Since the other darkcoin facebook page is not active since 23/2 i decided to make one.

https://www.facebook.com/darkcoincommunity

If you think i shouldnt make a new one just tell me and i will delete it. I am updating every few days and i will update more since i finish my exams in a few days. Btw here is the google+ account for darkcoin:

https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/113501121429723618585/113501121429723618585/posts

Btw we can promote Darkcoin with facebook. I will put 10-20 dollars for promoting it with facebook myself and if you feel like its good to promote it more then send a few Darkcoins here and i will put everything for promoting with facebook:

  • The difficulty peaked at 1604 this week. We are closer to the world record limit of 1857. At difficulties above that, every block would generate a 6tuple greater than the previous world record!

i didnt know it worked like this! Nice!

I support altcoins that are true, innovative and not premined to the shithouse. You are attempting to change the initial point of the OP, it is noted but not productive and accurate.

How exactly do the "true" devs get paid for their time and work?

Nobody work for free in this world and if you work for free it means that you do charity.

by mining also? Is it so difficult to understand it?
1225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | No Premine | DGW | ASIC Resistant on: March 20, 2014, 08:57:50 PM
I've not posted in this thread before, so congrats to everyone on DarkCoin.

DarkSend is coming along well and this is a great feature for this project and also for using crypto currency more safely in the future.

I was intending to start a 'Tor Enclave' project for Anoncoin, however I'm a fan of CPU coins and some 'default' features of DarkCoin actually make it more suited to network connectivity when using Tor.

So, I have set-up 2 DarkCoin nodes which are running as dual stack i.e. they have connectivity through Tor as well as through the clear (regular) internet.

Here is the darkcoin.conf settings to enable connectivity via the Tor Browser Bundle.

Note that the Tor Browser Bundle uses Socks 5 port 9150 instead of 9050.

Code:
gen=0
socks=5
proxy=127.0.0.1:9150
maxconnections=8
addnode=33rkrxcfoeduijtb.onion
addnode=hgyvmhd7p2ihasu2.onion

I think this method of connection is preferable to using;  -tor=<ip:port>  and  -onlynet=<net>   although thats up to the user.

See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=309716.msg3324942#msg3324942

Re: Official Anoncoin Information, FAQ & Description thread. [Moderated] - What/Howto Tor.

See: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Running_Bitcoin

Connectivity can be vastly improved both for the user and within the Tor network by using the following config. (torrc) with the Tor Browser Bundle. This is a fast / censorship resistant config. which has been slightly adapted to maximize DarkCoin connectivity through Tor.

See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=331077.0

Advanced Tor Browser Bundle config. - Anti-Spying - Anti-ECHELON - Anti-FiveEyes

The main additions are; ExcludeSingleHopRelays 0 , AllowSingleHopCircuits 1 , additional of DarkCoin port 9999 as a LongLivedPort.

Please note that these settings are advised for DarkCoin connectivity, although potentially enforce making single hop connections within Tor when browsing, which can actually lower your anonymity when using Tor for browsing, although making Tor very fast.

These single hop settings ensure connectivity with the hidden_service nodes that are using these settings, hence referred to as a 'Tor enclave'.

See: https://www.torproject.org/docs/tor-manual.html.en

"ExcludeSingleHopRelays 0|1

    This option controls whether circuits built by Tor will include relays with the AllowSingleHopExits flag set to true. If ExcludeSingleHopRelays is set to 0, these relays will be included. Note that these relays might be at higher risk of being seized or observed, so they are not normally included. Also note that relatively few clients turn off this option, so using these relays might make your client stand out. (Default: 1)"

"LongLivedPorts PORTS

    A list of ports for services that tend to have long-running connections (e.g. chat and interactive shells). Circuits for streams that use these ports will contain only high-uptime nodes, to reduce the chance that a node will go down before the stream is finished. Note that the list is also honored for circuits (both client and service side) involving hidden services whose virtual port is in this list. (Default: 21, 22, 706, 1863, 5050, 5190, 5222, 5223, 6523, 6667, 6697, 8300)"

"EnforceDistinctSubnets 0|1

    If 1, Tor will not put two servers whose IP addresses are "too close" on the same circuit. Currently, two addresses are "too close" if they lie in the same /16 range. (Default: 1)"

