Hello all, Bitmain has employed me to help liaise with the community and later provide technical support. They have done this in order to help provide: 1) timely technical support 2) provide better feedback (if I don't know, I can find out from the people within Bitmain who will) 3) provide product and sales input from you guys directly into the company. If something is going wrong, YOU can fix it 4) provide native English press releases - less ManderEnglish, more sense. This is a paid position, however it will in no way affect my independence or freedom in being critical towards Bitmain outside of this thread. My contract specifically stipulates: Dogie will speak on behalf of BITMAIN and will not criticize BITMAIN in these threads. Dogie still reserves the right to criticize BITMAIN in his other threads. Both parties acknowledge that this relationship has no impact whatsoever on BITMAIN’s rating or standing in “Dogie’s ‘Manufacturer Trustworthiness” thread. This means I won't sit here and reply to every post saying Bitmain is a scam, don't buy from Bitmain etc etc, in this thread. It does NOT prohibit me from saying that in my own threads, if that is what I believe. It also has absolutely no impact on their rating in the Manufacturer trustwothiness thread [in which Bitmain just went down 10 points]. Good to see Bitmain getting some real support. It was desperately needed. With Dogie and Bitmain coming to an agreement about open criticism in other threads and Dogie's openness about the relationship, I'd tend to agree the conflict of interest is very minor. It'll be quite clear if Dogie continues to be impartial.

Its sounds great but honestly the price should be more like $200.
With $200 you can make some profit at least. At the current price you will never get ROI.
No idea why everybody here is ordering one.

If you mined 1 BTC and the price of BTC hits prices it was earlier this year, you've got your ROI. Why not take the chance?

Its currently the long Chinese holiday, so will have to see. Problem with the S3s is they're expensive to make, and they'll have to compete with the S4. If consumers still want S3s they'll get S3s, but at the same time if they didn't like S4 prices then they likely won't like the S3 prices.

Its not true that everyone here is ordering, you can see a lot of exceptions. ROI issue with this miner is still an issue. Some how bitmaintech should do something to support a real ROI above breakeven. Those who believe in "BTC story" and "enjoy the fun" in mining can still by S4 and get ROI in dollar terms. For DIYs its better to stick to their S1, S3, Sx range.

If you mined 1 BTC and the price of BTC hits prices it was earlier this year, you've got your ROI. Why not take the chance? Then just buy 1BTC. Then you dont have to take the risk of mining one. Not to mention there is no electrical cost or uptime maintenance required nor do you need to provide a psu adding more expense. BTC in vs BTC out. The only place for BTC/$$$ exchange rate is for when calculating the BTC required to pay for power.

Part of it for me is still believing in the "BTC Story" and "enjoying the fun" as mentioned above, which is why I don't just buy the BTC. Although at some point I'll be content with my little farm and switch to just buying them.

Instead of buying that, I bought a Prisma 1.4T for half the price on the group buy with Crazyguy. If I am going to experiment with BTC now adays, I will do it the cheapest way possible.

What was your price per gh? I did some research and found antminers were the cheapest way to go.

You pay today but it's a pre-order to be delivered sometime in October. Having said that, I bought one too, MIGHT have a chance at ROI if difficulty growth is slowing. S4 - not so sure. Power consumption between Prisma/S3/S4 is similar, if Prisma specs are to be believed. Cost per GH/s is much lower for Prisma.

1.47 BTC for a Prisma ASICMINER 1.4Th/s+ miner. Not so sure about that research Power consumption is a big factor of that equation. How much power does your 1.4th/s consume? Power consumption: ~0.67 W/G board-wise. On-wall power consumption relies on PSU efficiency. (typically 1050-1100 W per full device, 0.75-0.78 W/G This is the link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=795477.0So it's less efficient than the S4 and you still need to buy a PSU. Let's call 1.47BTC $600 and $100 for a PSU. That's about 50 cents a gh. I paid about 65 cents a gh on the S4, but it's more efficient. A wash maybe?

No PSU and no controller for the Prisma IMO makes the Bitmain S4 a better buy. I have been on the fence about it for a few days but the new 1250$ price closed the gap for me.
