11621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Affordable motherboard for GPU mining? on: December 11, 2015, 11:49:34 PM
You want to look at two motherboards and probably those two only:
ASRock H61 Pro BTC and ASRock H81 Pro BTC.
The main difference between them is the CPU socket.

These motherboards can easily handle 6 cards but you'll need PCI-E risers. I'd highly recommend only using powered USB risers and avoiding ribbon risers at all costs.

If you want a motherboard in which you can put cards without risers you're going to have to reach deep into your pocket and even then you'll probably run into thermal throttling with some beefier cards if they are that close together.

Feel free to ask anything about mining here on in pm.

Thank you mate! You helped me choose a decent motherboard to use for GPU mining. There is a little concern that I have and that is once everything is set up, how do I configure the mining process. In this case, how could I configure CGminer to use all 6 GPUs for example?  Grin

Hi All,
Just released a 2.0.1.0 version of the wallet for windows to fix some small bugs and coin fiat value information, you can get it at: https://github.com/casinocoin/casinocoin/releases/tag/2.0.1.0. Just install it over the 2.0.0.0 version and your all fine.
Enjoy!

That is really cool. Could you or somebody else help me set up a full CasinoCoin node? I want to contribute to the network with both mining and use my PC as a full node. Any help please?  Grin
What system, linux or windows? Do you want to build from source or use the binary?

Right now I am using Windows 10 but sometimes I use Lubuntu. I would just use the binary now that I don't know much about building from source.  Grin
I just uploaded the windows daemon casinocoind.exe to github as well.
- create a data directory, ... eg: c:\csc-datadir
- create a casinocoin.conf in the datadir with content
server=1
rpcuser=casinocoinrpc
rpcpassword=[random password]
- start the daemon from the command line with: casinocoind.exe -daemon -datadir=c:\temp\csc-test-datadir

The daemon should start and save all block and wallet data in the c:\csc-datadir
if you want to access the daemon use the command from a new command shell: casinocoind.exe -datadir=c:\temp\csc-test-datadir [command]
for example: casinocoind.exe -datadir=c:\temp\csc-test-datadir getinfo
If you start with datadir you must always add it when sending commands to the daemon as well. Running it as windows service i have no experience with so you have to look for that your self. I did upload an Upstart script for ubuntu to the contrib folder on GitHub a while ago.
Good luck!

Hey thanks for sharing this information. I will surely try this at home on the weekeend. With everything set up properly, I could start contributing to the CSC network right away! If everything goes well, I will share my experiences here.

By the way, how do I know the IP address of the node to share it with other users? Is it the same public ip address from my PC? Thanks  Cheesy
11623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin arcade machine? on: December 11, 2015, 11:35:40 PM
This might sound crazy but do you ever imagined yourself playing with an arcade cabinet, with the ability to pay with Bitcoins instead of a quarter? (0.25 usd)

I have been looking for such machine that would serve that purpose, but I can't seem to find it. It will be real fun to play some of the arcade classics with your BTC. Don't you think?  Cheesy

Im pretty sure i saw an arcade machine that accepts btc. I cant remember if it was homemade or in a shop. I will try and dig it out if i can.

I imagine, the best way to implement an arcade that accepts bitcoin, is to use bespoke tokens which you can put into the machines, but must be bought prior.

This is how the asian arcades work.

Bitcoin can then be used to buy these tokens.

Heres an article on one. Its not the one i saw before but you get the idea.

http://www.cnet.com/uk/news/bitcoin-operated-arcade-machine-is-a-game-changer/

Now that is what I am talking about. Everything that the articles says makes me want to buy one of these. The only thing is that I can't see it for sale. It only says what it does...  Sad

Bitcoin isn't the most suited for this use case because of the long confirmation times. Can you imagine adding a credit and waiting minutes just to start your game.

And what about faster confirmation coins like Litecoin? Are they worth the shot? I would surely become addicted to an arcade machine with such capabilities to pay with crypto.  Grin
11625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Affordable motherboard for GPU mining? on: December 11, 2015, 10:53:33 PM
I'm looking for an affordable motherboard for GPU mining that would have at least the requirements to be compatible with the latest GPUs. I think it is based on the PCI-E 2 or PCI-E  connections, am I right? Sorry, but not sure how to set up the GPUs on the motherboard.
I have been looking into ASRock motherboards (since they are cheaper) but I'm not sure if they are recommended for this tasks. I would like to know your thoughts about this matter. Thanks.  Smiley

11629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LiteDoge - such Community coin | no premine | very fast | much profit on: December 11, 2015, 10:33:44 PM
If I have for example 10mil Litedoge, will I receive after 10 hours the staked coins?

