1001  Economy / Economics / Re: Tether's market cap is huge! (usdt) on: December 22, 2020, 10:01:46 AM
I use Tether as a crypto-fiat gate only, not for long term storage, so I don't worry about my USDT holdings, they are relatively small.
This actually the best use case when it comes to these stablecoin as a temporary way to store our money really. Basically a place to resort when we gonna cut lose while market getting dumped fast. But the idea of a stable coin having this kind of humongous market cap is kinda disturbing although that's only my opinion. Honestly USDC or any other stablecoin should really give a competition to USDT by increasing listing in most of market. USDT is already too comfortable being most preferred stablecoin just because the simple fact that its listed everywhere.
1002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What's your opinion about today's Altcoin market situation? on: December 22, 2020, 09:32:46 AM
The altcoins market for several days is quite good, there are no significant losses and gains, everything looks very stable. I take the occasional opportunity to trade and make short-term profits.
yeah it's really profitable to trade for short term right now, making profit off margin since the prince seems like doesn't move that much but occasional dumping is there, just how we control our emotion when the dumps happening or we missed the buying train.
Moreover the alts like ETH more specifically XRP, everyone could make profit off its hype where they announce airdrop and dump when people buying.
1003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where DeFi is headed on: December 22, 2020, 07:36:32 AM
DeFi concept is not a bad idea. It is that some rug used to mess people you, which i am one of the victims. I still like some Defi project till date. Decentralized Finance is a nice idea to me as a financial student.
I think it's because the nature of Defi founders that usually are anonymous and prefer to not reveal their identity meanwhile trying to deal with public's money.
If defi founders actually want to reveal themselves and as a result shows no bad record then it might be really viable option for us in the future.
We need to make people understand that defi needs to be tested its credibility.
1004  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin touch 22000$. 🤑 what's Next? on: December 21, 2020, 10:56:17 AM
I think there should be a correction... Maybe after the 24,000 mark... A parabolic rise is never permanent, and corrections on such a rise happen on a massive scale!
I mean, correction often happens after pump and it's really normal but considering all the things happening around bitcoin including the massive buys made by those investment firm isn't this bullish market is kinda an exception to the usual cyclic correction?
Though that's just my opinion but imagine if the price keeps on increasing just because there's forces to drive like paypal opening up service to exchange bitcoin and such.
1005  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2021 Bitcoin Cycle(Bullrun) vs 2017 Bitcoin Cycle(Bullrun) on: December 21, 2020, 09:29:38 AM
Difference is that in 2017 most of people who bought bitcoin don't even had an idea what owning bitcoin means and most of them are just somehow overhyped and follow the trend of multiplying money using an ICO until the market can't sustain anymore and it flops. Right now instead the market got money flows in by those big investors and large corporation which might means that our market have stronger foundation.
1006  Economy / Economics / Re: David Rosenber: Bitcoin is in a 'massive bubble' on: December 21, 2020, 06:48:45 AM
Everything is bubble nowadays. Some says stock market is in bubble, same goes for real estate and now bitcoin maybe next crypto as a whole is in bubble when the market goes for bull run.

I'm no expert but in my opinion market correction is by no mean a bubble as long as it could reach its ATH within few years like Bitcoin did and he said that the bitcoin trend right now is just classic follow-the-herd and I definitely disagree with that. There's reason why so many online merchants out there starting to accept BTC for payment. It's not as useless as he pictures it.
1007  Economy / Economics / Re: Buying a Tesla with Bitcoin on: December 20, 2020, 03:29:40 PM
this picture really shows how bitcoin really preserve its value and even goes beyond huh? meanwhile the traditional paper money have a hard time retaining its value bitcoin keeps on increasing its value and now we see only takes 1.5 for a tesla.

I guess never once people in the past thought how big potential btc really has. the paper money really feels like bad investment at this point
1008  Economy / Economics / Re: The Way how things are going and fiat and crypto on: December 20, 2020, 10:15:15 AM
I too think the same thing, eliminating cash is unnecessary and to have many alternative is definitely better. Each individual has their own need and priority after all, not to mention the Internet not yet covered the whole earth.

For example CBDC might just become alternative like the existing centralized service like Apple pay or Google pay, not everyday used but improves quality of life by making things easier.
1009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel about altcoin long-term performance? on: December 20, 2020, 07:58:33 AM
I mean it's not fair to compare the ATH between bitcoin and alts while they all have their own cycle.
But, if we are talking about its long term prospect since the alts was released more specifically the major coins it's already satisfying enough.

The dilemma of holding alts for long term is that it can be crushed anytime bitcoin make a move which is kinda bafd.
1010  Economy / Economics / Re: Steve Wozniak's Blockchain Venture Reaches $950M In 13 Minutes on: December 19, 2020, 08:48:59 AM
What I amazed most is not how fast this crypto founded by Steve Wozniak has grown but how it's gonna address the climate change, considering that the crypto itself grows so significantly and reached that much of market cap, I guess the contribution of this coin towards addressing climate change gonna be game changer  in the future for the imminent problem we have since the industrial revolution begins.

This is definitely more effective way than just making some parade or shouting about climate change nonstop 24/7.
1011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about DeFi? on: December 19, 2020, 07:49:06 AM
If defi turns out to be revolutionary and really bring benefit it could hold for long.

