1222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Credit card gambling fuels gambling addiction on: October 09, 2023, 03:16:56 PM
I don't know how deep the debt on credit card gambling is today until I do my own research and mehn, and it's very sad, many people are in debt because they keep using their credit cards to fund their gambling hunger.
I think digital money has a different discipline approach as compared to fiat because if you were gambling with bands of money and are now left with a few leaves of paper you will know how reckless you were , unlike where your bank allows you to be in the negative but still have money to spend this breeds carelesness..

Imagine someone you know telling you that it will take him 12 years to pay off his debt
Financial jail and it's only in the world of fiat where you get to find this kind of stuff, but then again I wouldn't blame them because credit allocation goes with the capacity to service the loan and the credit score will give all these numbers if a user can pay it back! I guess this is a disadvantage and advantage in accessing finances otherwise with crypto it's either you have or you don't.

Which makes me think that Credit card is far more helping to fuel gambling addiction more than anything else
Let not the few bad apples make access to finance sound like a bad program, there are plenty of undocumented success stories that have come from the use of credit facilities, and anybody gambling to the extent of getting themselves into debt needs help and casinos also owe players this duty to prevent them falling into the addiction phase.
1223  Other / Meta / Re: Does deleting our own posts harms our acccount ? on: October 09, 2023, 12:33:10 PM
Anyhow I want to know that if we delete our posts ourselves, does it have a bad effect on our account and can we still get tagged or something or it is completely normal ?
First off forum users delete messages for different reasons, for example :

  • it could be that the reply itself was off topic and you realised this and took it down
  • someone might ask you to pull it down as it might contain sentive personal information about a forum user
  • fyi others have gone has far as posting private keys in public  and deleting a post is all done to correct these mistakes.

But does deleting a message leave a dent to our name, it's definitely yes and no..just because you deleted without the mods doing it doesn't mean someone else didn't see what was happening and if this tends to be a habit, you would
be surprised that people do notice these things and keeping tabs. Besides why write stuff that won't stick Huh just shows some thought never went into the writing .
1224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My regret for not adopting bitcoin earlier. on: October 09, 2023, 12:13:33 PM
Something Bitcoin has shown us is that many of us aren't ready to take up the risk that comes with unexplored ventures and feel better off watching from a distance not until someone comes out in the open to say this worked for them then we jump on board as the last passenger & when its deemed safe!

Fyi, Rules of investment that nobody talks about,to be successful in whatever we do , do something different from what the next person is doing and be guaranteed to make insane profits.... otherwise doing what everyone is doing just tilts the odds of success against you.

Today again I experienced that Bitcointalk was down for a few minutes.

Now that you have mentioned it...
Didn't get any message like above ,but CloudFlare did show that server went offline on Bitcointalks side in the morning which gave me an idea 💡 that we were experiencing some downtime, hope no DDoS stuff..
1227  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Common mistakes by unskilled traders on: October 08, 2023, 11:04:29 PM
Many newbie and crypto enthusiastic think trading is easy until they lose on the first day, 1 week,1month, 1year and they finally quit.
There are common mistakes they usually makes which are,

_ Not planing there trades: there is a popular saying that he who fail too plan, plan to fail.
Before entering a trade, an entry point and exit point must be spotted if you want to succeed.
We I started trading, I thought I would just eyeball some chart's and guess the direction the markets will be taking and sometimes it worked, but lack of a plan/strategy caught up with me and I had more losses than I could count my wins which opened my mind and approach of the markets buy trading with a strategy.

_ Don't make emotional driven decisions: Emotions like fear and greed can cloud our sense of reasoning and leads to impulsive action, just stay calm and stick to your plan.
Learning to control emotions is one difficult skill to learn especially of you aren't profitable yet.

_ Not managing risk properly: this protect your capital, by using stop loss other, It minimize potential losses.
Failing to manage risk can be associated with greed, alot of us want to get reach quick but this process can only happy with a good risk management system to survive these markets for a long time.

_ Not doing enough research: knowledge is key in trading , knowing the craft is very important, take your time to study the market, analyse chart pattern, and stay updated to news that can impact your trade.

