141  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Nano 3 [unofficial thread] on: June 14, 2024, 07:37:36 AM
An email just went out from indiegogo saying the next batch of orders are going out next week. I believe mine will be included in this batch so I’m looking forward to checking out the Nano 3. I have high expectations as there are not too many available options for users looking to mine with 110v electricity these days.
142  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where is the bullrun??? on: June 14, 2024, 06:08:47 AM
The cycle is pretty clear and obvious on when it rises. It takes a year after the halving. This has always been the case. It’s crazy people thought it would be different this time and we would jump suddenly to new highs now that Wall Street is watching… Exhaust the speculators, squeeze the shorts, eat supply… 1 year to riches..
143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is China going to shift from Gold to crypto as ICBC considers ETH a digital oil? on: June 14, 2024, 06:06:45 AM
They’re just now pivoting away from usd to gold. I think it’ll be a while before they go hard on crypto. Even if they did, I would expect that they would try to hide it, especially at first. Maybe one day we’ll see adoption from major countries, but so far El Salvador is leading the charge. Maybe another 10 years we’ll see it covered by China and the US.
144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins dominance over Real Estate in terms of profitability on: June 14, 2024, 03:53:16 AM
I don’t think you can single real estate out vs Bitcoin like this in an honest debate. Bitcoin’s growth has made everything look terrible in relation. I think while it is important to have exposure to Bitcoin to benefit from the birth of a new asset class, you should also be diversified and own things like real estate and stocks.
145  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 14, 2024, 03:49:07 AM
^ I just saw the news. I don’t know if it’s believable or not, but at least we have an official statement about Conor’s participation. As soon as I saw him giving those interviews for Roadhouse I knew his career was over. It seems like some people on his team have finally talked him into saving his legacy by calling it quits. We’ll see though. Maybe it is just an injury.
146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 14, 2024, 12:52:20 AM
Apparently Chimaev got injured and they're going to have to replace him with Ikram Aliskerov, it's a miracle Volka wasn't chosen haha.

And about Chimaev, the only thing they said, from what I saw, was that he's violently ill.

That’s a bummer. Chimaev is my favorite fighter to watch right now. He’s always putting a beating on people. I also already have a bet placed on this fight so it’s a bummer to think that will be cancelled. Maybe there’s a chance he’ll still fight? I guess we’ll have to wait for the next one…
147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Has Never Been A Scam. on: June 14, 2024, 12:46:12 AM
When you’re dealing with people who aren’t used to traditional investing, you never know what they’ll do. In this community, the definition of a scam to some is whether or not something outperforms Bitcoin, thus everything is labeled a scam to them. I think even the most popular investment in the world (S&P500) would be considered a scam if someone here offered it.
148  Other / Meta / Re: Why are mod not locking long threads on the gambling board discussion anymore on: June 13, 2024, 09:48:24 PM
Why would you want to lock a thread that people are enjoying participating in? Would you rather for example that everyone posting their bets in the NBA gambling thread instead make a new thread every day with their bets? Or each person having their own gambling thread they restart after 5 pages? That would be lunacy.
149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm new to the world of Bitcoin - a little late :( on: June 13, 2024, 09:46:06 PM
There are plenty of people who have thought they were too late to the party. There’s a screenshot of a tween from 2010 where someone is complaining that they sold their Bitcoin at $0.07 and now they regret it because BTC is at $0.30 and it’s too late to get in now. A tale as old as time. If you believe in it, get some. That’s my advice.
150  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The real winning of gambling is withdrawals on: June 13, 2024, 09:44:28 PM
I can understand people having this take. You could say the same thing about an investment portfolio. Have you really made any profit if you haven’t spent any of the money? That’s sort of a deep question that has me wanting to cash out some stocks, but I think for a gambler you could also say they cover their bankroll for future entertainment purposes.
151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A man is unable to collect his price cos he forget where he bought the ticket. on: June 13, 2024, 09:42:05 PM
I don’t buy lottery tickets but I imagine if I did I would be able to tell you where I bought them. At the very least I’d be able to give you a list of potential shops where I have purchased them in the past. The fact they even asked leads me to believe that someone likely complained about a theft of their ticket and this is the result.
152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: June 13, 2024, 09:39:06 PM
Perhaps too soon, but I think Jerry West would approve.. People saying that Jerry West chose to die rather than see the Boston Celtics win another title.  Cheesy

Boston deserves it though. Tatum and Brown has been a long running experiment and I’m glad to see them get one. I think Minnesota is next up though.
153  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Crypto Collectibles Pyramid - Which sits at the top? on: June 13, 2024, 09:36:52 PM
Casascius coins have to be at the top. They basically were the coins that kicked off an entire collectibles market. The 1,000 BTC loaded Casascius coin has to be the holy grail of Bitcoin collectibles. Not counting loaded value though, I’d say that this piece has a special place in my collection.

