1261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoBiz Magazine Cover! | Cryptogenic Bullion | CGB on: August 26, 2014, 01:41:40 PM
I noticed earlier that multipool.us removed mining options for CGB. This should mean less mining and instant-dumping of CGB, not sure how much mining they did, but with one very large pool leaving CGB, the diff should go down and make it easier for everyone else to mine CGB. Let's hope for less dumping, leading to a climb in CGB price.
1262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 50 mh/s Hashlet statistics(8 days) on: August 25, 2014, 04:08:17 PM
Interesting to see that the profit has not been a decrease, but rather steady around 0.025 BTC/day.
I've got 52 MH myself, so I hope that the trend continues. Most likely though, with the Scrypt asics (KnC) coming out soon, the difficulty will increase and payouts decrease.

...

That's funny. I thought we were at 10-14 postition on 2000-4000. I have lost to much to sell now. I only keep CGB because of this community.

Know the feeling Wink
I've lost around 90-95% of my initial investment, so the only thing to do now is hold and work hard to bring the prices back up again.

"...

"

Hey FiniteRed, I must have missed this note, what is the Vault 2.0 you mentioned? The updated wallet with its new feature set?

Too bad IMZ felt that he needed to leave the discussion, but maybe the lack of a working internet put an extra strain on him? Anyway, he's always welcome back to our discussions and improvement suggestions for CGB.

  • Quark (6MO)
  • BlackCoin (1WK)

Please add to the list!

Are you looking for alts that do not have a PoW phase any more?
The newer generation PoW / PoS hybrids generally have a very short PoW state and then jump to PoS only with a high interest rate. Please see Mintcoin for instance; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=450381.0

Check various multipool site stats for altcoins which are supported but not mineable anymore. This could perhaps give many suggestions of PoW / PoS hybrids that are now PoS only. I cannot check more right now, but I'm sure that there must have been a couple dozen alts with an "instamining phase" PoW of hours - days -weeks that are now PoS only. Such alts may have a official multipool mining other altcoins and reinvesting the profits to support there coin on the crypto markets.

Great news keeps coming the CGB way Wink
Big welcome to Raizor and I'll be looking forward for the coming wallet improvements!

Not sure if anyone noticed, but I'm giving the Darkcoin wallet a major overhaul and implementing a much more clean, modernized design with the help of Minotaur, raze and LittleFinger. Here's a screenshot of a mock-up, demonstrating the general idea of what the new wallet will look like:

(NOTE: This is just a mock-up, not the final design!)

A lot of major improvements and big things in the works for Darkcoin: the most under-valued crypto-currency on earth!  Wink

The official thread for the UI overhaul can be seen here at DarkcoinTalk.

Regards,

The DRK Lord

Hey all, just wanted to say that the wallet looks really great. Nice and clean, a great UI-improvement! Looking forward to the final release!

Really nice work, and an interesting article about CGB!
Nice work team!, and I hope that this marks the start for the renewed investors interest in our favorite bullion Smiley

Looking forward to the ongoing marketing campaign!

Great news and it's wonderful to see the positive image presented for CGB!
Going to read the article later, so I hope that I have not spoken too early  Wink
1270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: THE INVESTOR'S CRYPTO | Cryptogenic Bullion | CGB on: June 18, 2014, 09:52:17 AM
As a small time miner, and a long time CGB holder, I recently came to a personal belief as to why the value of older (!) crypto currencies are so low, CGB included.

While we have an initial large payout to get miners interested and secure the currency, the buzz and rewards function as incentive to keep the currency alive. Granted, many alts have been launched and died within a week for various different reasons; secret premining, Pump&Dump, non-innovative me-too coin™ etc

As the block reward is higher, the miners will show a larger incentive to mine the coin. This interest decreases with the block rewards and the miners will jump on the next new coin™ With these reduced block rewards, practically every altcoin from one year ago has had a great decline in value, or am I mistaken? It appears to be the larger block rewards that keep the coin going, paying the miners to stay with the coin.

Now the mining phase is practically ended for CGB and we are hoping that investors will take an interest in CGB as a stable and secure investment. The question is why should they do so? If I as an investor would place money in one or more crypto currencies, would I not choose a currency with a better track record, or something that has features that Bitcoin seems to lack? One of the main features I liked about CGB was its proof of stake. The PoS part of CGB is not a unique feature anymore in the cryptocoin scene, and there are even many 100% PoS coins out there now.

I guess where I’m going with this is the fact that the PoS alone does not seem to attract new investors as we all are hoping for. The price is now lower than what it was just after launch, so there is all the incentive for someone to scope up a big bag of CGB for cheaps. The price decline for the past 6 months has not proven to be a stable wealth builder like a traditional interest fund or the likes.

I am not planning to sell off my investment; I still believe and hope that CGB will show its strengths, but at this point I would not put my money in CGB as a new investment. Even though that there are many new exciting ideas going ahead in our community, wouldn't any cautious investor just look at the price development for the past while and place their money elsewhere?

Perhaps we should look back at what gave CGB its initial boost among miners and the community, why was the perceived value of CGB so much higher then, compared to its stable phase now? Are changes needed? Does CGB need the mining help to bring back its values from the 5 mBTC days?

If we are not planning on any changes on CGB itself, than we should be open to ideas like merge mining, altpool investing in CGB and use the strengths within the mining community to help us build a stronger CGB!
1271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Countdown to CGB's 1st birthday! Only 27 days.... on: June 01, 2014, 02:02:26 PM
Is it a virtual object?
1272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: THE INVESTOR'S CRYPTO | Cryptogenic Bullion | CGB on: May 31, 2014, 09:10:23 PM
Soon there will be no buy orders Embarrassed Such f...g great coin, that everyone wants to sell them.

