1001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best coin to buy right now on: June 25, 2017, 02:36:13 PM
Aside from bitcoin, I have nem/xem. I think it is a good coin with good sets of developers. I have bought early so I am in good profit now but the price is still very low.  It is a good time to buy before they launch catapult which may push the price above 1$.
1002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin forks on 1st August, which fork would my coins end up on? on: June 25, 2017, 02:17:36 PM
Make sure that you're not holding your coins in a wallet that doesn't give you access to private keys. This is especially important if you're looking to prepare for scenarios like the ones mentioned in OP. While unlikely, it'd be possible for services where you're holding coins at to not give you access to certain token created after a chain split.
First op needs to be put through that 2 distinct activities with 2 distinct dates are involved in the Bitcoin Scaling Agreement. First is that come August 1st, a soft fork (segwit) would take place and one does not necessarily have to do anything, because segwit is backwards compatible to almost all wallets. Six months later comes the hard fork, which is much of what op is asking to know. As he must have read, that would entail a change in code base and the nodes shall be required to upgrade their software to be compatible. That is when where your coins are, becomes an issue.

I think what you are saying is segwit2x which caught attention lately because miners signal reaches 80%. If this happens, august 1 or bip148 or uasf will be prevented.
1003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 5 grand.. 5 coins... 5 years on: June 25, 2017, 01:32:59 PM
Currently I am only invested in two, bitcoin and nem. But if I need to pick 5 coins, maybe I will go with eth, waves and ripple to complete the 5. Eth because I think it achieved a lot in a small time.
1004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin forks on 1st August, which fork would my coins end up on? on: June 25, 2017, 01:26:06 PM
If you hold the private keys, then in both. The blockchain won't be changed until the fork time, so you will have the same coins in the other fork too.

But if you use a service that don't allow you to get private key(exchanges, online wallets, casinos, etc...) you probably will get nothing.

So it's recommended to withdraw all your bitcoin to your wallet where you have access to your private key so by before that date comes so before that date many online exchanges will experience massive withdrawal or it's much better to trade your bitcoin to other exchange then trade it back to bitcoin once everything is settled.

This is possible but for me it is better if you store it in fiat rather than an altcoin. Altcoin might be affected by the bitcoin price going down as well and alts price go down. But if it is in fiat, if the price of bitcoin move down, your fiat is not affected, it can even purchase more bitcoin.
1005  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2016/17 NBA Season on: June 25, 2017, 12:23:26 AM

Alright let's back to discussion people. Everything seems to be fine and hoping that no one will create a new thread for the discussion of NBA so that we can make this thread like the wall observer at the speculation section. I'm excited to see updates from every teams regarding their rosters and changes.

Well others just want to make an increase in their post count especially during finals when there are numerous NBA threads that is popped up although we can have a discussion right here directly at this thread.

Back to discussion, look like the player with boastful father is now favored in early prediction for who will bag next season's Rookie of the Year. Publicity makes them looks famous. I will follow this kid and sees if his fathers saying really authenticate as I watched some of kid's video at college basketball recently and the performance is kinda nice.

It will be a tough year for that kid because his father painted a target on the kid's back. Thrash talking nba superstar like lebron and saying that his kid will take the lakers into finals his first year, that's a very big word to say. Every superstar on nba will put a pressure on that kid.
1006  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: June 24, 2017, 12:15:51 AM
First time I heard about it.

So let's say I buy 10,001 XEM's.

Then I need to put them into Vested balance mode right?

So my XEM's wont be available any more ? they're like in a "loan" status?

If you can give me some examples/calculations that will be great, so I can jump right on it Smiley

Nope, you can still spend them if you like but your vested balance decreases along with your importance. Your wallet balance becomes vested balance slowly overtime but it is not removed from your wallet.
1007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: June 24, 2017, 12:02:49 AM

yes ive harvested over 6K of XEM from launch Cheesy

Is it worth it to harvest if you have just the minimum required vested balance? How much does it earn in nem in a month? I am wondering if I will pull my nem out of trading platform and just make it work on harvesting or just continue speculating and try to earn more by taking advantage of the ups and downs of price.
1008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pacquiao VS Horn (Boxing) on: June 23, 2017, 07:30:16 PM
Pacquiao need to retire on his boxing career because he already made a name of his own. so much better if he retired because he has a stable job and also one of the billionaire in the philippines. he don't need the fame because he is already famous much better if he focus on his senatorial job in his country than going on his boxing career.

and he might get knocked and have irreparable damage. At his age, he will not be healing fast enough, so maintaining a good health is a must and fighting more fights is against that. Even without the reasons you mentioned, Health is more than enough reason to stop boxing at his age. He should be more active on promoting sports by supporting grass roots and doing better job at the senate.
1009  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2016/17 NBA Season on: June 23, 2017, 07:11:50 PM
How about GSW powering up again by acquiring Jordan Bell? Cavs fans have more reason to hate dub nation now.

