1061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: December 05, 2018, 01:15:26 PM
Hey guys. Long time since I posted in this thread.

Is there a place I can go to check the current size of the Ethereum block chain?

Can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks.

I think what you're looking for is this: https://etherscan.io/chart2/chaindatasizefast

Though it says "ChainData Size Growth (FAST Sync)" , I don't know what "FAST SYNC" is nor if "ChainData size" is another word for "Blockchain size".
1062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Welcome to PHANTOM - Decentralized blockchain ẔINCS on: December 05, 2018, 11:22:37 AM

- Sohrab (or Sam) Sharma is the co-founder of Centra

- Read paragraph V: Argument on page 19, and all will become clear.

- If even the tiniest bit of Centra ICO funds (which Sharma apparently lied about in court) were used for the development of Phantom, it can be shut down immediately.

I see.... you have a fair point.
However I can't trust the claim that the IP was traced back and has proven a connection between the two projects.
Maybe I'm willing to show some trust on them since they don't run an ICO.
1063  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Any good Bitcoin games around? on: December 05, 2018, 10:16:56 AM
I have two nice games to recommend, however those are built on Ethereum. I can't imagine how expensive a game would be to support BTC transactions!
This RootStock sidechain seems interesting, but as far I as I was able to research there isn't any game supporting it, it's only a theory so far.

In that case, I think that the RootStock sidechain would serve its purpose well for Bitcoin-based games. LN could be used for decentralized online casinos, while RootStock would be used for other games that would make use of NFTs, and more. I would be surprised to see a game which resembles the CryptoKitties game, right on the Bitcoin blockchain (via the RootStock sidechain, of course). This would enable a whole new functionality for Bitcoin that was never thought possible.

If this becomes viral, then Bitcoin would not only become popular as a store of value, but also as a cryptocurrency for online gaming. In comparison with Ethereum, games would be much more secure and safer on Bitcoin with the use of RootStock, simply because Bitcoin has more hashpower than any other cryptocurrency to date. However, the success of this will greatly depend on how many people would adopt Bitcoin's Layer-Two solutions (LN and RootStock) for gaming.

... <snip> ...

If you want to play something TODAY and you don't mind touching Ethereum, Axie Infinity (a pokemon-like collection and fighting game) and Gods Unchained (a TCG) are some high quality games which might also earn you some money if you collect and trade rare items.
Axie Infinity is planning to support LOOM soon in order to reduce the tx fees.
1064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ARK - Blockchains Interoperability with SmartBridge 🔹 ARK Core v2 Live 🔹 on: December 05, 2018, 09:42:05 AM
Sorry buddy, this is how the wild wild west crypto work. If you haven't learned yet then too bad for you.
There is no development behind litecoin or dogecon and both worth much more than Ark. You're right! If you have any brain cell to think.
Like I said again and again, I see it again and again everyone think they're special, even the copycat and scam ones. Everyone think they're special and have some kind of tech going on, even the ones always lock themselves in the closet and never see the sunlight (oh, you need some kind of brain cell to see the light of this statement).

LTC and DOGE might have a higher market cap, but this doesn't necessarily mean there's value behind that market cap.

Think of it like this:
In a high volatility market like stocks, if someone would try to sell 1% of the total amount of issued stocks then the market cap would fall by roughly 1%.
In most cryptocurrencies, if someone would try to sell 1% of the total amount of coins the price would crash more than 20% because there would be no buyers.

The true value can hardly be measured, market cap is just the closest we can get. We have to use our brains for a more accurate estimation.
1065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ARK - Blockchains Interoperability with SmartBridge 🔹 ARK Core v2 Live 🔹 on: December 05, 2018, 09:12:05 AM
No hype and no pump?  Angry
What is the point of development when no pump. Ark need to use some of it funds to creating hype, that's how every big cryptos doing it. You can't just save that money to pay themselves. If no hype and no pump then you can just distributing that funds now, no need to code anything. If people really have brain they should know what I'm talking about. This is how crypto work.
Anyway, solid network, really awesome and interesting dynamic fees. I can registered a delegate with less than 1 Ark.

There are only 3 cryptos that should be worth anything, that is Bitcoin, Ripple and Ethreium. Others are just worthless nonsense scam craps including tither. Bitcoin being the pioneer and solid, Ripple being solid with the banks then etherium is Erc20 token for ICO networking. If coin or token like Ark not advertising or hype or pump then no one notice them. In crypto world hype or pump is the only form of advertising. (ONLY)

No need to write so much... just say that you're here to make quick bucks and you want someone to pay for an artificial price pump in order for you to sell and go buy the next thing until it pumps.

