1221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: my third zen-gaw thread on cloud ownership on: September 29, 2014, 11:11:50 AM
hi all!

is any1 able to tell me if my hashlet is actually Litecoin-mining or idling?
Can't seem to specify any specific pool (which is fine unless it is not mining nothing instead of LTC) and it shows no BTC balance (though I just activated it 17hrs ago!).
Maybe a balance (and proof of activity) shows only after some days?

TLDR; is this hashlet mining, or is it not?  Huh

thanks for your help!

Yes it is mining with 1 MHps, you will get your first payout after 24h, without maintenance fees for the first day. For the following days a small fee will be deducted from your earnings.

The hashlet that you have can only mine on the "multipool" and cannot be changed. You have to buy a ZEN hashlet, Prime or a Legendary Hashlet if you would like to change pools.
1222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New version 1.1.3 on: September 28, 2014, 12:01:37 PM
Is it just me, or pool situation is catastrophic?
With 8 Tb mining last night I got only 300 burst coins.

Tried many pools, situation is absolutely disaster.

Using R4 miner.

Just wanted to say Yanakitu that I have had the same experience, 14 TB and only a few hundred BURST in payouts. Far off from what you could expect from the online calculators. But I guess that it is just bad luck or variances, hopefully the luck will be better next week or I'm thinking of trying solo instead.
1223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient POC Mining | New version 1.1.2 on: September 26, 2014, 02:10:46 PM
Can someone help me setting up my .conf file in uray's miner?

I have this settings:

 {
    "poolUrl" : "burst-pool.cryptoport.io",
    "submissionMaxDelay" : 30,
    "submissionMaxRetry" : 3,
    "socketTimeout" : 60,
    "maxBufferSizeMB" : 64,
    "plots" :
    [
       "c:\\pocminer_v1\\plots",
       "c:\\plots"
   ]
 }

But when I start the miner it closes instantly.
I'm trying to mine burst, but getting hard time setting things up. Could really use some help.
Thanks

I'm guessing that you mega do not have any plots?
You need to have them before getting started pool mining.

Here is a guide to get you started: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=731923.msg8878839#msg8878839

In an essence: make your plot files, then have a miner use these plot files for generating BURST, either solo mining but maybe better to join a pool. Otherwise, if you have your plots, simply point the miner to them with the location places in the provided .conf file.
1224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: my third zen-gaw thread on cloud ownership on: September 21, 2014, 07:21:55 PM
Please forgive my ignorance, but does the ZenPool auto-switch to the most profitable coin?

Thanks in advance!

Nobody knows, but the payout is higher than any other larger multipool.
1225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: i need help for settings on: September 18, 2014, 01:57:14 PM
The settings look alright as far as I can tell.
Is your gpu overclocked? Try running without overclocking to see that everything seems ok.
You should be able to get the card running even if the settings are not 110% super optimal.

Hardware errors are typically because the card is running with the wrong settings, overheating etc. Normally the intensity has been set to high as other have pointed out.

What happens if you just run the card with:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cgminer --scrypt -o doge-eu.poolerino.com:3333 -u xxxxxx -p xxxx -I 13 ? Still the same errors?

Try to see if you can get your card running without errors, then adding more options like gpu-engine, memclock and thread-concurrency
1226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin Mining for a beginner... Worth investing in? How to calculate? on: September 18, 2014, 11:16:41 AM
....
Getting a 200MH/s Scrypt ASIC seems to be too good to be true...
What am I missing here? What am I not considering/do I not know about?
Is it difficulty that this calc lacks?
I feel like there is a logical flaw in all of this that I do not have the knowledge to know, but there is one present.
I am looking for a ROI. Not necessarily a HUGE one, but nice money on the side.

Thanks! Sorry if this is confusing/makes no sense...
It makes sense to my novice mind.

Hi there swarley,

I believe that you are not factoring in the difficulty changes. 42-coin is at 75-85% profitability of BTC as I am writing this post. All coins change profitability depending on how many people are mining, how fast the blocks are found, prices on exchanges etc. My point is why go for 42-coin when mining BTC directly would be more profitable...

I recently stopped my small rigs at home, 10x R9 290, because I did not find them to be profitable at the moment. I was also fed up with the high electrical bills, noise and heat problems. Basically I got back what I was paying for electricity, so that was a no go for me. Next I looked into cloud mining, and bought some MH from GAW, see sig, and they are well on their way for paying back themselves.

Something to consider is that the hashlets can be sold back, currently for 80% of the price, so if you have a cloud contract that gets you 20% or more of your initial investment, the hashlet can be sold back and you make a profit. I have not done this, instead I have been reinvesting my payouts into more hashing power. The hashlets that I have today make about 1 BTC in roughly 3 weeks.

