It’s a half private and half public British firm. They reached out to us to endorse the role of publisher for Spells of Genesis. Publishers in the gaming industry are responsible for product development and marketing, including market research and all aspects of advertising. They usually have more money and more reach than developers. They usually have big marketing budgets and/or a broad network to push the product. In our case All4Games are not committing to invest money directly in customer acquisition but will be offering their communications channels which have a lot of reach, especially to the “non-bitcoin”, mainstream gaming community. All4Games is pretty new to the game publishing business but they succeeded to have one of their games, Super Arc Lite, featured by Apple which is the holy grail of visibility. Publishers usually play a big role in the revenue making of a game. The terms of their participation are on a revenue share model and details are as follows for the game income and the deriving product income: 15% on net revenues from £0 - £100,000 (incl) 20% on net revenues from £100,000 - £200,000 (incl) 25% on net revenues from £200,000 and above Taking the above in consideration, EDS (us) will have to share up to 25% of the revenue. Seen that we burn 50% of the BCY income, once we join this new deal, we will have 12.5% less burn. I started to answer this question for a little while but I'm figuring out I don't fully understand your question. Could you elaborate on how BitCrystals for promo could be used ?

If theirs policy is to get part of revenue, then is troublesome. My point was that there was huge chunk of BitCrystals reserved for Awareness & Promotion. All4Games will be partner that will help SoG with Awareness & Promotion. So should be paid from this bag.

Usually how it works on the industry a game developper provide a game sometime the publisher help to finance it (usually for console game and very expensive games) and the publisher basically sell it. The publisher take a cut usually about 30% to 50%. It's a fair trade since the publisher may allow the product to skyrocket.
The scenario you are suggesting is the following if I'm understanding correctly we give the BitCrystals to the publisher they do their job and they might profit for the increase of value. It's a good idea in essence and I'm sure it will work that way in several years.
But in 2016 it's too early, no multimillion dollar company in the game or show-business industry with well established process will accept to be paid in a blockchain asset. Look how hard is the Bitcoin acceptation so talking about BitCrystals build on top of Bitcoin... They neither have the knowledge or the tools to integrate that in their process. It's also not very wise because a publisher might want to selloff a big bag of BitCrystals right away and have a negative effect to us and BCY holders.
When Spells of Genesis is going to be a planetary hit people in the whole industry might understand that owning digital assets (decentralised trustless, transparent) is worthier than on the good old system (Centralised, Trusted and opaque) people will cry for them.

Also we are very lucky here. They accept to publish Spells of Genesis as it use to blockchain and an open exchange economy. A lot of publisher I talked to liked the game but they said they don't understand the bockchain and the managers will never accept to publish something they don't fully embrace even though it's a great project/idea

The BitCrystals for community are used  for events. Such as the running season 4. Those BCY create a very good traction to keep people playing finding bug and improving the system. As the game release those BCY will be very helpful to keep the game popular and will be a serious advantage over all other games since playing is rewarding.

At the end is less important how they will get paid, but that they will do their job.

The revenue share is  a standard within the industry it is not troublesome it's the way things work.
The game hasn't even launched yet, those BCY could be used in many different ways to setup prizes for tournaments, give rewards to users that test SoG (that is already happening), bounties, etc...
There is still a long way to go for the game to improve and be complete and after that plenty of uses for these BCY.
Having that reserve is necessary, as well as all4games getting their cut of revenue.
As Yodark mentioned if it doesn't work, after a year things can go either way.
I have confidence the team is doing the right thing with this proposal and BCY.
And the fact they ask the community before they take a decision as big as this it is a +1000 for me.

If it would rely on me I would have shared it. But since it will break basic business morale on their side (of course each contract is negotiated privately and it will be damageable for them to have their terms with us disclosed) I unfortunately can't. Actually it is already pretty good of them the allow the revenue share terms to be disclosed
