Sorry for the newbie question; I've been learning a lot by lurking here - and appreciate the wisdom of the group.

My question:

The pool payment for Block 417755 seems to be in limbo for me. My wallet shows a transaction started and BTC on its way to me from the pool (in the correct amount), but there is no info on Blocktrail/blockr that suggests a transaction was even attempted or that I am (only) waiting for confirmations.

Is this related to the orphan in some way or is this a network issue? I don't believe there is a way to confirm whether a block payment has actually yet been made by the pool on the site.

Hmm, looks like it got lost - yeah I didn't spot that.
The orphan seems to have made the pool work drop it.

OK fixed. It's back in our pool work and will be confirmed in our next block.

Dang, I like it here. Jefe's (Kano) got the orphan thing nailed, we got newbies galore with hash, and the dogsled arrived. I just had a PepsiMax for my morning wakeup in honor of Kano...not bad, either, and a lot quicker than French press.

Now that my waterfowl are sufficiently aligned, I can kick off the little local project of making BTC available to folks on disability and low income, and whom have no long-term security at all. Been working on it for a while. I'll start a new thread on it, though. When it's up I'll let y'all know so you can hammer my logic.  Grin

I got a couple of PMs re the dogsled...all constructive and positive...mahalo nui for the support and info. It's worked out quite well.

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)

Wow...that was fast, guy...you must have Zach's thingy giving you texts...  Cool

Guess I'll have to break down and buy a data pack for my smartphone (I actually use it only as a phone...go figure).

While I do like Zach's CKPool Monitor and VH's iPhone app a lot when I'm away from my computer (everyone should use these), I actually get the pool notices directly from CKPool in real time in my cgminer CMD window that runs an old U3 that I run just to see these notices...it take me about 6 seconds to go to the forum and type "Block!"  Cheesy

EDIT:  This one actually took me 24 seconds  Grin

Aha! That's way cool...very inventive. Still need to make my smartphone ambulatory, though, I think.

does kano have email alerts for miners that are down or for payout notification? I'm new to the kano pool and wanted to know some tips and tricks to make my life easier, thanks Smiley

Also how does finding a block affect our reward? for example, if say, our pool found a block how do I calculate how much my share is? does it depend on how much my Th/s is?

yes but also your 5n number   wait for a screen shot

I expanded from about 24th to 48th

notice growth pattern below  ignore the 2 sharp drops as that was when I turned off power to add gear.

I am now close to my max average say 50th

so take my   nAvg
take pool nAvg

50th/39ph = 0.13%

or .0013 x 25 coins = .0325  and my last payment was about that. 0.032304

As I rounded numbers just a bit  to explain it to you.

Get yourself set up with Zach Monroe's CKPool Monitor at https://www.ckpoolmonitor.zachmonroe.com. You can set up worker alerts there.

As far as payout notification, Bitcoin Core will give you a popup when you have an incoming transaction. Otherwise, payouts happen once a day and are triggered by the next block found. If you're using someone's wallet for your payouts other than your own, DON'T. Voice of experience. The "Payments" page on the site does not necessarily correspond with wallet transactions...I just monitor the Rewards page...I then know what's coming, and if I glance at time of day, how many confirmed, etc. I can pretty much figure when a payout should come. I don't worry about it, frankly. I worried about such things when I was working other pools, but not here.

And...if you find a block, your reward is the same as if anyone else found it. That's what pool mining is all about. Your reward is based on your 5Nd hash rate (the formula that maintains stability for the pool), and you won't reach max 5Nd for a day or two once you're online. It's a great system, and helps protect the pool hash rate from large fluctuations when large miners come or go. It discourages pool-hopping. Your 5Nd hash rate is a mathematical percentage of the whole pool rate, and that's what determines your share.

EDIT: ckpoolmonitor has a "Dashboard" tab on the main (logged in) page...it will contain your present 5Nd at the pool.

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)