Thankfully ARK is not going down the road you suggest, they're not here to play with the price and make quick money in a short time.
They're here to build collaborations with companies and other crypto-projects, and in order to achieve that they need to be TRUSTWORTHY.
They also need to offer a high-quality product and this requires a lot of money.

So, it's for the best interest of every serious investor who believes in ARK that the team focuses their time and money in their work instead of pump schemes.
1066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: December 05, 2018, 09:00:49 AM
ETH or BCHabc? Both coins are the best, but BCHabc fell more and cheaper now

Apples or Bananas ? hm... the dilemma!

Go for Ethereum if you plan to use it as a payment for DAPPS. (...though I prefer ARK)
If you want to invest in a speculative coin like BCH-abc, then why would you go in a coin full of troubles? What's better in BCH compared to BTC and XRP?
1067  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Welcome to PHANTOM - Decentralized blockchain ẔINCS on: December 05, 2018, 08:55:16 AM

1) I've never heard of "Sohrab Sharma" and I can't be sure that the document you're linking is genuine... I also don't care to research it at this point.
2) Even if we accept the said document, it makes no connection to PHANTOM. "They traced back the IP of the Medium and Twitter accounts" you said... who are "they" and where's the proof?
3) PHANTOM is not running an ICO, it's not asking for anyone's money. It'll be a service of some sort and the devs will benefit from the fees. Therefore, since I'm not looking to invest my money on their project, I don't care about who's behind the project; if they offer a good product I'll use it, if not I'll pass.
1068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ARK - Blockchains Interoperability with SmartBridge 🔹 ARK Core v2 Live 🔹 on: December 04, 2018, 09:42:21 PM
wow I can even pick an avatar in this new wallet! Completely useless but I like it!! Cheesy

The short "tutorial" the first time you open the wallet is also very informative for the newcomers and it's useful to set you up quickly and easily.
I can imagine how useful your platform will be if you put the same emphasis in details in the more important aspects as well!

The Ledger Nano S is also working fine in v2. In the previous wallet I had to disconnect and connect it again and again in different ports, maybe restarting the PC etc. until it'd show up in the wallet list.

Keep going strong! Cool
1069  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ARK - Blockchains Interoperability with SmartBridge 🔹 ARK Core v2 Live 🔹 on: December 04, 2018, 10:49:12 AM
Aaaaand.... we've FINALLY changed the "ARK on Binance" in the title to "Core v2 Live"!

Now what I want is to hear the next steps from project PHANTOM which is built on ARK and Blockport which is planing to incorporate ARK in some of its functions.
In the meantime, big players play their games with Bitcoin and the altcoins just follow the price disregarding the awesome work that is being done by a few projects like ARK.

With the release of ARK Core v2 we are happy to announce the much awaited ARK Desktop wallet v2. Mobile wallets will be updated to support new protocol soon as well.

Is this a safe with a huge glass or a microwave? Cheesy
Nice image as always.

And... did something happen? Was that slight breeze a fork happening? That was smooooooooth!

Oh and here comes the people who will ask if they'll get free coins from the fork!  Grin

Please help: which exchanges are supporting the Ark hard fork? Do we get then free coins - will we see them in our desktop wallet? If we have Ark client 1.6.1 (just now upgraded from version 1.4), we do not stake coins, we are just once a day, 30 mins online, will we get coins from hard fork? When will we get info that we can upgrade to v2 wallet? I read all on link https://blog.ark.io/the-ark-core-v2-migration-plan-final-preparations-1807a00b062a
is it on 3rd of December, or?
Sorry for my bad english, I just ask for simple explanation. Many thanks in advance to the great community!

7 days later, damn I lost the bet! This took longer than I've been expecting Grin

@Anyone What's happened with this project? What's happened with Maplechange.com? Is there any chance of getting my coins back which was on Maplechange.com ?

Renesis is dead, it was either a scam or a failed project.
I don't know about Maplechange but with such growing competition among the exchanges, I didn't expect a small and amateurish exchange like Maple to stay around for long. I hope all you had there were just RESS coins which aren't worth anything anyway.

As I've stated above, if you're looking for alternatives to an anti-ASIC coin then go to Ravencoin or even better to XDNA which is both ASIC and FPGA resistant and it's also focused on supporting scientists, charity and overall improving the world.

