Is there a medium miner bonus giveaway planned?

I see that those with 10+ PH/s get a nice reward. And now smal miners Smiley

Perhaps there’s room for a bonus for middle sized miners? Wink
The way I read the 1st post, it says 5PH/s through 10PH/s. Not just 10PH/s and above. I'm not sure what hashrate you have,
but if you're close to this you're Rockin!!!  Anything that far up is well out of my reach, and would be better left to Kano.

what about the small miners? I'm a small miner, give me a reward  Grin

He is referring to the "Pass the Hash" give away. I believe if you are between 100GH/s and 50TH/s, you're eligible for the
weekly drawing.

Good afternoon from Kano. Is(land), where it'a always UTC.

Week 1 of the Small Miner Bonus Hash giveaway has concluded. Kano Pool miner kellenavaI received at least 96 hours of shares from an old S3.
Due to issues with the local network earlier today, we went a bit over on the time.

I'm going to take the little guy to his cell, take off his leash, and lock the door. He needs his rest (he really needs to retire).

Week 2 of the Kano Pool Small Miner Bonus Hash giveaway will start Tuesday morning, March 27.

...
The Small Miner Bonus Hash giveaway, Week 1, continues for about nine more hours.
Since I have found a crawl space in a sub-basement in an abandoned building on Kano Island from which to work, there will be a Week 2 giveaway.
Hilarious... Great giveaway, too, by the way.

Well. it's not a bad crawl space. I found a cubby hole that has a cool draft from outside and a 25-meter, 18-gauge extension cord to run the gear. It's not great, but it works. On the up-side, the rent is right - Kano hasn't found me to evict me. Yet.   Grin  I'm not sure if he's been on this part of the island lately. Also, I have an extra cord and space; with a little assist, I could give away more hash.

Re: Social Media

It's known that padrinogtr, Shazam!!!, and tnaa97 are promoting the pool - LOUD & PROUD. If you know of anyone else reaching out for the pool, let me know.

Well, that's this afternoon's news from Kano. Is(land), where the women are strong, the men are good-looking, and luck always comes back to one-hundred percent.

Doesn't hurt to ask, I suppose...

For anyone who hasn't heard, anything outside of Kano's 5 & 9.5PH giveaway--0.5 & 1BTC respectively for up to 3 per person and up to 10BTC total--are free-will, miner donations. Kano's is on a whole 'nother level, but it still comes out of his pocket, technically.

What a great mining pool and community! IT'S THE BEST EVER!!!

Under the current structure, there's a little over 600 miners that fit the Small Miner Bonus Hash giveaway criteria. If you've got more than 100 GH/s and less than 50 TH/s, you're eligible AND entered for each giveaway.

The lower boundary was chosen because ~450 GH/s over four days might not bust dust on its own, but my bar-napkin math says it'll benefit the recipient down to about that level.

The upper boundary was chosen because (bar-napkin math again) beyond that, 1% for four days, spread across 5Nd, really isn't much. It's not all that, at that level.

With all that being said, this program will continue, hopefully to expand over the coming weeks. Adding hash to the one-winner (current) plan is definitely a possibility. Also under consideration are a tiered giveaway (2 or 3 winners in different "brackets") and a Dust Buster program for the full 5Nd.

If anyone has suggestions, please submit them via the forum or pm (I might not be able to respond to pm's, tho - newbie status, but I WILL read every one).

And, as always,

Here I am at 0530 waiting for my coffee water to boil...doing my usual business of checking the pool, spot, etc. finding nothing exciting as yet...and as I log on the board, BLOCK...

I just love it when a plan comes together...

Hey all, newer member to the pool, have a quick question for you.

Most of my mining experience was with GPU rigs. I have some S9's now, presently 3 plugged in, more getting settled in.

I have been mining on Kano since March 7, (I like the vibe, the reward structure and the size) and now that I've let them mine for several weeks to sample some numbers, I have a couple of questions.

General question regarding pool & mining:

Are all shares equal?
Is the # of shares the most important statistic in terms of rewards?

I've attempted to do some research on this but there is a lot of dated information as well as varying pool reward structures so please bare with me.

I am using 13.5 S9's.

Is it better to leave it on variable difficulty and let it find it's own nirvana or is there a specific number that will work better?

Below is the present snapshot of my Workers page. Ironically although I'd let them run for a few weeks without tinkering to test them, I just noticed today that worker #1 had 1 PCI-E connector loose and I'm not sure how long it had been that way... it's now been fixed as of maybe 1 hour ago, whether that impacts the numbers, you tell me. (Just refresh'd my workers page and we hit a block,  Grin)

Worker Name:   Work Diff   :Last Share   Shares   :Diff   :Share Rate   «Elapsed   :Invalid   Block %   :Hash Rate
BMCA_1           12.238k   1s                   41   501,758   14.37THs   2m 30s   2.381%   0.016%   13.69THs
BMCA_2           11.543k   1s                   34   392,462   11.24THs   2m 30s   0.000%   0.013%   13.82THs
BMCA_3           12.339k   1s                   39   481,221   13.78THs   2m 30s   0.000%   0.016%   13.46THs
Total: 3                                                         111 375,441   39.38THs       0.882%   0.045%   40.98THs

Apologies for the shitty formatting.  I am aware that all Antminer's will vary on Hashrate given the luck of the draw, but would a manually configured difficulty produce a higher hashrate? This brings us back full circle to my initial question, are all shares equal and is maximizing amount of shares the objective?

Thanks in advance for your help Kano friends.

I guess I picked the right time to get here because December 10, January 8, February 5, but March already 14 blocks! Keep it up guys. Cool

Edit: Once again a snapshot of worker page, since we hit the last block.

Worker Name:   Work Diff   :Last Share   Shares   :Diff   :Share Rate   «Elapsed   :Invalid   Block %   :Hash Rate
BMCA_1   12.238k   0s   271   3,316,498   15.47THs   9m 24s   0.368%   0.017%   13.90THs
BMCA_2   11.543k   2s   256   2,955,008   11.78THs   9m 24s   0.000%   0.015%   13.66THs
BMCA_3   12.339k   3s   258   3,183,462   13.72THs   9m 24s   0.000%   0.016%   13.57THs
Total: 3 (3 active workers)   785   9,454,968   40.97THs       0.129%   0.047%   41.12THs

#1 was the one with loose PCI connectors which have since been fixed but still throwing up invalids... can't imagine its due to networking as they are all hardwired into a 20 port switch on a short run next to each other...

I would be curious to see if fixing the plug fixed your Invalid %. I have 4 s9's and leave the work diff alone and let them do their thing. The seem to do fine and even better recently.

Each share the miner submits has a different difficulty - this is normalised to a number of shares based on difficulty.

Auto difficulty tries to set your miner to submit 18 shares per minute according to Kano.

Seems to work fine for my S9's so I'd keep it variable. Higher difficulty settings just change the variance I.e. The number and frequency your shares are submitted but shouldn't impact overall hashing rate in the long run.

Certainly, by now, Sidewinder is ramped up enough for one of Kano's large miner rewards...

Whaddaya say, folks, will this be the one?!
Looks like I was only a few blocks early with my prediction for the FIRST qualifying 10BTC Giveaway block reward!

Yep. I locked myself out before too. Sad However, I have found that if you know what the best average work diff for you miner is--chart out your shifts in a spreadsheet to see which work diff results in the highest share diff per minute with the lowest invalids--you can just set it directly to that work diff (e.g. 3586 for my Avalon6) and reduce all those invalids from when it tries to default to 4098 and throws a bunch of invalids.
