Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

So why would someone with that much hash rate leave? Or is he spreading out his hash rate to reduce variance? Solo mining?

Have there been any issues with the pool? I was out for a little while and when I got back one rig had kicked over to the backup pool. Everything looked ok, it was just mining in the wrong place. Just trying ot figure out what caused it.

Being someone that is always trying to learn from those that have paved the way, I tend to take note when they are doing something I know nothing about. Just curious.  Grin

Hmm - not sure.
I guess you'd expect all of them to switch over, if there was a problem at the pool end.
From where you are I'd suggest first and second to be stratum and nya

They are at different locations currently, so could have been a local issue. Still waiting on the electricians to get our new power in. Having machines just sitting in the boxes about drives me crazy. Hopefully by next week sometime we can get up and running full speed. I will set my second to nya that would have probably caught it.

Mine on.

How often do you clean out your S9?

I have had one running since Nov 21, and the 4 others since Dec 27...
Should I give them a good scrub down with soap and water? :-)
Toothbrush between the heatsinks?

Or just blow them out with compressed air?

I have never seen or heard what is recommended for maintenance on these, so I thought I would ask here.

The LA half of the stratum node suddenly started dropping packets left right and centre for 5 minutes from 10:54 UTC to 10:59 UTC
Anyone who was mining on the LA half of stratum, probably would have failed over to their 2nd pool.
It's all OK again now.

Like any other computing device, I'd blow them out with compressed air every 6 months. More often if your environment is dusty. Clean machine means lower temps means longer life.

You could also try a power washer, but it tends to knock the heat sinks off  Wink

Just gave my R4 an air shower yesterday. A truly alarming amount of dirt/dust came out, and when all was done I'm getting a good 10 degrees lower on the hottest chip temp reported. Cough-cough!
Mine on!  Cool

I don't believe in superstition because it's bad luck: 13thF1oor6CAwyzyxXPNnRvu3nhhYeqZdc
These aren't the Droids you're looking for: S5 & S7 (Sold), R4B2, R4B4 (RIP), 2x S9 obsolete, 2xS15-28, S17-56, S17-70
Pushing a whopping 1/5 PH!  Oh The SPEED!!!

Longer than I should have apparently (more than a year...)  Cheesy

And finally I can add another S9 to the pool, sometime this weekend or into next week, after WAY too much delay...

I would advise you do your homework online if you are not a Pro but...

I used 100% pure alcohol when I refurbished 2 S7s as follows.

1 Power down and let cool for 15 min.
2 Blow out with air.
3 Dissasemble
4 Use a spray bottle filled with 100% alcohol, carefully spray down all parts letting grime drain away immediately. Do not let pool.
5 Carefully use emery cloth on the leading edge of heatsinks facing intake fan to remove impacted particles.
6 Repeat step 4
7 Carefully remove any loose heatsinks clean and reapply with 2 part heatsink adhesive.
8 Replace any damaged or worn out fans.
9 Reassemble.

My temps went from 58 on average to 40 after refurb. (1 loose heat sink and replaced all 4 fans) running running freak 718 on 1 and 731 on the other. HW errors went from .03 to .0038 on average between the two machines.

Note: My machines are old old old, basicly parts I HAD to refurb them to get them healthy and working.
I plan to repeat this Deep Cleaning only when necessary due to performance issues but I will blow them out once per 3 months or as needed.
If you use an air compressor to blow out your rigs please purchase an inline Water Elimination Filter and do not forget Step 1. Smiley

Best of luck!

Curious question. If my Slushpool says 100% confirmed is it safe to take the miners off and bring them over here?

Actually you can move them before that and it should not cause any issues. The confirmations are by the network and once the BTC is shown as rewarded you should get that amount even if you move the miners.