Remember trading requires not just strategy, but discipline
The problem I was getting too many of these YouTube videos that claimed to have the perfect strategy and thought I would take the shortcut and win but unfortunately trading takes a lot of time for you to become a natural at it.
1228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 08, 2023, 10:03:10 PM
About Haaland, do you know?
He has a release clause of 150mil-ish, for the end of the following years.

They are working to remove it or to change it...
This looks like a deal the Arabs can easily hijack with their big money deals though player wouldn't want to head over there has his still enjoying his stardorm, who knows probably they will throw in 300m to secure their guy Roll Eyes.

If real can't get Mbappé then they go for him, mark my words.
I don't see this lad surviving la liga style football because the boys there tackle hard and aren't afraid to get yellow cards either unlike what we see in favourite leagues like the EPL .

Thomas Muller's future at Bayern Munich is now full of question marks, whether he will leave in 2024 or will extend his contract with Bayern Munich. This is because the CEO of Bayern Munich said a few moments ago that Thomas Muller's role is very important for the team and it is likely that he will be retained for another season or two. If we look at his current age, he is 34 years old, so his age is actually no longer possible for him to continue to be the main choice, so even now we can see that he will only be a substitute player. Do you think Thomas Muller will stay and retire as one of Bayern Munich's legends or will he try other challenges outside the Bundesliga such as MLS or the Saudi League?

Source: https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1710986359505125560
Muller has been playing forever and with the little time he still has he should consider going for the big money as the perfect retirement package, & I think the right time to go is now as younger players have already been ushered in ....

Retire as a legend Thomas Muller  Cool

1229  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Exchange that offer depositing bitcoin from segwit address? on: October 08, 2023, 09:50:06 PM
I am looking for CEX actually. Though i do not like them nor hold any funds there but sometimes i need to use them.
Hope you are ready for some KYC  Roll Eyes
Anyway, If this is your preference, I would suggest going for the top names of CeXs that you already mentioned or better yet use CMC exchange rankings >>>> https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges.

Out of curiosity what's the catch here, arbitrage trading or p2p and trying to find a good source for cheaper coins??
1230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [banned mixer] 🦁 Fantasy Premier League Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: October 08, 2023, 05:08:17 PM
Arsenal-City game might not have concluded yet but its safe to  say City forwards have all blanked and most likely this is looking like a goalless game that will reward anybody having defenders or goalies as their assets.
Otherwise Arsenal put up a brave fight  Cool

I went with Maddison, another player I should have picked instead of this useless overrated English headless chicken from a totally disbalanced club.
Am not surprised you went for Maddison as you are among the few FPL mangers I know that root for this lad and keeps getting you some decent points...am considering getting him soon Cool

1231  Economy / Economics / Re: Women are more economical than men. on: October 08, 2023, 07:41:12 AM
Do you agree with this unpopular opinion that women are more economical when it comes to money and are able to manage themselves and their homes better than men do?
I don't agree!!!

I think necessities are being mistaken for being economical!!! Btw where I come from men pretty much have to takecare of their women and family (take it with a pinch of salt) and any money going around the home is budgeted for as a family and as a man you know how much money is needed to cover for all what's needed, utility bills, food, holiday planning, entertainment you name it.

Btw I have seen couples have arguments of the man's money is for everyone while the wife's money is to be used on her which tells you how uneconomical a woman can be but of course others are practical about living within their means.
1232  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw on: October 08, 2023, 04:39:41 AM
Didn't bother checking who El Royale Casino are, but you provided an interesting line which reads "However, in some rare cases, we might ask you to provide a Credit Card Validation form to ensure the safety of your transactions"  this alone tells me this is a fiat casino and it's normal practice when you depositing via bank card as they need to protect themselves from any potential use of stolen credit cards or unauthorised cards, nothing sinister here.

Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw
Every few casinos can say they don't do this especially when you are a winner you will definitely be hit by the so called random check...

1234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [banned mixer] 🦁 Fantasy Premier League Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: October 07, 2023, 04:10:50 PM
Yes, as expected; the moment I transferred Sterling out, he becomes the star performer for Chelsea for that week. 1 goal and 2 assists so far with the possibility of 3 bonus points (he's currently leading the bonus system for the Burnley game).

