I agree. We need to archive the archives. There can't be a single point of failure for this. This will go to court and what we're doing here will be blaring visual evidence that he has the plan to scam people the entire time, in his own words. We have the fraud recorded boys, now we just need to get this in court and end this. Or end him at the Miami Conference. I'm not going to be there though. He will have shills in the audience trying to get picked for Q&A to waste everybody's time. Count on it.

Guys you're doing very good work here, i think there are few archive services, try to use them, not just one.

Advice for those mirroring/archiving locally ...

In order to be admissible in court, a copy (archive, mirror, whatever) will need to qualify as admissible evidence.  While there are good arguments that when a wrongdoer has deleted the best/original evidence, copies may be allowed that would not otherwise be admissible; nonetheless, it make it easier for the prosecution lawyers if you archives are ready made to be admissible.

Here are some things you can do if you want to make it easy to get your archive into court.  These are not all requirements, but the more you can follow the better chance the prosecution lawyers will have.  This is U.S. centric, so lawyers from other countries feel free to chime in.

(1) Maintain as a business record in the ordinary course.  If you have a business that regularly archives, archive in a similar manner and keep with other archives.  Do not do anything unusual except possibly in labeling and following preservation guidelines below.

(2) Verification.  Each copy should be able to prove that (a) it is an accurate and complete copy of the original, and (b) it has not been tampered with since the archive was made.  Ideally:

(i) each copy would be made from the original source if still available, and would include something like a checksum to verify that the original and copy are the same,

(ii) each copy would be locked and time stamped using a recognized protocol (for example, generating a secure hash, including the checksum, with a PKI timestamp) so that it can be verified that the copy has not been modified since the date of the archive.

(3) Chain of custody.  Maintain the original archive is a locked room where only a very small number of people have physical access to the server, and use special admin priviletges to ensure that a very limited number of people have write, modify or deletion rights to the archive (or better, a secure data center).  Even better, take the original data archive offline so it is not virtually accessible, and use a copy for offering on mirrors.   Limiting access is the best way to maintain chain of custody.    If you must move it, keep paper records of the move including who had access, for how long, and who "touched" to archive at each step.

Again, given that GAW seems to be actively deleting evidence despite pending accusations (something I would advise clients never to do, as it will almost always hurt them in court), it may not be 100% necessary to follow these procedures.  BUT, it will make a prosecutor's job a lot easier if you do.

Another funny bit from the thread: rootdude arguing that it can't be Josh because it doesn't have any errors:
Quote
There are no spelling or grammatical errors in the post (not Josh)

line 2 then/than
line 3 thought/though
line 4 and but them / and put them
line 5 loose / lose
and a few more

Also funny: the number of people saying they don't see anything wrong with this business plan.

And this:
Quote
If you wrote out a ponzi scheme in three steps, pretty much every investment ever would match it. Same with this plan, you could insert any companies name, and it would be believable. Not because the company is a scam, but because the description is just so vague.

I wonder if they actually know what a Ponzi scheme is?

I would say report them to the FTC since we have that post from the KNC forums, since that is kind of what BFL was doing.

It's certainly sleazy, but what part of that would be illegal?

The imbecility has no floor at HT "Check it out":
https://hashtalk.org/topic/28166/floor-20-for-xpy-is-very-very-easy-lets-check-it-out/3

At least one guy understands the idiocy of this floor suggestion. Josh does not want a floor , he wants a way to dump his endless supply of XPY in exchange for BTC. Figure it the Eff out already.

Well, Josh did say something about the "longest river on the world", which is De Nile.

Short on time again today, but will share some resources in hopes of other people taking the reins.

One of my favorite sleuthing tools is Web Boar (webboar.com).  There, you can search by name, phone number, email address, web address, etc. Playing around on the site, you can find a lot of interesting info (i.e., the 130+ domains registered to JG, etc.).  I started looking at ZenMiner.com a few days back.  Kinda interesting if you google search phone numbers and email addys that are produced by searching webboar. http://www.webboar.com/whois/zenminer.com

Man you're everywhere =) Good on ya for working the scams, keep it up crypto needs people like you  Cheesy.  I stopped following Moolah pretty much figured he's gotten a free ride through court.

They suffer from Stockholm Syndrome.

Its more like suspended belief. Some of these guys have thousands of dollars tied up in all this mess. They are blinded by the fact that this could actually ruin them financially. Sad really. Some of these guys have wives, kids and bills to be paid and they still hang on tightly.

Hey I got a little bit of movement in ltcgear push.

No one really wants to talk about it over there, which is understandable I guess, so it's hard to get a good debate going, but I got a commitment from the mods at litecointalk that they will officially declare it a scam if nothing happens by Jan 9th. This is a critical first step I think and it's good to see that the mods appear to me to be decent people not only in this response but in several other interactions I have observed within the community there.

Well, Josh did say something about the "longest river on the world", which is De Nile.

Only thing I saw was deflection.  I guess they figured they couldn't just keep deleting threads (or maybe they do) without people getting even more suspicious of the on-goings in that organization so they decided to throw the conversation completely off topic.

That's my take, but I could be wrong...  Maybe rootdude is just not really that bad and we have to wait for Josh to lock it down?

I do really love the "It must be someone else impersonating him!"... back in February... because that person knew back then that XPY would be in existance!!! That must be it!!!
