Great FAQ. I was waiting for this before I started busting balls around here re. where this coin was headed as well as the sleepy value (for now), but it's nice to see a legitimate FAQ to instill soem confidence in investors and the coin as a whole.

Decentralized escrow idea seems nice, I hope it'll work properly and you'll make difference in this marketing sector. Also it's good to have important contacts in Alibaba, top selling product vendors have ready buyers and it creates efficient market in the future, that really sounds good! To gain buyers' trust security implements are the most important thing in marketing, you should work hard about it. I believe in this Dev Team, waiting with impatience for Q1 2015!

What they mean is that a Tor exit node (which anybody can set up) can be easily sniffed by performing a man in the middle attack, stealing your data. |

Wow. Very nice FAQ. I never actually thought about how it can take over freelance websites and the way you explained about Odesk really blew my mind. Really huge potential!!!  As a person who uses Odesk to post jobs I am really looking forward to it! What is multicoin wallet? If I'm using bay for freelancing as well as selling stuff in marketplace. Can I keep those funds separated so I don't get confused? Is that the point of multicoin wallet? Another example is. If I'm a seller and buyer in marketplace. Can I keep those accounts separated so when I buy something it uses fund from my "buyer" account and when I sell something that fund comes to my "seller" account? I'm not sure if that's possible but something that can be very helpful if it's integrated inside the wallet. |

Great faq, I was actually surprised that I had a few misconceptions, that were cleared up by it, but now I'm even more excited about this project.
Also it should keep the thread clear for new questions instead of getting the same old questions over and over again.

Hypothetical scenario:
Suppose Bob sells a guitar to Alice.
Both of them deposit the value in a shared account.
Bob gets the payment and notifies the system that all is good.
Alice does get the guitar and is satisfied with it. She however forgets to notify the system in order for the release of the amount from the double escrow account
The escrow times out and both of them loose money .
i.e:
alice has now payed x(Deposit) +x(money payed to bob) = 2x
and bob has nothing now => x(money received from alice ) - x(deposit) =0 [and the guitar is gone]
Is there a way to recover from that ?
Please note: I am a substantial investor in bitbay and believe it its future .. This is just a question ..not a fud:).
My understanding is that the buyer who will be receiving goods will always have less risk than the seller and thus must post more escrow. Thus Alice has much more motivation not to forget. Would like to hear others opinions on this. |

Halo recommends "a deposit at least 2 times the amount being sent." I believe Alice, at the least, would have to escrow deposit twice the amount. You would never want to be 2:0 in a trade as you would be left high and dry every time. alice has now payed x(Deposit) +x(money payed to bob) = 2x
and bob has nothing now => x(money received from alice ) - x(deposit) =0 [and the guitar is gone]
Let us hope that the contracts are smarter than we are. |

You guys are taking a small piece of information without actually understanding the technology and assuming a lot. Yes Tor exit nodes are CAPABLE of being sniffed but that is by design. This problem is easily mitigated by using HTTPS (or other solutions). Tor itself has a known security vulnerability on exit nodes.
