Maybe I'm still a little unclear on how the system works, but tiny blocks with a 25BTC reward can't be healthy for BTC in general, can it?  That seems like a very small amount of work with a very disproportionate reward attached to it..

There's nothing you can do about this, blocks are found randomly approximately every 10 minutes. Sometimes a block will take 30 minutes and sometimes less than 1 minute. The longer it takes to find a block the more transactions will be in it. It's just the nature of mining.

What you aren't understanding is that it doesn't take any more 'work' to complete a block with 1 transaction vs. a block with 100.  It's in the miners best interest to include as many fee paying transactions as possible as to maximize profits.

it just seems unbalanced, and not as efficient as it could be, as far as the blockchain system is concerned...
I guess there's no way around this though..

In general a miner will include all blocks he knows about at the time.  If he isn't well connected and doesn't 'hear' the transactions, then he can't include them in the block.  Miners wouldn't leave fee paying transactions on the table.

That works out to about 150TH, right?

Bitcoin is the first monetary system to credibly offer perfect information to all economic participants.

Assuming most people do not overclock. The chips are nominally 282 MH/s each, but have been demonstrated to go up to 400 MH/s each.

0.282 * 500000 = 141000 GH/s.

will be shipping shortly.

As in a week. Those chips are in hand and ready to ship. The lead time Avalon announced was 8-10 weeks and it is now week 9.

Article from TGB predicts the total shipment may reach 1 petahash (I seriously doubt it).

Where did you see that? All announcements from Yifu have seemed to indicate the opposite - the chips will ship BEFORE batch 3.

In case anyone didn't already know, I provide escrow services for AM trades only.

Fees are .5btc or .5%, whichever is greater.

It's a small price to pay to be safe. I have dealt in thousands of btc worth of AM shares without a problem.

I think the fact that people have entrusted Dooglus with 36,818 bitcoin would actually make him the most trusted person on the forums currently... Wink

But in all seriousness, I don't know why people seem to pass TaT over for Escrow services.  I've used him for a purchase of 25 shares, he was fast and professional.

edit... besides friedcat of course.

well, from the latest newsletter:

The chips is scheduled to start delivering mid-july in order which they were purchased.
Batch three starts shipping mid-july, expected to finish within 2 weeks as there is no order issues unlike batch #2
