Japanese pronunciation: Kah-no

Kano posted something about how it should be pronounced a while back but I can't find it Smiley

It was something like Ca (as in car) - nu if my memory serves me which is a hit & miss venture these days! Cheesy
Yeah both pretty close Smiley

Japanese Hiragana is phonetic so there's no confusion about the sounds

かの

The Ka is like Car without the 'r' - the 'a' sound is short
The No is like Not without the 't' - the 'o' sound is short

... however Smiley even I tend to say 'Ka' 'Know' since, speaking English all my life I tend to drag the end out and it becomes a long 'Know' instead of a short 'No' ... and since it's my name Smiley either is OK Smiley
Though, no one who speaks Japanese properly would ever say 'Ka' 'Know'

All japanese spoken phonetic sounds have a vowel sound on the end (except 'n')
which usually makes the language very nice to listen to (especially when sung)

hmm very interesting i always assumed it was soundin like the mortal kombat character

If it actually arrives I'll do the testing then.
If not, then I'll get help from wavelengthsf as said here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=789369.msg31882417#msg31882417

Definitely committed to this. My order is in batch 2 or 3,  but I’ll IRC or PM Kano when (if?) it arrives.

My Father lived in Japan for 10 years as a younger man and taught me a lot about what he learned of Japanese culture and customs.  A very interesting people, I'd like to go to Japan someday.  Have you been, kano-san?  We know you've done China.
There's a lot of more recent western effluence (influence) so it's not all that a strange place for foreigners to visit any more, though that influence has also had some positive effects.

Well, being interested in Computers and Anime, and pretty much not much else, I (finally) spent a month is Japan last year, staying mostly in Akihabara.

The first time was via the visit to China to meet the people at Canaan (I've known some of them for a long time, but have never met them) and for the Bitmain conference that didn't happen - I went to China via Japan and stayed in Japan on the way over and the way back.
I also took my 2 kids in Nov/Dec for a few weeks coz I really wanted to go back and they both wanted to go also (they both study Japanese at university)

When travelling, there's no real issues with the pool, since I make sure the flights have WiFi so all alarms/alerts/email work (almost) like normal.
What I lack is the home setup to do anything but minor development work/fixes, and the much more encompassing visual monitoring I have at home.
Everything else runs the same, including the payouts - of course nothing needs my home setup working except doing payouts.

Are we welcoming any sales of used miners? I've got a few S7's we're offloading on Ebay, but would offer them here for a discount from the Ebay price if anyone is interested.
Yep - but you must also request all replies via PM - since the thread isn't for discussion of the sale, but OK to make a post telling people about it and telling them to PM you to follow up on it ... as long as your a (dedicated) KanoPool miner Smiley

Sounds good, I'm here to stay. Starting to phase out the S7's for S9's slowly but surely.

so.....

If anyone is interested in some S7's I have a few various condition ones with some choice machines in excellent condition to some hashing on 2 out 3 boards and some running on a reduced frequency setting but mining consistent. Also have an S7-LN which is a more efficient version with only 2 boards but averaging 3.5 Th/s. Please PM me for details. They are listed on Ebay, but I will give an extra discount to Kano Pool members.

Mine on.....and uh, I believe it's about that time. As the late great Colonel Sanders once said, "I'm too drunk to taste this chicken."

Nothing happens until something moves.

MINE ON WITH KANO........except DPoS2

Good Tuesday morning from Kano.Is(land)!!!

It was really nice having the BTCig BTClock Weekend!

It's time for Week Two of the Small Miner Bonus Hash giveaway. It's still approximately 96 hours of S3 mining for YOU.

As I understand it, there will also be a week three. After that, the crystal ball gets fuzzy...

Congratulations to: Alex800!!! You now have a new worker.

I saw some coconut and lemon the other day. I bet I could make a battery to run another miner....

MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN!!!

I pronounce it "ka-na-san", but I have an accent.

Mine at Kano Pool. https://kano.is

Not sure who did it, but the Kano Pool Twitter page, and I, were tagged in one of my posts with a guy named Rolf. The tag invited Rolf to contribute towards the pool, for the 10BTC giveaway. I personally sent an invite through Rolf's website too. He would be a good member here in the forum too, as he is most definitely educated in the ways of mining. Take some time to check out some of his stuff!!! Hope he considers our invitation!!!

https://blockoperations.com
That was me.  I hope he comes over.  He has several mining operations so I’m guessing he would bring some firepower with him.  Seems like a standup guy too based on his site and YouTube channel.  I’ve learned a ton from just watching his videos.

Happy Monday Mining everyone!

Same here...I've added ~100TH to my stack so far this year by replacing a portion of my S7s with S9s.  The last of my S7s are set to be taken offline by the end of the week when my new 841s show up (they've shipped! Yea!).  I will have a handful of S7s to sell as soon as I can get them back from my co-location host.  PM me if interested but I suspect it will be a couple of weeks before I can nail anything down.

So ironic.  I recently purchased an S7. It's not even here, yet. But I have already made the decision; that was my last machine made by them. I'm switching over to Canaan products for future purchases.

In the same boat with S9's myself, would like to put some additional Canaan hardware to work here. Groupbuy? Smiley

I have one S9 (hosted) for sale at $950 shipped to US ($40 discount vs marketplace to Kano's pool members).
This S9 hashes stably on two boards at 7.9-8th/s, making price a bargain.
If interested, send me a PM.

I've got something like 31 $100 dollar coupons i'll sell for 20 a piece, ~5 200 dollar coupons for 50 a piece, and 2 $220 dollar coupons for 60 a piece.

PM me if interested. any S9 owners who bought late last year early this year likely has the same.

I just picked up 2 S9's with PSUs, shipped ended up being 1500 a piece.

They're unloading the last of their inventory before an imminent S11 release if is my thought.

Only one coupon can be used per miner, but there's a lot in stock. My Kano collection is growing Cheesy.

I run a hosted mining facility where I receive 25% of the net. These are actually my first purchases for me alone. 17 are running now, and I've got three 220 outlets left that i saved for myself Cheesy

EDIT: there's no two month wait on these miners either. Mine were ordered 2 days ago and they ship April 1 Cheesy

Well, the time has come and gone.. and I did not even receive one response to my trivia...  so I guess no winners...  I guess I declare my self the winner since I know the answer and the S9 is already hashing on my username. :-)

Maybe my question was too hard to find an answer?

I dont qualify but I'll answer anyway because im an astronomy nerd, it's 7926 miles in diameter, it also has a greatest distance around the world because it's pretty much bulging out at the equator because of the earths rotation, like if you were to spin a water balloon while holding onto the tie it will grow in size around what could be it's equator (the balloon that is).

It's actually getting less over the years because the earth is slowing very slowly, I heard that millions of years ago days were actually what we would consider 20 hours instead of the 24 we have now.

I picked me up a Celestron NexStar 102 SLT a few months ago and where im at we have pretty low light pollution so I can get some decent photos with the Canon.

Here is the answer I was kind of looking for...  well, it could of been simplified... :-)

"You might think that the width of the equator is zero, which it is at any given instant. Averaged over time, however, it is about 9 metres because that is the variation of the ‘Chandler wobble’, which is a slight oscillation in the Earth’s spin axis. This is thought to be mainly caused by differential seasonal air pressures which piles the ocean up in different parts of the planet on a seasonal basis. It is possible that some of the Chandler wobble could be caused by slight differential rotation between the Earth’s core and mantle. Plate tectonics may also have a contributory effect."

I Go to sleep now, and expect a Block when I wake up.   IN MY NAME!!!   Oh that would be so funny if I found a block......  Crossing fingers....
