Here are a couple of examples of the prefix being 1 char off than displayed on the coin.

Four Images... 2 front/2 back  (2 coins)
http://imgur.com/a/JLSdC

1AgNXMs is actually 1AgNXMsk  http://casascius.uberbills.com/?address=1AgNXMskH1AHJLx3AGZGTHVYAhsTkVGZy2
1AgB6XH is actually 1AgB6XHg  http://casascius.uberbills.com/?address=1AgB6XHgbawDgZ1MBxhaxr8BZbudAeVg9n

If you search Casascius list or uberbills, it will show the full prefix (8 Characters instead of 7).  Fortunately, uberbills shows the closest coin instead of simply an error saying it doesn't match anything.  I will look for S1 examples if I get time.

(I have previously stated firstbits.... Yes, I know it's really the 'prefix' and what the difference is.)
1002  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 500 BTC Casascius Bar potentially for sale on: January 27, 2016, 03:23:06 PM
Any update on this ?

Mike hasn't contacted me on it.

I can't get past the topic of it being 'potentially for sale'.   No sense making a real offer if it isn't actually for sale.  I am sure there are plenty of people that would like to get it (scammers included), but few know what to offer (me included) on something not actually for sale.

I will update if Mike contacts me.  I will not update if I actually am able to get it.   <wink>

1003  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Taking Offers] 2011 Casascius Error Coin - Raw on: January 27, 2016, 03:35:13 AM
Is the last digit missing on the hologram?

I noticed that also, but it must not have been printed from what I can tell? The coin does not look handled to me in any way. Here is the full address -> https://blockchain.info/address/17jQvv24kHXpW9RctP2SoE12Z8Z45euQG9

So it is missing "4"

After typing a long response, I closed the window - Damn.  Retyping most of it here....

Polish - As a common test, you can rub the coin with your finger or better yet, a q-tip.  Typically, you will find it leaves a black residue from the polish that you can't see until rubbed.
My very first coin was given to me for my birthday years ago when the coin was worth $30.  He was rubbing it with windex and the letters were lighter.  I thought it was a dumb way to do the stickers, but I guess it didn't matter since the Pkey was still secure under it.  Smiley

With the above said, I have sent in many coins to be graded.  I thought ANACS messed up on a couple, because I noticed that the label on the case was diff than the first bits I sent in (being a character missing).  It turns out that uberbills / casascius list shows a one more than the coin was showing.   So, it's possible you simply have a misprint of the last character.  Can this be considered a double error cause of the spelling and missing character?  Probably not, but maybe so on the S2 coins which are printed under the label.  (Really just an alignment issue when printing)

I will get a couple of pictures tomorrow (if I get a chance) of such coins.
1004  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [CLOSED] 2011 Casascius 25 BTC Coin / Graded MS-62 / Funded with 40BTC on: January 25, 2016, 06:08:22 AM
Well, that's a shame.  I would have offered more if you were showing that you had interest.

That said, it means there is one less coin making the rest more rare.  Thank you.

Strangely, you will probably get close to the same value by the peeling and selling the blank.
Also, going the route you did is far more safe and less time consuming.  Smiley
1005  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 2011 Casascius 25 BTC Coin / Graded MS-62 / Funded with 40BTC on: January 24, 2016, 03:19:22 PM

Michail1, would you get it regraded??

No, I would keep the coin in the current state.  Because, it's nice to have the 'older' encapsulation cert date.

Would it grade higher?  Probably, but everyone knows older coins received lower grades.  Knowing this, it's better to have the lower cert number in my opinion.

I believe the OP is going to peel it and sell the redeemed coin since he would get about the same value as selling the coin as is and without the risk of shipping, etc.

Personally, I would rather see it peeled as it would raise the value of everyone elses since there would be one less in existance.   Smiley
1006  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 2011 Casascius 25 BTC Coin / Graded MS-62 / Funded with 40BTC on: January 23, 2016, 09:27:03 PM
If you do not see a difference Take a look on nickname
loglow (orginal)   Loqlow  ( fake name)
I see, but according to what I've seen with such scam attempts, the thread usually links to another site. And the one you posted redirects to Ognasty's actual thread. Could you use the Quote function?

Uhhh, what?

The point is, there is a scammer trying to accept an offer already lower the previous offers on the coin with a nick similar to the seller and just registered.  Quotes don't matter.

My offer is 40.50
1007  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 500 BTC Casascius Bar potentially for sale on: January 23, 2016, 04:44:02 PM
Mike, notify me if Michail1 outbids me or if anyone else does.

 Wink

I would be interested in the coin.   Since this is not an auction, there is no sense bidding.  Let me know if you're going to sell.
David is on target with the value of the coin though.
1009  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 500 BTC Casascius Bar potentially for sale on: January 23, 2016, 03:43:44 PM
I am definitely interested in the one that is still intact. I will Pm you the offer soon.