Just so you know, Ravencoin can be mined with FPGAs, though it seems it's not a mainstream solution yet.
1073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: December 03, 2018, 09:56:29 AM
stop writing nonsense, if you are afraid of volatility, than cryptocurrencies are not for you. The ether always falls stronger when bitcoin falls and grows stronger when bitcoin grows. Look at 2017, the capitalization of the two coins was almost equal, fall saved bitcoin, perhaps for this reason it was carried out, bitcoin took advantage of the fact that other coins depend on it, but soon the ether will be the first, and everything will depend on the ether. Use low price to buy!

See how strong the ETH! It broke the long-term trend line of bitcoin, replaced it with another line

Nice graph, it shows the downtrend of Ethereum! Lips sealed
I don't know why did you draw these lines, but they make no sense to me, sorry.

ETH had a low of 9.85% on Dec. 2017, this could have been a support if it had shown a rebound after the last sell-off but no, ETH is keep losing dominance and it's now on 8.90%.

Now compare it to XRP, I notice 2 things: (1) Before the last two rallies, XRP moved first and then ETH followed, both taking some dominance out of BTC and other coins.
The 1st one was on 3/5/2017 (ETH followed on 19/5) and the 2nd one is on 13/12/2017 for XRP (ETH followed on 8/1/2018)!
Lately, XRP is again giving signs of a rally, on 21/9 it spiked up but ETH didn't follow it, this time both ETH and BTC lost some dominance to XRP which is getting closer to the January's high.

Ofcourse trends are breaking often, but if you're wondering what's the current trend, I'd say BTC is going SIDEWAYS, ETH is going DOWN, XRP is going UP.

Disclaimer: I'm not endorsing any coin over the other, I'm simply stating what I'm seeing in the graphs. However the graphs can be understood with more than one way, so feel free to disagree with my view.
1074  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]★CryptoBridge★BCO★🔹Decentralized EXchange 📈RELEASED NOW BETA🔹 on: December 03, 2018, 09:18:14 AM
Why did the price crash so hard?
Are you talking about the cryptocurrencies in general, about BTC or about BridgeCoin (BCO) ?

If you're talking about BTC and the general situation, it's a combination of a lot of things; I'd say the 2 main issues are that (1) cryptocurrencies are relatively a new asset and people can't agree on a fair value and (2) most of the trades are happening between whales and they get to decide the market's direction.

As for BCO, it just follows the trend. It's been hit harder the last weeks though, maybe because there are less ICO happening, which means less new listings in their platform, which means less interest.
If you believe in CryptoBridge, that might be a chance to buy some BCO cheap and lock them in order to get interest. Personally I'm not interested in doing that but I can see the price going up if a bull market starts and new listings start happening every day.

Request to remove XSIOX, exit scam.

Please fill their official form and also include the reason it's a scam, for example the following post which I found (and which is actually YOUR post) should be helpful for the site's admins.

Confirmed scam, promised crex24 for a month and didn't happen (I have proof), then deleted Discord server. This should be a valuable lesson for those too gullible to buy into their scheme: nothing but glamorous promises, no incentive to invest, barely comprehensible English.

This is a merit give away from Question Authority.

I thought it is not allowed to sell merit, or to compete for it? I don't know really. Seems not clear. But due to the fact that I too needed it, I will join these kinds of discussion. Hope I can get some to rank up.

Well, this is not active anymore,
Apologies to all concerned, I will no longer be handing out merit in this thread. Theymos removed me as a merit source because he disagreed with the way I spent my merit. I will leave this thread open and you can continue to post merit requests here if you like; however, I won’t be answering them.

Good luck to all.

CBH

I'm also looking for a thread which gives merit to people who deserve it because at the moment it seems that people hold their sMerits in order to only sell them or give to their other accounts.
In order to get merited nowadays you have to either fight scammers which is very hard and time consuming or just be an old and known member and people will merit your posts for no reason... for example even today people merit Satoshi's posts from 8 years ago: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=3

We have confirmed date already for Ark V2 to be launched on 28th of this month. This is quite surprising announcement but good for those were waiting for this. Phantom's development and everything was solely dependent on this release. Now by the end of next month maximum we can expect distribution of this token but still depend on stability of network.
It wasn't mean to launch on 28th, this is the day when delegates received (already in the past) the Core v2.0 in order to install it and sync the blockchain. The day of launch is Monday,  December 3rd, this is when v1 nodes will shut down and the forging will continue from the v2 nodes.

More details here: https://blog.ark.io/the-ark-core-v2-migration-plan-final-preparations-1807a00b062a

I hope we will hear from PHANTOM soon! Don't role-play your name guys! Grin
