1021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Digital Ocean Monero Pool Mining Guide! CPU only! [MRO] Cryptonight Algo! on: May 17, 2014, 03:32:44 PM
THIS IS A VERY OLD GUIDE. DONT USE IT.

Diff has skyrocketed but fortunately pools have been developed! Pools still are not fully tested and sometimes payout must be sent manually. There are not stats for miners except their hash/s

Pools are seem to work just fine and now with stratum!

If you make a new Digital ocean account try those codes for 10$ bonus. If those doesnt work try to google for DO codes:
DODEPLOY
ALLSSD10
lasmay

You can try the same guide not only for Digital Ocean but also for any linux pc (Ubuntu 14.04 has been tested).

I will update for better miners when and if they come out. This guide uses cpuminer-multi instead of simpleminer

Monero: 47CCXoUb7MpBYXZsjzzaeSZW5Ycv7KbCJ1n6ggumAxYv8bLjk5AcGBAWXvTRG7dKoLMGNWQp8w8kaZ1 ST4hetzCw3dwWonU

1) Please use my referral https://www.digitalocean.com/?refcode=9d68ca19e204 and create a droplet 2CPU 2GB Ram Ubuntu 14.04 64x .It must be 1GB or more. You can create up to 5 droplets. You may choose more CPUs per VM if you want of course. You just have to change the number of threads. User password and IP will be sent immediately to your email.
2) Connect with putty using using ip and password or just write those in the console that exists on DO webpage. 1 putty per droplet! You can always download putty from here http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html  Putty is better cause you can copy paste everything. For linux just ssh...:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install git make automake screen libcurl4-openssl-dev

git clone https://github.com/Lucasjones/cpuminer-multi

cd cpuminer-multi

./autogen.sh

./configure CFLAGS="-O3"

make

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now cpuminer-multi has been compiled and you just have to run it. I run it with screen so that you can close putty/ssh connection and mining can keep up:

Choose a pool. For example http://moneropool.org/ . All you need to type in order to start mining is:

screen -S minerd ./minerd -a cryptonight --url=moneropool.com:5555 --user=yourmoneroaddress --pass=x -t 2

moneropool.com:5555 is the url of the pool you want to mine
yourmoneroaddress is your wallet address.
2 is the numbers of threads you want to run. 2 for 2cpu in that case.

Once it starts press Ctrl A and then D so that you can detach from screen. Now you can safely close putty or console and mining will continue. When you want to check again a simple   screen -r will open the mining screen.

Please correct me if you find any  errors or if you have any other info and please comment here for any questions! This way others can also find solution for the same problem. In case you send a PM i will answer here!

Download links on the website are broken.

Network state shows activity.

Wasn't launch supposed to be 1/2 hour ago? Does that mean someone is mining the coin before it's publicly available?

I think it is in 30mins
1023  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 13 inbred European Bloodlines feeding people insects and mealworms on: May 17, 2014, 01:13:00 PM
Over 1,000 species of insects are known to be eaten in 80% of the world's nations.

So those that dont eat insects are the minority actually ...

Ofc you could always choose not to eat that stuff.

P.S. and those that dont eat them actually eat some unintentionally: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entomophagy#Unintentional_ingestion

Pool owners,

Please PM me your URLs so I can start listing them in the OP. Just as heads up, I will temporarily delist any pool that gets too big (>20% of the network).

So far I have:

http://moneropool.org/
http://extremepool.org/
http://monerominers.com/pool

i think its moneropool.com

Man, I would join this coin if it wouldn't be already that expensive. At the current rate of .0012BTC and max 18.4m coins it has already a market cap of > $9m Sad

why would you calculate market cap with max supply when this will happen in about 8 years from now?
1026  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WIll Darkcoin reach $1000 by the end of 2014? on: May 16, 2014, 09:28:20 PM
no. because cryptonight coins like bytecoin and monero etc. With anonymity that doesnt rely on master nodes.
1027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 16, 2014, 09:19:46 PM
Number of MRO in existence so far?

Around 740000. I multiply number of blocks which is almost 43000 with an avergae block payout which i put 17.2.
Thanks! That means the Monero marketcap is around $300,000 as of now

And Dark Coin's is $25 Million, so a lot of potential here.

And remember that CN coins anonymity doesn't rely on master nodes so it is better than darkcoin. i cant see a reason why monero cant also be in the millions once news of it are spread Smiley Though we still need a nice GUI and pools.

why is this shit so hard to use? it's not much better than a premine if no fucker can use it because the relevant tools and info, are all too scattered and inaccessible.

well you can try and read the OP and monero.cc guides to find out or you can always try better coins like Pandacoin, ComedyGoldcoin, Fuckcoin, Kumacoin, Failcoin and the rest if that suits you better.

P.S. try to maybe ask a question of what you dont understnad here or on IRC...

Hashcoin is not dead.....The coin itself is running fine and I didn't instamine anything. So fuck you GreekBitcoins ^^ Smiley I am right here and I haven't run off anywhere, I am busy with my other project Dreamcoin. Hashcoin is stable enough and running just fine to go out on its own.

Instead of trolling this thread and crying like babies, you could be actually helping the coin and promoting it. Anyways Hashcoin is still running just fine. DGW V3 will be in effect soon.