The problem about defi in the past is people always overhyping it, making it gets more attention than it deserves and the funding is always too much for a project that didn't really do much.

If any, it's gonna create a new system that's inspired from defi but maybe better. Hopefully it won't end and just vanish to thin air.
1012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: (Yes or NO) The 2020s belong to DEXs on: December 19, 2020, 04:35:58 AM
I think the Year 2020 does not belong to DEXs because few peoples are using DEXs. Most people use centralized exchange due to the fast liquidity to any altcoin and withdraw payment into any altcoin. DEXs have limited liquidity. Just one blockchain-based token is traded; this is truly centralized exchanges that are not more secure than DEXs, but Dexs users are less than centralized exchanges.
You must remember that uniswap is a dex and probably you've seen yourself that uniswap users are so many that it floods the whole ethereum blockchain and make it clogged. Many similar service like sushiswap also emerging, maybe it's not that obvious but DEXes are growing so fast and rapid right now.
1013  Economy / Speculation / Re: I bought BTC at 23.5K$ on: December 18, 2020, 09:08:56 PM
if you plant to hold it for a long time for example holding until the new ATH reached maybe in another year it's maybe gonna worth it but buying at the peak of the chart like this is always bad idea.

I mean why you just try to buy it when we've already reached new ATH though. arent there plenty of times before price rally where BTC is "cheap" enough? Maybe just wait until another correction?
1014  Economy / Economics / Re: Tether's market cap is huge! (usdt) on: December 18, 2020, 09:40:47 AM
The rumours about their coin not really pegged to dollar in 1:1 ratio is kinda worrisome though. I don't really know how they could grow this fast though hopefully if I save up my USDT in some of exchange for just temporary if the worst case happening reveals that USDT gonna flop I could quickly exchange it to something else like ETH, BTC or another stablecoin.

To me, USDC is really promising nowadays but everyone still uses USDT. However, never trust privatized centralized stablecoin as you would trust decentralized exchange, just use it as you need it.

1016  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum vs Eth2 on: December 15, 2020, 10:11:05 PM
Eth to eth 2.0 conversion will be automatic and basically they are one and the same coin so why do we even need this comparison?
Secondly we need to understand that eth 2.0 is a set of upgrades and improvements in the eth network that can take 1 to 2 more years to take place.
Even when you have wanna become ethereum 2.0 validators and what you need to deposit your current ethereum to the staking deposit contract. The transition from the ethereum POW to the POW will be happening and I thought that also if this comparison is not really needed at all. Ethereum could also go for the hybrid system that will make both become co-exist.
1017  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think that the price of bitcoin is going to exceed 20,000$? on: December 15, 2020, 11:13:59 AM
Already at $19.2K marks right now and stuck, but reaching $20K is piece of cake honestly if there are any pump in the future we might see bitcoin breaking through $20K marks for real. The market right now is not heavily driven by hype so hopefully the price gonna hold on for a long period.

Honestly, if we really breakthrouigh $20K resistance we might see bitcoin goes even beyond what people expected which is $25K but maybe that's for another year not this year. Really waiting for this to happen honestly, gonna see how alt market behave aswell whether dumped or pumped.
1018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO was fair, IEO did well, STO flopped, now IDO - Is it going to survive? on: December 15, 2020, 07:53:03 AM
What kind of DEX we are talking about here? DEXes honestly are kinda lacking the volume and liquidity .
With IEO you get a more secured version of ICO (reviewed by the exchange responsible for IEO) as well as being listed by popular exchange that opens up to billions of dollars worth liquidity meanwhile most of the DEX I know allow self-listing by the developers of a project.
I honestly don't think that IDO gonna works out but we don't know for sure until the first one take place.
1019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $8.2 million worth WNXM token has been hacked on: December 15, 2020, 05:31:03 AM
You expect me to believe that 😒? It seems like every DeFi projects are now using hacks to dodge some blames and responsibilities, it's more like a planned work, sorry mate I don't believe DeFi hacks anymore, there is now more that meet the eye

DEFI hacks are very possible, but it's also true that the rate at which these platforms get hacked, one might suggest some developers do it on purpose. Well, I doubt if a successful project like WNXM will forge a hack, this is a call for all DEFI platforms to keep advancing their security since hackers keep looking for new means to bypass security.
But if the hacker is real, the fact that they got easily hacked means this project doesn't deserve the success. I know most of these defi projects are in early stage where the exploits are still many and unknown but we are talking about big money here where smallest mistake could cost fortune.
Even the fact that they try to reward the hacker if they return all the token means they somehow can't do much to make the stolen coin back.
1020  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The DeFi Red Flags on: December 14, 2020, 06:02:37 PM
Usually the biggest red flag is when the defi project is a giant mess of an existing defi clone. Its basically added with some unecessary gimmicks and call it feature.

There are too many such defi projects that just seems very obvious but people still falling into the same trap. Moreover, if the dev themselves is anonymous why bother putting a money into the project isn't that the most obvious red flag as of now? kinda baffles me when people investing to a project who don't even reveal who's behind it and complaint when they lose the money.
