1001  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you sometimes wish internet was never invented? Wouldn't your life be better? on: July 30, 2014, 12:02:43 PM
The internet has allowed globalization to expand and become a bigger part of the global economy.

It allows the circulation of information very easily so if you want you can get the truth but most people don't look for the truth and internet allows massive surveillance
1002  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you really earn more money because you went to college? on: July 30, 2014, 12:01:45 PM
Each year spent learning in an institution, is one less year you can make buck.

And it will cost you as much as 60k$ + interests in the US
1003  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: July 30, 2014, 12:01:17 PM
That's an interesting way to look at it.
People usually go buy the most expensive stuff so they can _have_ the company logo on it haha.

Yah, I think it's unfortunate, but you're exactly right.  If more people did as I do, then companies would eventually offer discounts to folks who left the logo.  Which, IMHO, would be better for everyone.  As a consumer, I know that when I see a company logo on someone's product, that that person got paid to put it there and as a buyer, I can decide if I want to sell my advert space or if I'd rather keep it clean.

Consider, for example, that until very recently, only FC Barcelona (of the worldwide budget clubs) kept a shirt with no advertizements on it.  Nowadays they finally caved and sold the chest.  Then you can compare that to the nascar guys who have logos on every inch of their suit and their car.

When you wear a football shirt you pay to advertise companies

It is a great deal for the club and the companies

Just signed up with PD. Happy earning everyone Wink
-I, of course, removed this post from my starting count-

Welcome to the campaign with regular and guaranteed payouts

How much activity to become a member?

60.
It will take about two months from your registration date.

It's 50 activity and 50 posts tbh

No it isn't.

0 Activity: Newbie
30 Activity: Jr. Member
60 Activity: Member
120 Activity: Full Member
240 Activity: Sr. Member
480 Activity: Hero Member

They should make upgrade in you account rank going by multiples of 14 activity, or update activity every 15 days.

Kind of sucks being caped at 56 activity in Junior status, or  as full member with 238. This makes the real time to get until a given status around 14 days longer.

If then, the activity required may probably just be increased to 70 and 252 (multiples of 14). Smiley

For your information, theymos did increase the activity requirements from time to time.

When the activity system was first set up, you just need 200 and 400 activity to be a Sr. Member and a Hero Member
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=237597.msg2543371#msg2543371

Didn't know that, they will probably increase it again within 3 years or add a new status : veteran or something at 960

Someone suspected that "mysterious investor" was uptweets, who has completely vanished since the incident.
Looks to be the case, but what I cannot understand is why uptweets hasn't taken the coins out of the cold wallet yet.

He doesn't need to, he will clean the BTC when he needs the money

You would think he would like to make the BTC disapeared right away but apparently he doesn't
1006  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: July 27, 2014, 08:53:55 PM
Brazil must win this cup or it would risk a third world war
Looking back at this, I am sure nobody would have guessed that Brazil would have been trounced to death like that, and then beaten by a dead goat after it.  Brutal match, hilarious and Brutal.  But the real surprise was watchingt eh U.S get ousted so early on, I thought for sure they would win the whole thing. Grin

I must say, after watching their first 3 games in the group I really was disappointed, it was obvious that Brazil is not strong enough to win World cup.
Germany really shower from the very beginning that they are very strong team.
USA did great, and also Mexico, Algeria, Columbia, and few others teams.
In my opinion quality of this World cup was very good.
I really enjoyed all games Smiley

You forgot Argentina France Netherlands and Costa Rica who played really well but were not always lucky
1007  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you really earn more money because you went to college? on: July 27, 2014, 08:53:04 PM
Sir Richard Branson and Warren buffet, are proof you do not need a stinking diploma, when you make bank like that you can just buy the university of your choice  Grin

I can entertain the notion that a degree is not particularly important, in the scheme of things. But this is a really weak argument. No one here is going to wake up tomorrow and work themselves up to being Warren Buffet.... Roll Eyes

Why not?

Apparently a lot of members don't think you really earn more money because you went to college, think you do earn more money in some fields or because people know you are likely to have some qualities associated with a college degree but if a lot of students made a bad deal going into huge debts and spending years to get a worthless degree
1008  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: July 27, 2014, 08:50:58 PM
Maybe 1000 would be nice, but that would just bring a lot of spammers.
Now he is reducing more in near future as bringing pay per activity which give some more tough time for spammers

well, how does that work? max acitivty you gain is 14 every 14 days

One way that could work is, you would get paid some btc amount per activity point you have; it's likely you would also need to make a minimum number of posts in a month, to ensure you're still actively participating in the forum. This would probably be a good way to eliminate spam and cut on promotion costs, but it's not very fair for users who post a lot, I guess.

The number of posts with a PD signature will likely go down thus PD's exposure will go down as well

1010  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crossed 500 USD - Bull Market returns ? on: July 27, 2014, 08:48:37 PM
A lot of people are waiting for price drop to buy. Even my coworker who was anti-bitcoin, claiming its a ponzi scheme is now waiting for $400 to buy in.