In terms of difficulty, the diff for scrypt coins is likely to skyrocket when more and more asics get out. The calculations that you saw on coinwarz do not take this into account as far as I know. That said, the payouts that I have been receiving from the zenpool (exclusive for zenhashlets/hashlet primes) have been consistent for the past 3 weeks that I have been using the service, so no deduction due to higher diff.

All in all, if you go with your own asic you will have a great learning experience, but you have to maintain your equipment. When the asic gets older the profits will decline and it will be hard to sell. With a cloudmining contract you can start mining and at least in terms of GAW/Zenpool, you can sell back your hashlet and get back most of your money.

Post your settings and maybe we can see what seems to be the problem.
It's impossible to answer you if you only say that your card isn't working without providing further information.
1228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: i need help for settings on: September 17, 2014, 09:01:35 AM
Do you know someone whith settings for cgminer for this card : http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/product_index.aspx?pid=2131

That's impossible to say if you don't tell us what you intend to mine  Wink
scrypt? not worth it
x11-x13-x15? probably ok
cryptonote? not sure, maybe

If you know what you intend to use the card for, check the forum for settings for a sapphire x9 280x, you'll find tons of parameters for every kind of mining.
1229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: best scrypt for litecoin mining using cgminer on: September 16, 2014, 12:34:01 PM
Mining Litecoin with GPUS is not going to be profitable, as there are scrypt asics out now that will push the diff sky-high. See for yourself using a scrypt profit calculater, for instance: coinwarz.com As it stands now, the electricity will cost more than the profits you are hoping top make.

I would suggest that you look into alternative algorithms like X11, X13, X15. Read up on what crypto currencies you find good and join a mining pool. If you do not want payouts in a special currency other than BTC, then pointing your rig towards a multipool is probably the better option for you.

As an alternative/comparison, check my sig and look at hashlets. You could get about 1.2 MHps with your two cards. 1 MHps of scrypt cloud hashing starts at $15, but I would go for the Zenhashlet that is $21.

If you still want to use your cards for scrypt mining, look here for a few cgminer hints: Litecoin.info

.....
In the hosts file, I cannot add port number.

No, I think that the hosts file does not support that, it just tells Windows where a hostname should resolve to.
If you are running windows, you will have to look into forwarding traffic with your firewall, similar to what netmonk showed in the parent post.
1231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] How to take advantage of private locked monero.rs miner ? on: September 15, 2014, 03:50:59 PM
I cannot find the post, but it was sayd that for windows it was a name hardcoded into the binary (not an ip).

If so modifying the host file on your computer would help. Just the port should remain the same on the new target server.

When you say "host file", is it minerd-eu.exe? How do I modify that?

Check your host file located here:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

Edit the file and put in a hostname and ip address. Ideally this will redirect the traffic to this host specified.
You might need to run notepad as Administrator to make changes to the file.

 is there no fee for prime??

Hey Troy,

I have three primes, and they have a mining/maintenance fee which is deducted every day from the payouts. It should be the same for all hashlets mining on the ZENpool, so 8cents/MH/day.
1234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: help me on: September 11, 2014, 10:12:24 AM
Hey Batman,

That is probably a Very Bad IdeaTM
What you are asking is to use a CPU for mining a scrypt based coin when there are asic miners out there doing the same. You will have very little returns on your investment, so I would advise you to look at a different alternative:

Why not look into a cloud mining solution, for example hashlets at GAWminers (see link in my signature), and use the BTC profits from there to buy your Dogecoin on an exchange. Right now you cannot receive payouts in DOGE, but GAWminers have said that this kind of feature will come later on (payouts are only possible in BTC right now).

If you go this route, let me know if you need more help. If you use my referral link I'll get you a 1.5% discount.

Have you checked the howtos on various multipool sites?
Here's one for example: http://btcd.xpool.ca/get_started
1236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Sapphire R9 290 - I can mine all coins fine, except x11/x11mod on: September 08, 2014, 09:11:18 PM
hey mistercoin,

I have a number of r9 290s mining x11, maybe these settings can get you started:

Code:
"api-allow" : "W:127.0.0.1",
"api-listen" : true,
"api-mcast-port" : "4028",
"api-port" : "4028",
"expiry" : "5",
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin",
"log" : "1",
"queue" : "1",
"scan-time" : "7",
"shares" : "0",
"auto-fan" : true,
"gpu-threads" : "2,2",
"gpu-dyninterval" : "7",
"gpu-engine" : "1000,1000",
"gpu-fan" : "30-85,30-85",
"gpu-platform" : "0",
"gpu-memclock" : "1500,1500",
"gpu-memdiff" : "0,0",
"gpu-powertune" : "20,20",
"gpu-vddc" : "0.000,0.000",
"intensity" : "19,19",
"kernel" : "x11mod,x11mod",
"temp-target" : "70,70",
"temp-overheat" : "85,85",
"temp-cutoff" : "95,95",
"temp-hysteresis" : "3",
"worksize" : "128,128",
"lookup-gap" : "2,2",
"shaders" : "2560,2560",
"thread-concurrency" : "20481,20481",
"xintensity" : "0,0",
"rawintensity" : "0,0",
"failover-switch-delay" : "60",
"no-pool-disable" : true,
"tcp-keepalive" : "30"
}

Make a .conf and try using some of the values above. I think I get around 4.7 MHps per card with this setup. I'm using an older version of sgminer with 14.4 drivers and a few files from 14.6.

