...Kano. Can you look a little further at the particular numbers of the 10 btc giveaway,  and consider miners at  "less than Corporate" numbers to be included??? There's ALOT of miners who are between 250THs and 5 PH/s out there who COULD be applicable.
Our numbers have increased dramatically, could there be a way to reconfigure the GIVEAWAY to include MORE real world Applicants???...
Not to rain on your parade, but it sounded like Kano's intention was to woo large miners from other pools rather than just spend the pool fee rewarding those who already mine here.

Just my 2 ¢.
Agreed.
No problem. Not my parade, just asking what others don't.  Middle man, if you will....

It's at the limits set coz we need more miners in those ranges.
The problems before, when the pool has taken a dive, have been due to having too few large miners.
If one person leaving, puts us in the position we were in, at the end of last year, then I need to resolve that.

... and in case anyone has delusions about the 10BTC ... I've been risking an exceptionally large % of all my BTC, over the last couple of months to get the pool size back up, and it's been working, and that 10BTC more is not a small % either ... it is directed where I currently deem mandatory.

Thank YOU sir for answering. Continue I will, with my promoting.

Welcome aboard - can see you there in the list Smiley

Yep the 10BTC is there to get more like sidewinder on board to help reduce the variance for everyone.

Everyone else still gets the best pool fees of any pool worth mining on - but it seems that's not enough to bring over large miners like that, so I need a carrot also to get some more Smiley

Speaking of promotions and giveaways, I just wanted to give credit to whom it is due and recognize some folks for their amazing grassroots efforts....

1) Gotta start off with Kano's 10BTC giveaway, which I would argue has brought our recent block find average to under a day and a half
2) luxMiner, perfectplus174, and K.P. PassTheHash--wish we knew who this hilarious character is--for the recent bout of hashpower giveaways
3) Shazam, Tnaa97, padrinogtr, et al. for promoting the pool on Linker and TwittIn Grin with 1,000+ combined views, reposts, likes, comments, etc.

Sorry if I left anyone out. Frankly, it's getting hard to keep track of all the great stuff going on!

Keep up the great work everyone. Glad to be a small part of such an awesome mining crew. Cool

What they all said, this higher pool rate definitely makes the variance much more tolerable.  Now time to crack this next block!

you're doing all a great job; thank you;

one block every 1.5 - 2 days is more than reasonable; for me at least; can't speak however for the others

...If pool luck is better than 100%, then the average share reward will be more than 5 times. (Love it when it hits 10-12 times!)...
Guess what? Huh I checked the oldest shift in our most recent block's payout, and...

WE'RE BACK TO 10!!!

This also means that we've been paid for those shares almost 200%!!!

*** For anyone unfamiliar with this, click the 'click here' link at the top of the Workers > Shifts page to be auto-magically transported through time and space--er, just further down the page--to the last shift of the most recent block's 5Nd (500% of Network Difficulty). You can also use this to gauge how ramped up you are since each row will show how many THs you were churning out during that ~50 minute timeframe. If that row's THs is lower than your current THs, then you're not ramped up yet.

Obviously, if you just started mining here all those shifts will be zeros, but as time marches on, the closer you get to those not being zeros as each new block's 5Nd looks back closer and closer to your first shifts. The difference between those being zeros and those at your current THs is how far you have to go to be ramped up.

That's the reward we all get for staying here on the Kano pool...small, medium, and large miners alike.  Kano already rewards us with the lowest fees around and the transaction fees on top of that.  His 10 BTC giveaway promotion is to help all of us to continue to enjoy our rewards without the huge swigs in luck.  For all of you who feel like you've been left out of the give-away specials, stop and think about how we have the best pool around, smile, and mine on!

I think in this instance.....he's chasing the carrot.  I'd say Kano's strategy is working well.

I never liked math.. so can someone figure out this....

At what hash rate would you have to be at to be fully ramped up if you all of the sudden had 13.5TH for 1 full day?  IE  it takes say 10 days to ramp up, so my estmiation is that one would need 1 day at 13.5 TH to average out as 1.3 TH for the 10 days?

Another way of asking this is, at what hash rate would a user have to be at to fully benifit from 1 day of a 13.5th S9 so they would be considered to be ramped up.

Ignoring how many days they are ramped up, assuming a new user just starting out.

I think my 1.3 or even 1.5 TH user would fit this criteria?

At any particular point in time, you'd have to divide by the number of days shown on the Help->Payouts page.

So if it says the 5Nd is 'currently' about 10 days, then you'd divide the hash rate by 10 and that's about what the 'ramp' level would be after 1 day.

The problem with doing these calculations is of course that time isn't a factor in 5Nd, it changes with the pool hash rate and difficulty.
So if the pool hash rate changes or the difficulty changes, then, of course, the time length of the 5Nd changes.

From the payout page....The pool hash rate for the last day is roughly 92.56PHs which means the 5Nd 'ramp' is roughly 9days 7hrs.   That's a good place to start from for guestimation.

Yeah, I kinda was thinking its hard to get a right number.  It wasn't really that important for what I wanted to do.

NOW The reason:

The LITTLE guy Hash Give away...

The Prize - 24 Hrs of free hashing power from one of my S9's on your username.

The Criteria:
   1. You have to be a new miner ramping up still.
   2. Your hash rate has to be at 2 Th/s or less
   3. Answer the skill testing question by the deadline by Private messsage to me.
   4. You have to commit to telling 2 people about the pool at some point in the near future. ( Karma is a Biatch ) :-)

Deadline is 00:00:00 UTC March 27  - Mar 26 17:00 Mountain Time
This date chosen since this will mark 3 months of Mining for me ( with multiple S9's, I hade one since Nov 21)

The skill testing question is:   What is the width of the equator?  What causes the width.  Hint: Friends

PM Me your answers.

I will pick someone with a valid answers at random, and then contact them to arrange pointing one of my S9's to thier user name so that they will be ramped up in that day instead of waiting the full ~10 days.

And for legal reasons:

This is just for fun, dont get mad if you dont win, its all for fun, There is no warrenty, no liability etc...  JUST FOR FUN!  I'm hoping more of the smaller miners go buy S9's.

Not-Quite-Midnight Musings:

Do you think there's a mathematical advantage to including more rather than less transactions to candidate blocks?

I'm wondering if when all the transactions are hashed together if it inherently skews the resulting hash value higher or lower.

That'd be pretty interesting if the way we try to get new blocks is actually the best way (i.e. The heavier the block the better).

Well its been about 12 hours, Looks like its time for another block.  I didn't win the lottery on yesterdays draw, so a block would be nice.
I'd go make sime chicken, but I just started renovations on my kitchen....  fridge in dining room, stove in living room, dishwasher at front door.  Plates, pots and pans in closet.  Its messed up.  But not as much as having to get water out of the bathroom sink to use on the hotplate I bought and put in the spare room as my makeshift kitchen!

Ok, i'll go to Wendy's and get a Spicy Asiago Chicken burger... and keep my dignity :-)  haha
its going to be like 3 or 4 weeks without a kitchen! ugg
