Carillo said she thinks she knows who the owner is through doing Internet searches. "As far as I know, it's that guy who runs Bitcoin," she said.

That's like a closing line from an Onion article.
Yeah she really needs to delete that line.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

No she doesn't. If somebody said it it's because people think it.

that's why people spoke out to stop this and shit like this all along. "I can do what I want with my money" says the bagholder who has invested in various schemes here. I don't give a shit about the person that has all the information, thinks they can pull a fast one or has no problem "investing what they can afford to use," they're going to get robbed eventually anyway, at least this way brings some joy to the world while i can laugh at them.

the problem with these scams is that if they are a person's first venture into the cryptoworld, or even people that just hear about the scam second hand like that woman will not get involved. An ounce of due diligence and common sense when hashlets started, never mind when the impossible <$4 to $4 to $20 scheme was unveiled would have shut this down and that woman would think Garza is just a regular asshole, now she thinks he's an asshole that runs bitcoin.

"Abu Dubai" LOL

But to be fair there is some actual work done in that article, talking to people, officials etc. A bit rusty on the technology side though, Bitcoin et al.

Just shows how toothless the authorities are - we sent a letter, it bounced, nothing we can do.

You'd think that the internet business should be a reasonably good source of income, at least in the short term. 1000+ customers, $50 or so each, surely there is a way to keep at least $10k per month after paying upstream providers, leases, etc? Why kill it?

How would he extract money from it without being found? He's gone for a clean break. He just wants to disappear.

He decided the best thing to do is stop interacting with any of his old companies. He just wants to move on to the next chapter of his life, whatever that may be, and leave everything GAW in the past.

That requires work, effort, and spending money. Those things aren't in ganza's playbook.

It's amusing to think - in his pathetic, deluded mind - he did not stop to consider that the next chapter, and quite possibly the rest of his life, will be spent in a Federal Penitentiary.

I believe the US Federal Penitentiaries only hold violent criminals. Once he is charged he will cut a deal and probably spend a few years in a minimum security facility (think Martha Stewart.) At this point I would think the US government has spend too much time and money on investigation not to bring some charges against Garza. Once that happens it will be his attorney's job to help him make the best deal to minimize prison time and fines.

At this point I would think the US government has spend too much time and money on investigation not to bring some charges against Garza. Once that happens it will be his attorney's job to help him make the best deal to minimize prison time and fines.

Martha Stuart was a one time thing where she was tipped off a friend and a few people to sell stock in a company before it fell in price which found her guilty of insider trading. Martha was already a stand up person and successful in her own career, she was merely guilty of taking a stock tip http://biography.yourdictionary.com/articles/why-did-martha-stewart-go-to-jail.html

Garza on the other hand has made his career scamming people out of their money, just that article alone tells the tales of dozens of companies he founded and then closed down, receiving grants and not doing the work required, providing shoddy service and generally making big promises in order to receive money without ever doing the work. The dozen companies they talk about don't even include all the websites and Crypto stuff, they only briefly touch on it so would have to be atleast 30+ companies and websites designed to relieve people of their money, charges from more than a dozen companies and groups seeking damages of unpaid debts/lawsuits, false advertising and the list goes on.

Should we make a wager on how much time he does? I'd bet about 10-20 years given the damages being sought is in the multi-millions and there would be many people who would fly out to the trial.
