s will make the same either way (,assuming it runs for a long enough time span,) unless you're really lucky or you join a pool that's really lucky.

Let's take Phillipma's numbers

He could either mine a kano or solo mine for 535 days:
Code:
Mining at kano =  ~.02335/day

535*0.2335=12.4995

Solo mining a block = ~535 days

One block being ~12.5

In other words, he's expected to earn the same either way.

Here's how I see it.   yea you could solo mine by yourself with 24ths. And prolly you won't hit a block for the whole period. Hell with bad luck it could take twenty years to find one solo.  10x diff is about as high as I've personally witnessed variance to reach. Now here is where luck and statistics play in.  If we take that same 24 ths which is prolly two workers being s9s. If I point those to solock and it has only 1200 workers then my worker has a 1/600 chance of being the worker that is served the proper work for returning back the block that ck finds.  Yes ck doesn't find as many blocks but being as I have 5 workers out of 1200 or so workers then I have roughly a 1/300 chance of being the one that pops the block for the pool.  And I have those odds each and every block ck solo finds.  Then when you factor in that you get full reward!  I for one am glad I went solo I popped two blocks with 34 the in less than two months at current diff. So it's possible and once you do it makes it hard to go back to a pool.

Best Regards

I think there was a 1200% block   which  would mean  12 x 535 = 6420 days  for a solo  if diff was flat  would be worst case luck.

that is 17 years   vs normal luck of 1.7 years  or 10 miuntes with god like luck.

I hit my fair share of solo blocks.

3  at ck's pool  but  I had partners and netted 21 of the 75 blocks. coins