You are right but it is a bit weird since if people want to buy they should think the price is low at the moment

If we cross 500USD again it will be the return of a severe bear market
1011  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Most Popular Bitcoin Game! | 700M+ Bets | 400k+ BTC Wagered | on: July 27, 2014, 08:47:36 PM
There isn't one at the moment but apparently one will come along with the release of PD3. You'll just have to wait for the details on that which I'm sure will be released shortly.

The excitation on PD3 has been building up for months!

The only active program is the campaign signature that gives away up to 0.48BTC/month at the moment

1013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ask Amazon for Bitcoin Payments on: July 27, 2014, 08:44:33 PM
I think if Amazon gets enough fuss, (People keep saying I am buying at Overstock.com until you accept Bitcoin) they will have to cave.

It would take a lot of people to make this happen but every little message to them will help in the long run.

Yes once Bitcoin has enough people using it, businesses will start allowing Bitcoin payments
1014  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and Deflation of Price and Money Supply on: July 27, 2014, 09:06:03 AM
What is happening in Argentina is a movement from inflation to hyperinflation.
People now believe inflation is ingrained in the currency and it is a continuous policy of the government, so they are freeing themselves from Argentinian Pesos whatever be the actual currency supply expansion.

Specific good/service prices increase can not be foretell from currency inflation because the Central Bank and the government can not control or foresee exactly where the new money will flow after they give it away.

Exactly, that is how the hyperinflation is ignited, when everyone tries to get rid of the coins as fast as possible.

When the government is lying and printing like there is no tomorrow, people expect a lot of inflation which fuels inflation

Precious metals and Bitcoin are a good edge against inflation if you manage to protect it from those who want to steal it..
1015  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you really earn more money because you went to college? on: July 27, 2014, 09:04:18 AM
Absolutely yes

How are you sure?
1016  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you sometimes wish internet was never invented? Wouldn't your life be better? on: July 25, 2014, 03:31:06 PM
Just about everywhere I go, I see people on their smartphones...on the bus, walking down the street....  A couple weeks ago, I saw someone sitting on their front porch in the middle of a beautiful day, just staring at their smartphone.  It's so sad--people miss so much beauty because they're buried in their phone.

Maybe some of them are just using their time on the bus doing something intelligent. Reading the news, a book, listening to TED talks, doing something creative. I don't see how this is worse than looking into the empty eyes of people on a commuter train. I've been there!

Most people looking at screens on trains are not doing something intelligence thus are not in the process of better themselves but if you are, it doesn't matter than it is a screen
Meditation and thinking on the train can be very empowering and beneficial, not all thoughts are empty
1017  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you really earn more money because you went to college? on: July 25, 2014, 03:29:19 PM
Simple answer is no.

Your just taking a chance like everyone else.

That's not the case. Not everyone has the same intelligence or ambition. Some will be more successful than others given a college education.

You wont be successful if majority took the same route. I say chance like a lotto ticket because its not a guarantee to a job.

But you`ll have to pay $20k thats for sure certain. Keep in mind, that you cant or erase for file a chapter 7 bankcruptcy on student loans, so people planning not to pay back good luck with that.

And by the time you made your money in a white collar job, your not really enjoying esp when your old as hell.

You mind as well take that route though, if you dont have a plan to make some real money. People settle for whatever, some people settle for $30,000 per month its up to the person.

What does old have to do with anything?

The guys have the money but the reason they don't get to enjoy their money is because 99% of them are married to women and the women are the ones who get to enjoy the money.  A lot of white collar professionals out there with money-spending wives and four kids who would be happier if they had remained a bachelor and spent their money on cars, boats and hot escorts.

Quite a statement; the bachelor life is fun but a bit empty, building things on the "long term" is more difficult thus more interesting

Stability and children do bring happiness with the correct state of mind and conditions

Simple answer is no.

Your just taking a chance like everyone else.

That's not the case. Not everyone has the same intelligence or ambition. Some will be more successful than others given a college education.
Would you really say that college would allow success to happen because someone is smart

So he would suceed bc he is smart
1018  Economy / Economics / Re: Global Financial Crisis scenarios on: July 25, 2014, 03:26:50 PM
do you think we`ll see something again like 2008? Its been 6 years already ever since that moment.
The 2008 collapse was something that generally happens less then once per lifetime.

The conditions to get the 2008 collapse are all there only bigger : reckless doing, 0% interest rate, government manipulation of markets, heavy regulation; except this time they will probably inflate the USD to make everyone whole so the stock market may not nominally go down
1019  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: July 25, 2014, 03:23:43 PM
100% have to go with bitcoin on this one!

It is better to diversify its assets : some Gold, some Bitcoin, some natural ressources companies
1020  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: July 24, 2014, 10:56:54 AM
