Out of curiosity, are Eric M. and myself the only Canadian AM shareholders here? I know we have more lurking in the shadows!

I'm also Canadian - Toronto. 16 Direct shares, 11 PT shares, so not a fortune like some other people, but still pretty happy on Wednesdays.

That is a great start my friend. When AM really takes off we will need to put together a Canadian Shareholder event/meet up (very serious).

I was in Japan last year with a good friend, this is before I know about Bitcoin. Looking back now I am somewhat surprised that I was not exposed to ฿ in some way, shape or form during my time there. I believe the adoption rate for ฿ in Japan is slow despite the world's largest ฿ exchange residing there (Mt.Gox). I am going to pimp the ฿ out of the cryptocurrency next time I visit.

Lets rename Wednesday !!!

to Bitnesday, Cashnesday, Divnesday or my favorite Catnesday... any more suggestions ?

Divday

D-Day - completely unfriedcat related but that's a toughie ....

Not original. I named it D-Day several posts back. Friednesday has a better ring to it. Cheesy

Call it what you will, for me it is "the morning I wake up, realize what day it is and proceed to fist pump for several minutes". None of my fellow Canucks up here have any idea why I am so damn happy on Hump Day.

I'm a Canadian AM shareholder as well, but I did'nt get in until the price reached 2.5 to 2.8 BTC per share.

Step away for a week and the price has EXPLODED!  Pleasant pleasant surprise.  Where do you think the ceiling is?  Still time to buy in more?

is it known how much of the mining/hardware sales proceeds is kept for AM's expenses? i can see that the change address in dividend transactions is 16fuoinLFjBmiCYmCYDXPNfERJtdPB5ASe, is that then used to pay for expenses?

We do not know the cost basis on ASICMINER hardware.

FC has mentioned that production cost is approximately $10k per TH/s.

Very nice start tomywomy. You're ahead of the majority to be sure.

Yah man I'm in Japan now and besides some Ruby clusters, this place seems to have lower adoption for bleeding edge web/software tech. Hardware (and required software) tech, they're all over it.

I'll be back in Vancouver in a week, ya boys Cool Where are you KarmaShark?

That's... so cheap.

Helps on the profitability side, certainly. It makes you wonder why the competition is sucking so much, even if might cost them 2-3x as much per TH/s.

Not quite. 99% of startups fail in the first year too, we just dont get to hear about 10% of them, they implode early enough. Bitcoin for some reason attracts that missing 9% strongly.

To whoever just bought that put on 1 TAT share on BTC-TC.  You are welcome.

Options are fun, ignorance is bliss, and learning is expensive!

Quote
Hello,

This is a Exercised Option purchase confirmation.

  Account: Aahzmundus
  Security: TAT.ASICMINER
  Total Paid: 3.50875 BTC

Thank you for using BTC-TC

Cue a dozen assholes trying to fish for the same trick.

Meh. If the most you lose is 1-2BTC learning about how options work, that's a small price IMO. Smiley

I honestly don't know and I can't find anything on btct.co, could you explain it for me?

aw cmon the price rising so fast, there goes my ideas of buying more with dividends Sad
ughhh... really guys? can we just keep price atleast stable for a few weeks of dividends? maybe a few months?

lets stop this crazy rise, maybe we can somehow arrange a huge wall or something this way it doesnt go up, and atleast we can reinvest some dividends.... the way its meant to be done Smiley

Instead of buying real shares you can buy options for just a "premium price" and call for real shares later.
(Or don't call if those don't rise in price).
This allows for two things: less capital for investment (until you call) and less capital at risk (you can lose only what you paid for options).

Put options are opposite. When you write option and somebody buys them you promise to buy back shares (if requested) at that specified price.
Even if they are not worth that price.

So both things are kinds of bet.

And in this case, it appears someone bought a put option to purchase 1 share with a strike price of BTC3.5, nearly 100x above the market price.

Call and Put Options can be very risky instruments for inexperienced investors / traders.
Please make sure you understand them completely before using them.