"AllowSingleHopCircuits 0|1

    When this option is set, the attached Tor controller can use relays that have the AllowSingleHopExits option turned on to build one-hop Tor connections. (Default: 0)"

SERVER ONLY OPTIONS:

"AllowSingleHopExits 0|1

    This option controls whether clients can use this server as a single hop proxy. If set to 1, clients can use this server as an exit even if it is the only hop in the circuit. Note that most clients will refuse to use servers that set this option, since most clients have ExcludeSingleHopRelays set. (Default: 0)"

Which is what makes connectivity faster as the exit nodes supports single hops on port 9999 and also treats the connection as a LongLivedPort.  Cool

Tor hidden services provide much better anonymity for the user of the service than for the hidden service operator.

My thinking is that this adds a very fast layer of 'mix' anonymity for DarkCoin users in addition to using (or when using) DarkSend. The Tor Enclave also reduces the issues with P2P connectivity over the Tor network regarding [scrubbed] connections etc. This is ofc less of an issues of DarkCoin than it is for Tor nodes and the Tor Network as a whole.

Unlike Anoncoin (or other crypto coins) port 9999 is actually allowed in the majority of Tor Entry and Exit servers already within the existing recommended Reduced Exit Policy as:

ExitPolicy accept *:9999      # distinct   Cool

See: https://blog.torproject.org/running-exit-node - Tips for Running an Exit Node with Minimal Harassment.

See: https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/wiki/doc/ReducedExitPolicy - Reduced Exit Policy.

I will continue to work on and update the config. and perhaps start another thread or add it to the existing Torrc thread.

If anyone knows of additional working DarkCoin Tor hidden_service .onion addresses - please send me a PM.

Also, some static IP addresses for existing nodes and pools would be useful for increased connectivity.

Thanks!

Thats nice! I will it try it tomorrow!

P.S. Wanna buy a pizza with DRK? Tongue

One thing i see always in scamcoin threads is people that just created a profile posting good comments about a super new coins. And there are many of them. Sockpuppets. Now when someone tells people to beware of the coin they attack him and obviouly when you have 10 good fake comments and 1 bad this is going to allure noobs.

Now this unfortunately cant be fought just with "education" cause some people do just that. Good commenting with fake accounts on shitty coins...

So an idea:

What about regulating noobs from posting in altcoins? Like you need 1 month old account and/or some activity at least...

With this the way i see it you make the job of sockpuppets difficult and you also make noobs to be more active with bitcoin...

Yeah it sucks that hackers, who could be showing the weaknesses of the current banking system are instead hacking Bitcoin.

I mean talk about short sighted.  You're stopping BTC from increasing in value, which negates your own purposes.

Smart thinking you guys!

Why don't you focus on showing the world how unstable and fragile the current banking system is instead?   Don't you realize your coins will go up in value much faster that way?

Think!

-B-

i am pretty sure they also use or used bitcoins to wash their banking system hack loot so its both ways...

Since ypool has most of the hashing power and this is not good i want to mine in other pool.

But is there any other stable pool? Which? And how much less income do you expect to have in other pool?
income depends on the fee of the pool
why would you expect less income?

http://ric.upcpu.com/ already has 4 blocks

I thought there were some problems with new pools, thats why i asked. If this is stable i will start mining there right now...

suppressive thinking kills innovation

this is an attempt to enforce market controls with force and since it's just a few people with suspect motivations leading it I predict utter failure

this will degenerate into a lot of DDoSing and memeing and not much else

quite the contrary. this will purge the unworthy from the market, and eventually will force evolution of the bitcoin source code(some desperate scammer will finally have a reason to make a coin that is truly unforkable). call it a purge or call it forced evolution. this idea makes sense either way, and the real crypto community, which mostly exists outside of this forum now will all support the movement. resistance of change does not stop the inevitable. #WEARESATOSHI

meh, it's some guy who makes "shitcoins" himself, with an agenda

makes is a verb implying present tense. try again, buddy boy.

already the thread is going down hill...

the very fact muddafudda has put ADT on there, is not a good thing. I have mined and bought some ADT is it almost as old as IFC and older than COL.  Your previous conflicts with zack and adt are know. We can not use this as a personal attack machine. ADT being on there opens up the possibility of having all wave 2 coins added. I don't want to get into a flame war between older coins we need to look to the future, we can not change the past without causing a lot of back lash since you are talking about damaging investment already made.