It's still about NBA but well yeah it's for the season of 2017/2018 so I guess someone will create the new thread for us. But I don't think op will lock or close this thread. He looks more focus with alt coins and local threads.

Nope, he will just change the title of the thread just like he did last year.

1010  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 per bitcoin on: June 23, 2017, 06:31:32 PM
If this coin gets anymore volatile, people are just going to think of it as a pump and dump, or scam shit, we have to get the volatility down so people actually join in on this.

Since the beginning it was already labeled as scam or shit but it survived and even reaching this high. I think that will not be a problem. The real problem is the scaling which I hope will be solved by segwit2x or bip 148, which ever pushed through.
1011  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 per bitcoin on: June 23, 2017, 05:13:44 PM
It will come when it comes. I do not want to expect to have 10K per bitcoin when we have not even crossed 5K or 3K. Let us see first how things will roll out after the soft or hard or uas fork. After that we may clearly see what lies ahead for bitcoin.
1012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BREAKING NEWS]: Satoshi Nakamoto Is Dead!!! on: June 23, 2017, 03:41:54 PM
Unless he bequeath his bitcoin to his relatives and those relatives start dumping their bitcoin, satoshi dying will have no effect to bitcoin and its price. Everything is already in order. There are devs taking care of development. He may have started it but he already left bitcoin in good hands.
1013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How are you preparing yourself for the 1st of August? on: June 23, 2017, 02:44:42 PM
The price of bitcoin will really take a hard hit if others will follow op's move to dump bitcoin for alt-coin. But if we do not dump, just move our coins into a secure wallet where we control the private key, it will be fine. We do not have to panic because hard fork may not even happen.
1014  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Advice- Should friend send 6500 USD to just one exchange? on: June 22, 2017, 09:17:15 PM
How much possible are these scenarious talking about Bistamp exchange? He will have to have the money there for some time (weeks/months) before the price drops to 1500 or similiar (hes buying point/price).

It is not wise to park your money in an exchange for an extended amount of time whether it is fiat or btc. Get in and get out. If you are going to.wait for btc price to drop to 1500, it might not happen. But if you are still willing to wait for that price, hold your money somewhere else and deposit it when it is already on that price.
1015  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10K at the end of 2017? on: June 22, 2017, 02:49:39 PM
If ever bitcoin reaches 10k this year, it is just a bubble and will burst as soon as it touch 10000.  It is better if the price move slowly up with good support. This way,the price will be maintained and newbies who just entered in the high price will not be ripped because the price will not crash easily.
1016  Economy / Exchanges / Re: I'm still new in cryptocurrency world on: June 22, 2017, 01:46:06 PM
You do not control the private keys of the wallet in exchanges and they can be attacked or hacked just like what happened to bitfinex. In those cases, you cannot protect your bitcoin. That is why it is not advised to leave your bitcoins on exchanges for a long time.
1017  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sell Bitcoin ahead of 1st Aug Hard Fork on: June 21, 2017, 05:23:57 PM
People will not stop spreading FUD for various of reasons. I think your sources are just spreading FUD. If you are in profit when you sold your bitcoin, then I guess it is alright. It is the FUD like this that will cause more damage to bitcoin than the actual uasf on Aug 1st. And even if a chain split happens on that day, I am confident the price will not drop that much.
1018  Economy / Economics / Re: A cash credit in your country?! on: June 21, 2017, 04:15:53 PM
I think in my country cash loans have 10% interest compounded annually and real estate loans have 6.25% interest compounded annually. I think your loan have lower interest rate because it is just about 6.4% interest compounded annually. You cannot complain about that because the bank have to make money and they are taking a risk giving a loan to you.
1019  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Surging Anew on: June 21, 2017, 02:59:12 PM
Finally, we are moving back up again. But the greatest news is that 80% segwit2x consensus. We will finally get rid of this high tx fees and the long tx confirmation time. I am wondering how high this surge will go?
1020  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Currently, Trading is the best waay to increase your bitcoin. on: June 21, 2017, 07:51:25 AM
I think they will answer some newby questions, but for reasonable information they will ask some amout of money. Ahh the Traders Cheesy

it is better to pay a bit of money for education than to lose more doing trades the wrong way. if they ask for a small amount and teach you good stuffs about trading, i think that is money well spent.