This depends on many factors, like current network weight, current difficulty, your internet connection, the machine you are using to stake them etc. 10 million LDOGE is a relatively small amount to stake right now. I believe you will receive at least one stake within 24h but can't be sure exactly how much.

I have a friend staking 20 million coins right now and receives 3 to 6 stake rewards per day.

I will start buying 30 million LiteDoge, but I need to know an estimate on how long I would get ROI. Let's suppose I run 4 Raspberry Pis, and each would have a balance to stake 7,500,000 LDOGE running 24/7. Would I get to see ROI fast, or would it take longer?  Huh

Fast and longer are relative terms.  Also no one can guarantee ROI in a certain timeframe on any crypto.  The market conditions can change quickly impacting ROI positively or negatively.

To answer your question about staking 30,000,000 on 4 different Raspberry Pi SBCs, I would expect maybe 1 stake a day or fewer on each of them with an initial balance of 7.5M.  It would be better to keep them together in one wallet at 30,000,000 to increase staking chances.  With that amount you would stake several times a day, with my best current estimate being somewhere between 3-10 times a day but probably closer to 3 than 10 on most days.  At the current staking reward of 20,000 that would be anywhere from 60,000 to 200,000 LDOGE received a day from staking.

Great, thanks for the information! The staking reward looks great and I will follow your advice regarding doing so with my Raspberry Pis. Is there any way I could keep up to date with current stake reward? How do I see that on the wallet?  Grin
11630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bank??? on: December 11, 2015, 09:38:50 PM
I think such Bitcoin bank would be Xapo. You can safely store BTC on your Xapo wallet with bank level security. They store BTC on cold storage plus your Bitcoins are insured, so in case something happens you could claim back your BTC.  Grin
11631  Other / MultiBit / How to get into Testnet? on: December 11, 2015, 09:33:52 PM
How do I manage to connect to the testnet, instead of the mainnet? I can see a small checkbox near the word that reads: "On Testnet", but it seems to be unchecked. I tried clicking it, but it doesn't activate? Is there a way to access it? Sorry for asking this, I have never tried it before.
I'm using multibit wallet, but I think the instructions are the same for other clients such as Bitcoin Core, right?  Huh

Here's an current list of 1.0.10.6 nodes running on the default ports:

addnode=104.131.230.130
addnode=104.131.87.192
addnode=104.236.101.122
addnode=104.236.152.29
addnode=104.238.171.172
addnode=108.61.117.108
addnode=167.114.156.87
addnode=208.180.248.203
addnode=[2607:5300:60:2c48::]
addnode=5.196.190.82

Add them to your monetaryunit.conf in the data folder:

Windows - %APPDATA%\MonetaryUnit\
(XP) - C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\MonetaryUnit\monetaryunit.conf
(Vista, 7) - C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\MonetaryUnit\monetaryunit.conf
Linux - ~/.monetaryunit/   /home/username/.monetaryunit/monetaryunit.conf
Mac OSX - ~/Library/Application Support/MonetaryUnit/   /Users/username/Library/Application Support/MonetaryUnit/monetaryunit.conf

I did add the nodes you posted, but even still I'm getting only 8 connections to the MUE network. Am I doing something wrong? Just need faster sync rates.

Here is a screenshot of the MUE Client running on Windows XP within VirtualBox:

I would gladly begin to invest in MUE once all of this is sorted out. Can't wait to start the journey with MUE.

P.S. It does not sync anymore and it is stuck on some blocks...

@111magic

I have a suggestion for Coin Magi and I think it would be great to expand our community and gain the attention of others, to increase price and awareness of XMG.

How about making the Bank of Magi? Such would be an online bank (like Xapo) with bank level security, 2FA, and reserve Magi funds on a cold storage (like a Federal Reserve Bank) It would act as an XMG wallet, but at the same time it would be a bank with the ability to issue Coin Magi debit cards to its users. Take a look at Xapo for a better example of this.