I regret I invest in cgb.
All these marketing stuff is nothing. We need big buyers. Buy walls on at least 0.0007. If there will be bigger trading volume we would be added to mintpal and that so ppl would be hear about CGB.

Know the feeling. I bought in to CGB when the prices where around 0.004x, roughly 10x higher than what they are currently. But I chose to keep my CGB and wait and see what it brings in the future. Looking back and seeing that an initial $10K investment has decreased to 10% is depressing, but those are the rules in the crypto game  Tongue

I would like to see for an increase in value for miners, not just relying on future investors to provide a growth of value for CGB. The merged mining mentioned above sounds like a step in the right direction. We need to provide incentives to others besides investors to keep up the demand for CGB. Using alt-pools to create a buy support could provide an artificial demand, but I know that this was not in favor of the team.

In my humble opinion, I would rather see CGB traded on a few exchanges to keep the trading volume higher per exchange. As it stands today, we have one or several bots doing low volume exchanges and can keep the price to what the owner would like it to be. Granted, the same could occur on an exchange where the volume is larger, but at least it would cost a malicious bot more CGB/BTC to manipulate the prices.

Looking forward to the new wallet and the new features that it brings to the game. Keep up your good efforts dev-team, CGB is indeed a special alt and we're glad to have you guys pushing CGB in the right directions!
1273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][X11] X11 (Darkcoin etc) miner (based on sph-sgminer) on: May 26, 2014, 08:48:17 AM
...
Ok. Added zlib1.dll. https://www.dropbox.com/s/59lvecndm866bzz/sph-sgminer_x11mod_b2.zip
About HW. Works fine on my 280X. Maybe something wrong in conf, maybe I compile it wrong.
3.4 Mh/s with conf:
Code:
"intensity" : "20",
"vector" : "1",
"worksize" : "256",
"kernel" : "x11mod",
"thread-concurrency" : "8192",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"gpu-threads" : "2"
I'm using amd app sdk 2.9
Thanks for testing.

Ran this as a drop-in replacement for the 2% miner on a small rig with 2x 290 Trix. Same settings and config (charged kernel from darkcoin to x11mod), just replaced the miner binary and achieved the same hashrates. So far all working great and I'll keep an eye open for possible problems. Oh, and achieved hashrates are about 3.5-3.6 MHs per card.
1274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][X11] X11/Darkcoin Gpu Miner 40% faster - FIXED: temps now show on windows on: May 23, 2014, 09:08:19 PM
If you run this on a dedicated rig used solely for mining and nothing else, is there anyway a virus can get onto your home router and try to get data from a home computer?

Or would a firewall have protection from that?

if the there is a rootkit in this miner he can control your computer, via remote control

I mean the computer that is mining currently, all it does is mine. I never use it for anything else. It just uses wifi to connect to the home router.

If you are running some code on a mining rig, computer or whatever, an attacker could potentially use this as a vector to attack the rest of your network. Especially since most people trust everything else that is on their home network/wifi. So, running untrusted binaries is asking for trouble. That said, I have run this miner and I have not seen anything suspicious so far.

For extra security, you could put it on it's own subnet without access to the rest of your network. That could reduce the risk of attacking your network, but an attacker could use your mining computer for sending spam, attacking others or whatever they like. I mean, with the install of $RANDOM_BINARY you could end up with anything...
1275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: THE INVESTOR'S CRYPTO | Cryptogenic Bullion | CGB on: May 22, 2014, 09:06:44 AM
Well you know tristartek, CGB is soon to be one year old. Unlike many other crypto currencies CGB was always intended to be a long term investment rather than a quick pump-n-dump scheme like we see every week on these forums.

So, even though the mining phase is soon to end being the major influence for CGB, the PoS part is increasingly taking over. CGB is rapidly becoming more of a long term PoS wealth builder.

Unfortunately the price has been volatile and on a decline as of lately, but with new features and market exposure coming, CGB has a good potential of increasing its value. Low exchange volume is not necessary a sign of a coin dying, but rather that many holders are not interested in selling of their holdings for the offered prices.
1276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty - Help w/ 5 R9 290 rig on: May 16, 2014, 10:31:02 AM
Hey Cris,

Saw your posts and just wanted to assist a bit.
I have 4x R9 290 running on a MSI board, and I planned to add another 2 cards soon.

It is of course important to have both power connectors attached to the gpus, as you will be running them on high load, so they need the wattage from your PSU.

As for powered risers, I only run with powered risers as this should lower the effect passing through the mobo pci slots. You should keep an eye out if you are running 5 cards, especially if your 1-2 psus (?) are on the edge of what they can handle.

For Windows vs Linux you could use whatever you are more comfortable with. I am currently running on win7 though running on BAMT or PIMP shouldn't be a big problem if you are a little computer savvy. Otherwise ask a friend who knows a little linux about setting up your config files.

If you are running on windows, my no.1 advise is to keep CCC (comand&control center) that comes with the AMD drivers away from your system. They made my rig very unstable and it froze frequently. After uninstalling this trashware everything operated smooth again.

If nothing seems to be working besides your 2 cards, try testing the cards 2 and 2 to see that they are all working ok. After that, swap the cables and see if they too are ok. Finally connect all working cards, with or without powered riser cables, ensure that all power cables are connected to each gpu, and install the latest amd drivers. If the system sees your cards you should be good to go and start hashing away.

Hope these advises can assist you in the trouble shooting.

Payouts where proceeded a few days ago, and everything worked out as is should for my part. Sadly the pool has been offline today and both the site and the pool are down as this post. I really liked the concept of mining and trading for NXT. I hope to see hashrate come back online again soon.
