I LOVE the fact that you are running a node.

I haven't done that since 2011/2012.

Yeah -- make sure to prioritize that list.  USB FIRST!!!  Grin

Bitgo wallet or should I say one wallet multiple users, Bitfinex  fell for this crap and pulled the coins out of cold storage!

Responding to needs of Bitcoin businesses, BitGo created the first multi-user 2-of-3 multi-signature wallet. Adding multi-user capabilities allowed Bitcoin businesses to have what we’ve had in the banking world for years: joint accounts, multi-level transaction approvals, auditor account access, and more

I believe coinbase has insurance for a situation like this.

Coinbase is a different animal with different regs.  No margin, no shorting, etc.  Plus, Coinbase must abide with U.S. law.

I wouldn't trust their insurance to cover BTC loss, but I suspect that it would cover USD loss for a limited amount.

Latest update from Finex says that the customers that lost coin are screwed.   Huh

And, presumably, they are going to TRY and continue operations.  I cannot IMAGINE ANYONE EVER trading there anymore -- but, this isn't the first time the Finex has totally screwed their customers.  Me included.  Where is the "bang my head against the wall" emoticon???

They are just going spread the losses between members and continue business as usual

Their TOS and latest update state otherwise.  Not saying that it won't ultimately work the way you are saying -- I think that they are going to try to stay in business.

How much disk does a full node need?
It is just a Bitcoin wallet with the entire block chain downloaded?
Probably better on Linux?

84.7 GB right now. It's on a spare TB drive.

Yes, but it is also processing transactions as I'm connected to anywhere from 8-15 peers at a time.

Edit: It may be better on Linux, but my Linux laptop didn't have the space so it's on Win10. (A locked-down tight win10, I should add.)

A few Bitcoin cores running on several machines?
Wait, they have to have their own ip on the Internet?

A few Bitcoin cores running on several machines?

It would help the network. It doesn't use hardly any CPU or memory. Not sure how a number of them might effect your network. I have pretty fast cable internet and also use it for my TV, internet, miners, and it doesn't make a blip.

That is correct having several node cores running on the same network is pointless.

You would have to have more than one public-facing IP address. And have the nodes on different subnets, probably. I think if you can run one, that would be sufficient. Smiley

No.

It just means it's less likely to be found if it uses a different port.

But btcd itself solves that by going out and finding others to connect to.

I'll do a ckpool restart in ~3 hours at about 10:00 UTC

Update to improve performance.
Miners should simply see a reconnect in cgminer if you happen to be watching it Smiley
As usual, rentals may or may not reconnect depending upon the rental source handling that properly.

What are the benefits of running a full node besides helping the network? Do you actually get paid?

I am thinking of setting up my own wallet recently too as my accumulation now nears 10 btc.

Customizable full-featured crypto trading platform in development. Asking for demo if interested.

I WISH you got paid a fraction on transactions!! But no, you're just helping the network process transactions faster. Also, I'm using the built in Core wallet for my coins and all of my keys. You can also choose the tx fee you wish to add to a spend for it to begin confirm in the length of time of your choosing. But I'm sure other wallets have that feature.
I'm just doing it because I can and to take control of my coins and keys. Feels good to be able to help the network in some small way also.
It's very easy to do.

If you have your own node, then only you have control of your bitcoins.
If you have something else, then you don't have control of your bitcoins.
I still don't get why people are happy to give their bitcoins to someone else ... ... ...

Block Smiley

Nice to see three blocks already for today with my morning coffee!

Let's make it a banner day! Blocks, Blocks, and more Blocks!    Cool

Unfortunately, I'll have to shut down my miners for most of the day because of rain storms. Thank goodness for my MRR rental. The rental found a block early this morning!  Smiley

More BLOCKSSSSSS!

Post without the link Smiley

--

Meanwhile ... I've been rather annoyed at the luck lately, not coz it's been that bad, but more coz it's been so damn unreliable
... and I keep thinking conspiracy theories Tongue

So, to cheer me up, and hopefully everyone else, I've added a column to the top of the stats table on the blocks page.
-ck requested this a while ago, and I finally added it Smiley

It's the overall expected PPS% given the numbers displayed and also after removing the pool fee.
I'll add a blue '?' popup at some later date, explaining it.