Please tell me which aspect of your coin we should promoting? The animated logo? xD
1031  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 15, 2014, 05:19:11 PM
Even Darkcoin is CPU mining based, I didn't know that.
Is it like BCN ?

correct me if wrong but basically yes - without 80% premine
I am not aware of any premine with BCN.  Just because it was mined you and didn't know about it doesn't make it a premine lol.

if that was the case I guess Bitcoin was premined because I didn't know about it until 2011.

bitcoin was premined. Satoshi has around 1 million BTC and thats a big problem for bitcoin. At least the rest are spread unlike BCN... oh and btw Satoshi announced bitcoin start. Didnt wait for 2 years to make a thread Smiley
1032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Hashcoin [HASH] - X11 ~ Animated Logo ~ DGW ~ Fast ~ Exchanges! on: May 15, 2014, 03:21:12 PM
I think the dev left this coin. Its dead.

I lost so much on this Sad

Do you blame the dev? I think you were praising him some days ago for no reason.

I am saying it the way it is. He is talented ofcourse, but he has moved on to other coins. There was no reason to make many coins when he had this one. He could dedicate himself completely to this coin when we trusted him. He has stopped giving a fuck anymore

i will tell you something as sincere as i can. The mistake isnt his. Its yours. You invested in a copy clone coin with nothing new at all except an animated logo? Why?!

What did you expect? There are another 100 X11 coins. Another 1000 copy shitcoins. Why would anyone choose this one?

Next time try to invest in something that isnt a complete copy and has at least something innovative. Dev did exackly what he wanted. He created a shit coin. You bought his instamined coins. He got paid and got out... He will do the same in next coins.

Oh and people were screaming that this is a shitcoin Smiley

P.S. I myself mined 4k of this coin the first day it came out just in case. But i would never put money on such a shitty copy coin. I would never even mine it for more than a day and only first days.
1033  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sudanese Muslim woman sentenced to death for Christian conversion on: May 15, 2014, 02:31:41 PM
I don't understand why they are calling it as apostasy. Her mother was Orthodox Christian and that was why she was brought up in that faith. Her father has never visited her, nor offered any financial support. Is this is what the Christians get in return for their tolerance towards the Muslims in Europe and North America? Pathetic.

>>Christian tolerance

Yeah, boolberry sounds like blueberry and bullshit in one. Even HoneyPenny was much more better  Smiley

Maybe its sounds only to a native english speaking man like bullshit.
For me, i like boolberry or boolb.
No money and underground association in the name.

because i guess you dont want it to be associated with money or something underground, right? Cheesy

1038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty for open source ByteCoin/Monero GUI on: May 14, 2014, 07:25:53 PM
Mono doesn't port WPF to other platforms.
http://www.mono-project.com/WPF

The only real solution would be to either use one of the two largest platform independent GUI frameworks -> Qt or GTK+

Hmm, was afraid so. Will have to look into other UI's. As far as I can tell other parts of the .NET framework I used are all available in mono. Maybe I'll make an alternate UI which is compatible with mono (WinForms is supported, could be an option).

You did beat me into it, but then again you are simply capturing the deamon command window output.

I was diving into making a native wallet while chatting with othe all along. I had to find out the hard way that several parts of the cryptonote code that are included aren't usable in c++/clr wrapping. I managed to build it and use a simple c++ gui and call the deamon functions directly. To get this far i did spend 15 hours of researching, learning, error solving, etc...

Next i was learning Qt and managed to build some coin wallets for linux, windows and mac. I was trying to use an existing coin frontend and rewrite the middle code.

Now i feel sad about continueing, i don't want it to be a race.

Still you'r solution does not has my recommendations, thru i even considered it to do it that way. Then i would had had a wallet past week Wink

Don't be sad! See if you can share code and split the bounty. Smiley

This!
1039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 14, 2014, 12:44:40 AM
I'm on Arch too, and while it's in the repos, I shouldn't need it to fix a bug in a program, as the devs should be doing that.

Let me explain how this works. The devs' salary is....are you ready for it?......zero dollars and zero cents (or if you prefer zero moneros).

You are just as eligible to submit fixes to github as anyone else.

Throwing mud at the volunteer developers for not prioritizing what you think should be prioritized (and can easily be worked around with a standard utility) won't win you any style points.

I'm not saying the devs don't deserve a pat on the back for their work thus far. But they released alpha software. It's full of bugs. Not like some small oversight, but HUGE bugs.

Noone ever said this isnt alpha software. Hell bitcoin is still in beta after 5 years... Thats how open source software works....you release it and slowly community makes the software better... This is not a bitcoin clone!
1040  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 13, 2014, 11:24:40 PM
hahaha, there is actually a file called slow-hash.c!

https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/commit/7620d55e6c9d9d625740004c86de17354ccceed2

it's almost as if somebody wanted others to optimize it...

I'm just guessing (the cryptonote developers are mysterious so usually all we can do is guess) it's called slow hash because it is intended to be used a memory-hard proof-of-work, as opposed to other (faster) hashes used for digests.

Oh sure, come up with a totally reasonable explanation for my find  Grin

your find is at least a week old if you check the thread and thats a pretty reasonable explanation...