I had a feeling he would deliver today but that's because I already took him out.
At this point Chelsea and Manchester United are not so far apart from each other when it comes to performance, you get to pick the best players of these teams and your team blanks  terribly and when you decide to move them out of your team they produce big results...
Just take a look, old time favourite Jackson was equally on the scoresheet after several blanks and today came through.
Raheem Sterling should be the best attack minded player for Chelsea but this lad is too moody and if you get him on his bad day, be prepared to blank, congrats team Chelsea  Cool

Playing out similar to how Trippier picked form after I transferred him out weeks ago.
I feel FpL that played the worldcup fantasy football tend to pick players that were performers in this competition and trippier isone such player.
1235  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is regulation of cryptocurrency exchanges essential for mass adoption? on: October 07, 2023, 03:23:52 PM
Let's all it what it is, we live in a world where most services are kind of regulated to provide security...perfect example is PayPal, eBay, backmarket etc , these companies guarantee protection to its users in case of a hack, or bad business transaction which has helped in growing it's userbase.
If same concept is applied to crypto I think it will bring in more users knowing very well that their assets are protected, less scams in the industry as KYC is used,a and  most importantly will  bring about investor confidencea and spill over to demand. So for the markets to see exponential growth regulation is the missing piece of the puzzle.

At some point, the central platform will grow to process millions of dollars, and so it must have a license, otherwise you will be considered to be laundering money.
Which is the downside of being unregulated, anything bad that comes with the industry is pinned on you.
1236  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie Don't be afraid of buying Bitcoin on: October 07, 2023, 02:00:34 PM
The purchasing power of 1Us dollar vs 1Bitcoin clearly shows that one is going to zero, while the other is not.
I really don't know if we shall see this day as much as we want it to happen Roll Eyes ,and I understand the de-dollarization could be coming from pressure of BRICS,inflation and printing of money which rides on debt but I think the central bank will always find ways to rescue the currency to avoid going to zero.

Let me show you why wealthy men like changpeng Zhao(cz), Brian Armstrong, Jed mc Caleb etc can hold billions in Bitcoin without being afraid.
These are crypto linked people and they will support what feeds them and where they find their financial security because had they moved their money to fiat it will be easy for the authorities to freeze his money if found guilty for something.

you wouldn't like to hear this, but the one buying assets now are the wealthy, they will likely continue the trend of the rich getting richer
Before the system breaks these guys could be about spreading their risk and someone paid to help protect their wealth could have suggested crypto as the best option at the moment.

1238  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How long to learn trading? on: October 07, 2023, 08:23:52 AM
Personally I wouldn't put a timeframe because we learn things differently, pick on concepts differently and partly if the interest in trading has been there it's easy to catch on unlike for someone that has never heard of trading and has to deal the fear of it.
But if we are to put a timeframe, 3months to a year should give you enough knowledge to read chart's, interpret them and excited trades.

I spoke to a tutor who teaches trading, and he said for his lectures, he teaches for an extended period of nine months for anyone who wants to learn trading from him.
His time frame is fair enough because he has to teach and students has to prove to him that they have understood whatever was been mentored to them.

Please I like to read the personal experience of some traders here, how long did it take you to learn to trade profitably,
I would say am still learning as there is always something new to learn
Quote
and what was the hardest thing to learn?
the hardest  is mastering emotional control and learning to sit on your hands to to enter trades because you think a nice setup as presented itself.

1240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: They know the truth but they don't want to accept it, publicly on: October 07, 2023, 07:42:15 AM
Take it or leave it, some part of me still want to make free money from gambling, even when I don't gamble every day, and while I am a very cautious gambler.
I don't think you can call it "free money" when there is a risk of you losing the initial capital you started with . Otherwise proceed with caution!!

Some people are trying to hide behind the cotton, stating that they are gambling for the fun of it, I will like to ask them this question if I can get them to answer.
Agreed, there is no fun in losing money but games like poker do offer that kind of fun especially if played in real life

Money is still the real reasons why we gamble, been addicted or not, mutual greed or not, all gambling is done to make more money or get some form of reward in the end.
Plain simple!!! The motive of gambling has always been to make money💰 anybody not speaking in these lines would be lying.
