Any ideas what I can do to have less "Dead" on the pool?

You maybe want to read https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=153232.0. I think it is a good information collection for learning about P2Pool and how to maximize performance. As a NastyPool miner you are not concerned about running p2pool software but there are some miner tips there. Also it is important to understand P2Pool because a lot of miner statistics (hashrate, dead value) have different meaning for P2Pool than for other pools. Most people make the big mistake of comparing these to other pools.

When I created nastyfans web interface I made 3 poor decisions about passwords.
  • I accepted passwords using iso-8859-1 encoding
  • I hashed the urlencoded cgi string
  • I used md5 base BSD password algorithm 1 for hashing

I will not discuss why these are poor decisions. But now I implement new method hashing raw utf-8 passwords using SHA-512. This provides better obfuscation if nastyfans.org is hacked. It also solves problems some members have using old Internet Explorer with symbols in passwords.

The next time you sign in to nastyfans.org your password data will automatically upgrade. In the optimal case no one will notice anything. But since some browsers are very broken it is difficult to predict if the migration works perfect for all members. One concern is utf-8 support on older Internet Explorer browsers.

I share this information so nastyfans are prepared. If you can not sign in or if you can sign in once but then the following sign in fails then maybe you hit a bug. In such a case please PM me or post your problems here.

What nonnakip said, but also the main thing you want to look at is your hash rate average reported by the pool stats over a period of time (say 24 hours). If that matches up with what you think your miner should be doing then you need do no more. If not then you need to dig into where the problem is coming from.

Is the Cointerra still mining at 1.6TH? After about 20 days, mine is only mining at 1.2 and after the upgrade to the latest firmware (7.6), it decreased to below 1.2.  Many in the forum complain about the same problem.

We were running at ~1.6TH/s up until I updated the firmware.  After the firmware upgrade (which from what I can tell lowers the temp limit to 76 degrees from 83 degrees) our machine is throttling like crazy, even in cool ambient temperatures.  The result was a decrease in hashrate down to <1TH/s.  I've just finished downgrading to the prior firmware.  It would be an understatement to say that CoinTerra didn't live up to expectations.  I'm very glad we only have one of these rigs to deal with.

Have you checked the internal fans, or maybe a loose heatsink?

There are warranty voiding stickers all over these things.  I think it's better if we keep the warranty in tact.  I can see the fans are all operating.

What happend with this Poll Result?

--->   [policy change] eliminate required purchase order fees

Usually you change the result to BOLD but not this one, not enough respondents or just an oversight?

After poll closes I must manually trigger abstain for members that did not vote. I did that now.

Yes, I do.  I have been following their development and I think we will have our units in hand within the next 5 weeks.

It´s really intresting, maybe Bitcoin is the only business, where you can fool your customers for such a long time. I´m pretty sure, we aren´t the only ones waiting for their order.

It is very normal in todays hardware industry that products are funded and then horribly late. But it is not normal that end users are aware of it. As example: if instead of crowdfunding with end users BFL could get Sony as sole investor the hardware delays still exist but no one knows except Sony. When the hardware finally finished then Sony does big marketing and sells out the stock. And every one except maybe Sony is happy.

I expect there are companies out there that are doing things like this. So I expect one day we will see a big company suddenly announce ready products. But I think this does not happen until dust from ASIC rat-race settles.

Very well said.
What, it really does get buyers excited then changes that to anger when they do not follow through.
I have been thinking more and more I want one of the BFL Monarch's.  I sent them an email to see if they will have a sample I can test and review for an article on CCN.  I hope they will agree I cannot afford one any other way .
I love testing new equipment and writing about it.  I will have a OneString Miner review publishing in the next couple days.  Grin
Let me know how it runs Og when you get it.