As people have said we can not use this as a personal gain plan. If it will work it needs to be shown to be a vehicle for providing a safer and fairer alt coin environment for everyone. Also no 1 person can take control this needs to be a democratic community process.

Having said that i would certainly support a group that would apply pressure to new coins to comply with a " fair coin protocol"  we need to think up some criteria that nobody can argue is bad for crypto and make new devs abide by it.

For a start copy and paste could be one of those criteria,
low history devs
premine without ledger and public address greater that 1%

etc etc

i think a lot of people will get on board for this kind of thing.

history of dev has nothing to do. What if satoshi came out now with another name? If we see patterns that someone is creating again and again the same shit okay. But history is not a must.

Guys, you shouldnt not take it personally and attack each other. Obviously many of us created, mined and supported shitcoins for the quick buck. But we know now that this is going too far.

Let see what we can do from now on...

And even if one of us create a new shitcoin we can again kill it...Only thing is to decide what is a shitcoin and what isnt and try to start cleanout.

then those that can resist well they deserve probably for a reason to exist.

Just to be a pedantic dick I don't think this is science, it's math (and math is most definitely not science), which is fine too.  Smiley

i am studding relativity right now. please come and tell me about math being DEFINITELY not science...

If you have a real thought, you can elaborate it and share it with the class. There's lots of explanations for why math is not science all over the intarwebs, you can go look yourself. I'm not hijacking this thread with a philosophical discussion, I just wanted to make a point that I see math being called a science a lot lately, and it isn't. It's nice for you that you are just now studying relativity. If you want to play the "appeal to authority game" to justify an argument, that's a pretty un-mathy thing to do.

I don't really care about the definition much, but what irks me is why math people (and people who suck at math but still post Neil Degrasse Tyson pics and say "science is cool, lolz") get offended about their maths being called "not science", but then don't have a solid and accurate definition of science on hand to justify why math is a science. This is especially funny when math is all about rigorous definitions, so it should be easy for them. It's relation to science is that it is used to describe scientific concepts, like a language.

Why do math people want math to be science, anyway? It isn't. That's not bad, better, or worse. It just is. Why is this a problem? Why is this offensive? If you are a mathematician, you can be proud of it. Math is used for lots of things, including modeling a lot of scientific things. But it isn't, in itself, science.

dude, i am not appealing to authority. I am just saying that physics is nothing else than math especially today...Quantum mechanics is just maths...The science of science is exactly the maths...I seriously believe, in a friendly manner, that you have got it wrong. I would urge you to check the matter a bit more. But anyway...

its funny how people that learned about bitcoin last 3 months keep talking about the price every single day. Why do you expect to get rich in a day, week or month?

Right now this coin is innovative, with probably a brilliant and dedicated dev but has nothing to offer except speculation since YOU CANT BUY ANYTHING WITH IT RIGHT NOW

How do you expect it to gain value without services, goods etc accepting it?

And because people believe in it they just keep it and dont even trade at exchanges. So with such small volume there is no gain of course even at exchanges...

I sold my Darkcoins in order to buy cheaper, which i did, and people here started talking about dumping. Its not dumping to trade the coin! its how trading goes. I gained 10% only with 2 trades that people considered dumping...

You should make services and companies accept it. Send emails. Even with dogecoin you can buy many things. With darkcoin right now you cant. And probably you wont until darksend is open source.

tl;dr: Make services, sites, companies, exchanges accept Darkcoin and it will flourish. Sell stuff for Darkcoins.Make people accept donations in Darkcoin. Trade Darkcoins on exchanges. Or just keep posting about price droping. The coin is good. Except if dev totally fails, which can happen of course, i trully believe it can reach easily 10m marketcap when a few sites starting accepting it as payment.

Vault of satoshi asked about which coin to add. I think we should reply with constructive posts. Not just "add DRK " or "Darkcoin <3" etc