Try moving/removing your old *.bin files prior to running with an updated conf. This will generate a new set of files and hopefully they will work better.
1237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How youll LOSE money with the hashlet. (read) on: September 08, 2014, 08:26:50 AM
No, you can say turning's is a scam rather easily.   Look at the 2 customer testimonal's with the exact same statment, capitalization and punctuation on their own testimonal page.   Amazing for a brand new company that had to have a very small customer base that found, purchased and recieved said mining units before anyone in this entire forum knew about them. Wink

Yep saw the same thing. Two people with colored surnames.. Maybe they are related? Smiley
1238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Cloud mining on: September 08, 2014, 07:42:33 AM
Currently better than mining BTC directly, so I would say yes it is profitable.
Check out the Hashlets from GAWminers. They mine different scrypt alts and convert the payout to BTC for you. Soon they are planning to let you decide what crypto-currency you would like for your output. (ex LTC, DOGE etc)
1239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Malicious mining in my computer facility on: September 06, 2014, 09:15:07 PM
@110110101, Thank you for your reply.

1) Isn't what you say against the principle of anonymity that is surrounded with crypto currencies?
fwiw, it is `Monero` I think that was mined.

Anyway, even if the currency was exchanged somewhere for bitcoins or even real money from bitcoins, how does it help to know?
I'm just trying to trace the flow of information here.

One can't tell the real identity of a person behind a wallet address. So as long as money is being transferred around in the form of crypto currencies, it doesn't really help in knowing the real identity of the person.

Only when the person exchanges the crypto currency with real money will his actual identity be revealed. Am I right here?

I'm not really bent on getting the guy who did this. I might just warn and let him off if I find him. I'm more curious about how all this works Smiley

2) I've never really stressed on security. (Good blokes used to use my computers. Smiley )
- They don't use the admin account, but a less privileged one. All this mining happened in the less privileged one itself.
- I think the exe was brought in a device or something and run with no extra privileges. It would be too much of a restriction if executing binaries was restricted right?
- My Microsoft Security Essentials didn't say a thing about the exe.
- About the logs, what exactly did you mean by logs? There was no installation or registry entry made. The exes *were copied and pasted and run* IMO. I doubt if there were fetched via the network. Since the machines aren't turned off, the miners kept running. :/

Hey Newtocrypto,

I was referring to the fact the most cryptocurrencies used to be pseudo-anonymous, BTC included. One cannot link an address to an individual directly, but the Blockchain makes it possible to follow transactions as the coins are moving around. Maybe a long shot, but if you can trace a payment to an exchange, authorities could ask for server logs, check where the accessing IP came from and make the paperwork done for getting an address connected to the IP.

The attacker could spend the coins at an online store where he/she gives their name and address for shipping. Basically many of the older cryptos could possibly be traced back to an individual, sometimes it's feasible, other times not.

The new generation cryptocurrencies are attempting to be anonymous, so the arguments above become irrelevant in this case.

For logs and auditing, if the attacker had hacked an external service running, you would have probably found access logs, error logs and the like showing who accessed and what they were doing. Now I get the picture that some guy put in a usb thumb stick and started his miner. Apparently MSE doesn't block these programs, I believe ZoneAlarm does. Same for Comodo Internet Security. I don't run Norton, McAffe etc so I can't speak about them.

I understand that you are running a Windows computer hall. Maybe look at sandboxing your systems and having a scheduled reboot at night? That way if an attacker puts in a miner, the system is rolled back to a clean state and the attacker may only make use of the resources for less than 24h. This would limit the damage and still leave the boxes OK for all other everyday users doing their work. Perhaps a better way than trying to catch this fellow, is to decrease the incentive for setting up mining software on the boxes.
1240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hashlet Solo or Hashlet Prime? on: September 06, 2014, 07:59:46 PM
Now that that its been announced that Prime will hash at 40GHs SHA I would say Prime is the way to go.  Sha should ROI quicker but its nice to know you have Scrypt as a backup as time goes on.

At current rates it would take about a year to reach ROI from what I'm seeing and reach very very minimal returns after that....unless btc prices skyrocket.

I agree, a quick reference check at https://tradeblock.com/mining/ shows a ROI in around 300 days and a grand profit of $3 in Aug 2015 (100GH/s Hashlet).
I would stick with scrypt hashlets for now. The price per GH/s need to go down before the Hashlet Genesis becomes profitable.
