My brain agrees with you -- my heart goes out to the young man...
I will no longer distract the thread -- albeit, he IS a miner here...
I just wish we could help in some meaningful way -- I just don't see how that is realistically possible...
How much was stolen? 28 BTC was stolen from me. Took long to save that up and have it taken in a second which wallet were you using? How easy is it for hackers to steal btc from your wallet? Can they steal even with all the verification security you have on the wallet? Makes me wonder if I should continue leaving my btc in my wallet for long periods of time. It feels like its a nightmare just waiting to happen.
Keep your Bitcoins in a wallet you have control over. NOT in an online wallet like blockchain!! And you should be fine. Unless you get some bad malware on the machine where you keep your wallet. which wallet is better than blockchain? An offline " cold storage" wallet is safest. Various hardware versions like Trezor, Ledger, Case, Keepkey etc are available. : https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Hardware_walletSome wallets (ex: Electrum) enable you to create your own offline wallet: http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/coldstorage.html You can also use Electrum to build your own offline wallet on a Raspberry Pi: http://raspnode.com/installElectrumBitcoin.html

Hi guys I'm sure yourll know that my bitcoins were stolen Can anyone assist me in sending a small amount of bitcoins to the address with a message. I'm using block chain can some one assist me pls
Kano. I am not complaining and if he was robbed okay he was robbed, but this above could be part of a longer more clever ploy and I for one would not like to send him 0.001 btc and be a victim to my own kind heartness. This is a very good pool and a lot of good people are here so my goodness and geneorusity want to send 0.001 btc to him. But I am not going to do this. I will however do a rental for solo at ck's pool and if the will of the universe lets it hit a block I will then give aid to him

I know you can do it with coinbase.com .0001btc is 7 cents. You could say you have prostate cancer and you really need the money. I saw some panhandler on the median yesterday with a prostate cancer sign begging for money.

For those about to block we salute you! AC->BTC

Very sad to read about somebody getting ripped off.
Bitcoin's strength is also it's weakness. Look what's happening in that other coin world with the hard forking.
I would never, ever, ever store a significant (what's significant is up to you) amount of bitcoin in a wallet you have to access with a browser. Never. Browser's are the gateway to internet evil.

If anyone using coinable can send a small amount i can tell you the message and then pls include it since i do not use coinable The message is " hi , if you could return the money as it was borrowed and now I'm in debt and serious trouble if you don't. you may keep 2 BTC" The address this message must be sent to is 177zMwve8Eqt8DgwZR4USyPHzeyrfQwSDm thanks and then please whoever does this for me send me your btc address so i can pay you back

Why do you need somebody else to do this? You are still mining? You can setup a new blockchain account in like 20 seconds.

you can only do it from coinbase where you sign a message Huh? Virtually all wallets allow you to sign a message. Bitcoin Core has it built in. You can do it with the blockchain wallet as well.

Ditto...for maybe the third time. I'm wondering how many of us remember Mt. Gox and how it happened...or really understand the nature of btc and its non-recoverability in such instances. I'll put btc in Coinbase or CEX only to cover a sale/conversion transaction. There's no reason to keep my btc anywhere else but in the Core Client.

In another thread, some members pointed me towards Electrum. I've used it a bit.
