If enough people were to either abstain, or vote "no" on the CURRENT lottery poll, will it really result in the new idea being voted on?

The poll has already received >75% of the vote, so it looks like we will be going ahead with the seat lottery.  I voted for the lotto because I wanted to see longstanding seat holders benefit from it, and going forward with this plan seemed the only way to make that happen before NastyFans opens to the general public.

The poll for a lottery is above 75%. I distributed lottery tickets. You see your tickets when you log in.

The lottery draw for the 338 unowned seats is with block 216777. Good luck nastyfans!

How does this lottery work? All 338 seats go to the winner? Or are there 2nd and 3rd prizes as well?

From the poll page on nastyfans:
Quote
  • Every member receives a lottery ticket for each seat owned at the time the lottery tickets are distributed.
  • Each lottery ticket is numbered. (1-24662)
  • The lottery tickets for a member are visible when the member signs in.
  • A program is used to choose winning lottery tickets.
  • The program uses the tx section of Bitcoin block details to choose winning tickets. The same tickets are chosen if the same Bitcoin block is used. nonnakip tested the program and the results are well distributed. Here is example output using block 213287.
  • The program is available as source code for all to see.
  • After lottery tickets are distributed a future Bitcoin block number is specified that is used for the lottery.
  • The first 338 ticket numbers chosen by the program are winners unless a ticket number appears more than once. Then extra ticket numbers are chosen. A lottery ticket can only win one seat.

The "drawing" isn't for about another 24 hours / nonnakip already said which block will be selected:

Allright, I don't. Guess that means I missed the ticket distribution.

The lottery tickets were distributed at approximately 19:10 (UTC) on 2013-01-14. If you become a member after this you have no tickets. If you do not see a lottery tickets block on your home then you have no tickets.

@nonnakip, a few suggestions:

1. Please, get a free SSL certificate from StartSSL.com for nastyfans.org. This self-signed business is rather unprofessional.

2. When a poll has been decided, close the voting or mark it as decided so people don't waste their time considering their vote after the poll is already closed.

3. Add an "end date" column to the poll overview (or simply change the start date to an end date).

4. Email or any other kind of notification of a new poll would also be appreciated.

It doesn't have to be email, anything else would also be fine. I'm just not very happy with nonnakip trying to force all of us to log on to his site every few days to check if something may have happened (or not). We are already moving away from that with the termination after x days being discussed (and hopefully removed).

I agree, it is not ideal.  I would personally prefer a twitter stream.

No. I can not agree to StartSSL terms. Maybe some fans will donate BTC for a SSL certificate. PM me if yes.

2. When a poll has been decided, close the voting or mark it as decided so people don't waste their time considering their vote after the poll is already closed.

I will change software to show results when 75% yes or 25% no happens. A poll closes when all vote. Some members maybe want to vote after poll is decided. Votes are saved forever.

3. Add an "end date" column to the poll overview (or simply change the start date to an end date).

Not possible. End date is when all members vote. After 30 days unvoted members automatically vote. But the end date can be before if all vote by self.

4. Email or any other kind of notification of a new poll would also be appreciated.

We will see how the @NastyMining twitter stream works. Maybe this is good enough for you.

Thank you for suggestions to make our fanclub better.

I can not agree to StartSSL terms.

Do you mind elaborating on this? I was thinking of using them for my own site.

Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time.