154  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is June a Downturn for the Crypto Market? on: June 13, 2024, 04:16:57 AM
Hedge funds are just building short positions on futures. It’s an understandable way to make income. At some point it will become a positive instead of downward pressure on the market. I think the downside pressure will likely continue through October, but I expect November to be the kickoff to the next bubble.
155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: June 13, 2024, 03:25:12 AM
Dallas just couldn’t catch a break. I think everyone has to accept that Boston’s time has come. Taytum and Brown are getting their first chip. They really owe Luka because without Dallas beating Minnesota I don’t think we’d be in the position we’re in. As for the future for Dallas, I think this was their shot and they don’t make another NBA Finals for a long time.
156  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: June 12, 2024, 10:55:26 PM
Nothing too special about today’s push-ups. Just getting the numbers in to keep the streak alive. It seems like I’m not seeing much in the way of transformation anymore, but I’m sure I’m still strengthening. I just think the easy gains have been had. Still, I’m exploring new complementary exercises to help me continue improving.

Game 3 of the final series will start in 2 hours.
I hope Dallas wins this game, I still want them to win.
Kyrie needs to show himself now.

Kristaps Porzingis in Boston is uncertain to play tonight. If he doesn't, he could be a major loss for Boston.

Doncic in Dallas is still injured but continues to play.

Let's see how tonight turns out.

Kristaps Porzingis has been ruled out officially for tonight. If Dallas can’t pull out a win here, it’s over. Even if they do win it is still an uphill battle, but tonight everything seems to be aligned for them to get a win. Kyrie needs to have a good game and redeem himself a little bit and I think Kristaps being out gives Doncic a slight advantage offensively. We’ll see…
158  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is getting addicted to gambling right or wrong? on: June 12, 2024, 08:35:19 PM
Getting addicted to anything is wrong. Even making money can consume your life and lead you to unhappiness. I don’t see any other opinion as possibly being valid. Just live your live and try to be as diversified as you can with everything. Your investments, food, friends… There is truth to the saying that diversity is strength.
159  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Rumours that russia will use nuclear but where ? on: June 12, 2024, 08:10:38 PM
Putin won't launch a nuclear weapon weapon unless he is prepared to engage in a nuclear war.

Putin won't start a nuclear war unless he is confident he would emerge victorious.

Right now, he would not win.

(Of course this could all change if Donald Trump is elected).

you sound so certain about what Putin can do or can't do! For all I know about Putin, dude could get desperate when he wants to get things done and we can't be certain of what's going on in his mind or the extent to which he would want to follow up on this war. The only reason why we can assume that he wouldn't want to make use of his nuclear weapon is the fact that the use of nuclear weapon is almost out of consideration with choosing war arsenal for a battle. Any nation that goes ahead to make use of nuclear weapon to settle a way deserves to be wiped off the face of the earth.

People are so used to thinking America is a superpower they don’t realize that Russia has the technology to wipe us off the map right now if they wanted. They’re far ahead in supersonic weaponry and our defenses would be useless. We need to stop thinking we can police the world. We can’t. We need a negotiator to solve these types of issues. I know one who would be perfect for the job…
160  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 12, 2024, 08:08:31 PM
The donald confirms and pushes strongly for btc mining in the usa...

https://watcher.guru/news/donald-trump-touts-bitcoin-mining-as-final-defence-against-cbdc

This is a cool talking point and I’m glad that he’s making waves so Bitcoiners can take notice, but his statement sort of showed that he has no idea what we want. We don’t want America to take over and control Bitcoin, we just want to be able to participate fairly with everyone else. We want to fix the money, not control it (except for Blockstream, they want control).
