In this crypto world, people arent content with an increase of asset value, they look for asset growth; so they invest fortunes in mining hardware that never achieves ROI, cloudmining that tend to be scams, ponzi's that always collapse, loaning schemes that tend to default, bitcoin securities that are worthless, etc.
In this world, the promise of 10-20% ROI with no running costs is a pretty big lure. It worked. The 1000 coin requirement for Master Nodes has been the bubble generator fueling Dash price. It doesnt take much genius to figure out what will happen when that generator fails.

One thing that should be considered about the masternodes, they are far cheaper to run than a battery do ASICs. Paying 5 dollars a month on a cloud server vs spending 5-10c/KW in the states makes it very attractive. You also have to consider that when masternodes drop off that benefits other masternode operators as they receive more of the reward. Masternodes are not comparable to ASICs. You're conflating apples and orangutangs. Why do we "have to consider" the trivially miniscule effect of masternode drop off, when the vast majority of them are run by Instamine beneficiaries who have a perverse incentive to keep the price pumped? And let's remember we constantly are told (with HUGE GIANT GRAPHICS) to celebrate yet another Masternode number all time high. I find your counterarguments purely theoretical and utterly lacking in practicality. Rational people do not stop to pick up pennies when their movie theater is on fire; they race for the exits as their fight or flight survival instinct kicks in. |

I warned you guys when the price was around .0115. This coin is going to dump like crazy as BTC makes its next run up. Masternodes will be taken down, meaning that Dash will be dumped in increments of 1000. Please take my advice while you can still save most of your money.
You did the right thing to warn the community about the double-edged sword nature of Masternodes w/r/t market supply and demand. Of course the effect of Masternodes cuts boths ways; that's just basic physics (and economics is the physics of money). Masternodes were explicitly designed to artificially lock up a huge percentage of the Dash supply in order to keep the price (which is determined at the margin) nicely pumped, so Evan The Instaminer can keep dumping his free coins at exorbitant profit. A rational person will admit there is a downside to this scheme. Obviously the farther you push a basketball underwater the more potential energy it accrues and the faster it will pop back up, just as the farther a pendulum swings in one direction the farther it must go in the other. how is Monero going to deal with its blockchain which as far as I remember is a couple times heavier than Bitcoin or grows at a faster rate? Also how fast is Monero nowadays compared to Bitcoin? Monero has 2 minute blocks, so getting a first confirmation tends to be 5X quicker than Bitcoin. As for XMR's blockchain bloat, Layer 2 solutions are on the roadmap. Meanwhile we may use what I call "economic pruning" (IE non-trivial minimum tx fees) to keep the blockchain manageable and spam-free. |

Its a shame that monero is rising with bitcoin rising while dash a superior coin is being dumped like that ..we must have at least 20$ per dash price ! We are fighting above 11-12$ for months while monero is flying high without even a normal gui