EDIT: I'll go ahead and beat Michail1 offer. 500btc + 5k USD for the intact bar.

I will not raise my offer in this thread.  I am interested in the bar though and willing to discuss price directly.
Mike, you have my email address and phone number.
1010  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 500 BTC Casascius Bar potentially for sale on: January 23, 2016, 03:33:02 PM
Well, I thought it would have happened faster, but scammer already trying.

Take note that he is quoting another account which appears to have been registered 1.5 years ago with zero posts.  Probably his account as well.

This scammer is also fake quoting OgNasty.

Hi charles_chad,

Thank you for the offer but for a trade this size I would only feel comfortable trading with a well known and trusted forum member.

I am interested in the bar.

Since no one has made an offer and this isn't an auction, I will just low ball to get a number started other than simply saying I am interested....
I offer BTC + $2k

(A bump to the thread to get notifications since I rarely come to BCT)

First thing Michail1 is to thank you for a strong and generous offer.  This will go a long way to help the family get straight after their recent and unexpected loss.

Bitcoin + $2k = 505BTC

I dropped OgNasty a pm for Escrow to keep everything above board and impartial -

Hi casascius,

It would be an honor to act as Escrow for this trade and please pass my condolences on to the family.

You guys know the Escrow routine so I wont go in to all the details.

Please use the Escrow address in the first post of my main Escrow thread on the forum :

Kind regards,

OgNasty

The one pictured in my thread is Chainsaws.

I had it listed a long time ago for 1000 BTC because he felt more comfortable having me assess it's value + with that high of a listing.  I tend to be fairly confident asking high prices for rare items and catching shit over it Smiley.

He will entertain offers directly though and you're welcome to confirm what I said here with him.

Oh, ok.  Makes sense now.   Thanks.
1012  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 500 BTC Casascius Bar potentially for sale on: January 22, 2016, 07:59:11 PM
Seems a bit low in my eyes for a 1 of 2 piece and it being the only one still not redeemed.

It'd be a shame to have both of the 500btc bars redeemed IMO.

Little confused here.  If chainsaw has one and you have one, then what is Mike selling?  Unless chainsaw passed away or you sold yours to him (or vise versa).

Just to be clear on my starting offer,  I am only interested in an intact bar.   PM sent to Mike with details.

No pictures?  Everything does better with pictures.
1016  Other / Archival / Re: ANACS Casascius Grade Populations (MS70s EVERYWHERE!) on: January 06, 2016, 04:26:13 PM
MS70 0.5 Silver s2 - would pay 10 btc

I would be interested in that too.   Smiley

What sucks about ANACS in this case is that the series are not indicated.
1017  Other / Archival / Re: ANACS Casascius Grade Populations (UPDATED Table) on: January 05, 2016, 04:17:07 AM
There is quite an issue with their reporting.

Example - Doesn't even show a 25BTC coin filling the chart.  If you check the cert number that Blazed gave you, you will not see an indication of it being a 25BTC even though the actual grade shows it is.  I have confirmed this with a few cert numbers.  So, your chart shows the 25Bitcoin simply as a blank variety.  (Not your fault, just ANACS).

I can help populate the chart.  Smiley

1018  Other / Archival / Re: ANACS Casascius Grade Populations on: December 31, 2015, 11:24:36 PM
So, need one of each type in order to get a full report?  (Or simply type in enough random cert numbers to get it?)

Is Titan Bitcoin under criminal investigation? They better be....
"not yet funded", eh Titan??

So, I thought Todamont wasn't going to say anything again, but he simply makes another account to post with.
Kid just can't keep his mouth shut.  If he really had an attorney, the first thing they tell you is to keep quiet.

By the way, thanks for the couple of worthless negative ratings.  They have no value coming from an negative account as yours anyway.

Note:
I never suggested any money be given to anyone else.  I said that if it (bug bounty award) was given to a charity, I would match it.
You still fail to see the difference of money you were scammed out of and bug bounty award.
Call me a scammer?  How so?
I never said you were a theif.
How do you define Slander as I have not committed it.
- Slander is when you called me a scammer (within ratings) without having scammed anyone.
- Slander is when you said I suggested stolen money be given to a third party.  Which I haven't (suggested third party nor stolen money).

Vacation!

Looks like I might finally get a free vacation...
Go ahead and send me your IRL info and I'll make sure you get a summons to Tim Fillmore's trial.

Todamont would have to pay for my flight and hotels and expenses, right?
I always love going to California.  It's been like 15 years.  I wanna see wallyworld.

I am curious as to why you would think bringing me to your trial of baseless accusations would net any results for you.  If anything, it would be detrimental.

[edit] - Todomont is now neg rating everyone for slander.  This kid is a joke.