Is it a good idea?  Grin

@ajochems

I have been using the new CasinoCoin wallet for several days now, and it is so far so good. Like the way how CSC is heading to.
There is one question though, how do I run a full CasinoCoin node to support network? Also, once I have set it up, where I see the ip address of the node for other users to connect to using the addnode command?  Smiley

Is there any way to get faster sync rates? The maximum number of connections I get is 8.

Try turning off upnp and opening/forwarding port 29948 to your node. You can also use bootstrap located here.

Thanks for sharing this, but I cannot seem the difference anyhow. I have copied the bootstrap.dat file to the default MUE data directory which in this case is in the Appdata folder. But after opening the client, I still have the same number of remaining blocks left for syncing (1 year and 10 weeks behind) Any suggestions?  Huh

P.S. The upnp feature was disabled.

Please update your wallets ASAP to avoid coin loss
https://github.com/MonetaryUnit/MUE-Src/releases/tag/v1.0.10.6
Thanks

I have updated to the latest wallet, but there is still a problem. I can't seem to get many connections to the MUE network. Syncing is extremely slow and it is noticeable when looking at the Debug Window which says the current number of blocks synced. I don't know if its me, but it takes too long for wallet to become fully synced. Is there any way to get faster sync rates? The maximum number of connections I get is 8.
11638  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LiteDoge - such Community coin | no premine | very fast | much profit on: December 10, 2015, 07:38:30 PM
You know this coin is a really good coin to stake and a good coin to collect and it kind of blows my mind a bit that this coin doesn't trade for more considering the fact that their isn't nearly as many of these coins in existence as some other coins that easily trade for more than 10 sats a coin lol But I am not complaining cause I love to scoop as many more as I can while the prices are nice and cheap like this Cheesy Cheers

It is really weird. Litedoge is stable and solid as a rock, it gives insane staking profits even at the price of 1 satoshi, transactions are lightning fast compared to 99.99% of other coins but its trading volume and price are unthinkably low.

Well, the truth is that many of us do not even think to sell and just make sporadic buys every now and then. Most coins are being staked and they are out of circulation. I believe it will rise in the future but even if it doesn't its still profitable. In example, I am staking since day #1 and I have gained 20x my investment, calculated with the price stuck to 1 Sat!

Yes. LiteDoge is extremely profitable. Last time, I have bought 20 million LDOGE and staked them with my Raspberry Pi. I have made a good amount of profit in days and would continue to buy more and more coins as they are dirt cheap right now.  Cheesy

Cryptsy is having major issues with coins now, DO NOT send GMC to sell there, you can not get BTC out.

I managed to get my GMC off Cryptsy last week, but looks like they ran out of everything today. Withdrawals on Pending whole day, DASH stuck, EMC2 just gets cancelled, only thing working seems to be DOGE at 30% markup to 40 sats.

Yes. I managed to get the exact same issue in Cryptsy but with another alt coin. I guess I'm not the only one experiencing this then. In my opinion, I think that Cryptsy will die real soon.  Roll Eyes
11640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are BanxShares as good as GAW Paycoin? on: December 08, 2015, 09:26:46 PM
If I cannot sell them, what should I do?  Huh
Put it down to experience.
The first lesson is, dont involve yourself with people who publish unachievable returns.
The second lesson is, if a company replies to standard business info requests, and/or requests to justify said unachievable returns, in the manner that Banx does (threats, dismissiveness, not answered, victim mentality, doxing, etc.).......run for the hills.
The third lesson, is to understand the above two lessons.

I have been trying days to sell my Banx but it seems that I can't ever sell them since Banx won't allow me to sell them cheaper than market price  Sad

Any suggestions on how should I get rid of my Banx?  Huh

Start a OTB thread, cross your fingers there's a fool out there and then pray you can move them. Maybe you could sell the entire account with those worthless (as in NO worth whatsoever) to some mentally incapacitated person.

BTW, Lol @DecentralizeEconomics's post.

I somewhat knew there was something fishy going on with Banx. I'll start by making a thread and list my Banx account for sale. The price would be cheaper than Banx's current market price. I hope to get rid of them, otherwise I'll be stuck with it for the rest of my life.  Roll Eyes

After some time, I did manage to get rid of my Banx Shares after a successful payment from a member of this forums. Everything went really smooth and business was made through PM. Now I can finally look for other investment options.  Grin
