1061  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does the tension make you take risk that are sometimes worth it? on: January 05, 2024, 09:03:13 PM
I can't relate to gambling under pressure or being tense while gambling.  I do it for fun and entertainment.  If it stops being fun and entertaining then I find something else to do.  It's that simple.  Considering I'm not the most easily entertained individual, my gambling forays usually don't last too long.  If I were becoming tense or frustrated, it would definitely end immediately.  If anyone can relate to OP saying things are tense and sometimes they have to keep going and take risks, gambling probably isn't for you.  Maybe try a form of entertainment where you won't lose all your money with bad decisions like video games.
1062  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 05, 2024, 09:01:05 PM
Don't forget to vote for All-Star today. Votes count 3x.

I quickly picked Dončić, SGA, Jokić, Durant and Şengün for the West and Cunningham, Haliburton, Embiid, Tatum and Randle for the East.

I know some of them have very low chance but they all deserve it.

I should probably do this today...  A bit embarrassing that Booker isn't even going to make the all star team after supposedly being the guy in the NBA to start this season.  I think it's his poor attitude that turns fans off to him, not so much his play as he's had some great moments.  If he were a 3 time NBA champion I might even have some respect for his attitude.  As it is though, Booker still needs to prove himself and nothing makes that more clear than the current all star voting situation.  You've got some interesting picks there.  Mine will probably be quite different and will definitely include Giannis.
1063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Just inherited 100 RX 470 8GB cards and may have access to free electricity. on: January 05, 2024, 08:57:29 PM
Currently 65 dollars a day in profit. God I hope a Kawpow ASIC is never released.

okay got to get the 470s back on line.  nice
I don’t know where the profit of 65 dollars from 105 old video cards comes from. And these video cards consume 15 kilowatts of electricity per hour.
https://hashrate.no/gpus/470
If I mine, then with my electricity price the average profit per day will be 30-35 dollars, but this can change any day. Don’t forget the time when mining on these video cards was unprofitable.

Free electricity goes a long way when it comes to profit on graphics card mining. I assume that’s why he’s making a profit with old cards where others would be lucky to break even. Pretty amazing to inherit 100 graphics cards regardless of the reason. I’m glad to see that OP has found a way to keep them online and working.
With free electricity it is impossible to mine at a loss Smiley
But in my experience, in such cases there are other risks or the miner must pay money to another person for using this resource. If I had such a resource, I would buy more modern video cards or even ASICs in order to use these 15 Kilowatts with maximum benefit.

You've actually sort of explained how you can lose money with free electricity.  Expanding your mining footprint with your own money means you now have an investment to recoup.  If any of that hardware goes bad, you're losing money.  If the hardware takes a lot of air conditioning to keep functioning, you've now got more equipment to invest in.  If a thief comes or a fire breaks out...  More losses.  Don't kid yourself, there's always ways to lose money and if you're greedy, you'll find them.  If I were OP I would be selling those things on eBay before they're worthless and mining with them in the meantime to take advantage of free heat if possible.  That's how you don't lose money in this scenario.
1064  Economy / Speculation / Re: WSB Style Best Bitcoin Related Stock Picks for 2024 on: January 05, 2024, 08:54:58 PM
I agree with OGNasty though it doesn't kick in any actual income until you sell, unless you trust a Defi Yield farm liquidity pool or a Centralized exchange to hold your crypto and give you a small % of yield to invest in which you then need to cash to fiat.

The problem with this is that every single person or entity that has offered a BTC return (except for NastyFans which is the exception that proves the rule) has ended up going bankrupt, being hacked, or just straight up absconding with everyone's money.  This is why I say that Binance is in big trouble to be offering the rates that they're offering in order to get more investors to send them capital.  Yield farms when it comes to crypto don't exist because they are an income source, they exist to protect their income source of irresponsible trading, which requires more capital from users so they raise rates to attract more customers to can gamble with your funds...
1065  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: January 05, 2024, 08:47:37 PM
The women on the side seems also impresed.  Grin

How about the thicknes of the metal?

I tried to get pictures without anyone else in them, but it was difficult.  After about 10 minutes there were probably 30 people walking around touching it and taking pictures.  Surprisingly, most people didn't even know what it was or that Tesla was building a truck.  They just saw something awesome driving by and stopped to check it out.

I was honestly surprised by how thin the metal is.  I get that they have done a lot of work to make it extremely strong, but I expected it to be probably 3x as thick.  They must be working some serious magic for those panels to take the place of a frame.

Would you say it was the first cybertruck bought with Bitcoin?

I have been watching a lot of videos and all the reviews about that truck, and it's amazing how fast, strong and powerful it is, so, enjoy it. But what i don't understand at all is the price gap that you paid. Why did you pay more than 6 BTC?, i know the Bitcoin prize has been on a roller coaster, but 6.5btc is a crazy amount compared to the current prize order.

Quote
Price of my Cybertruck when ordered: 6.59229 BTC
Current price of my ordered Cybertruck:

It wasn't mine (I tweeted at the owner on Twitter using my @NastyMining account) and I haven't actually purchased one yet, nor do they accept Bitcoin yet so we'll see how it all goes.  I am still on the preorder list.  I would place the odds at about 60/40 of me obtaining a Cybertruck this year.  The deciding factor being whether or not I want to pay $20,000 for a Foundation Series truck to get it sooner or not.  While I do want it today, I also want the best product available, and given the advances in their 4680 batteries planned for the near future, it could add 10% to the range of the vehicle to just wait and get their latest 4680 revision batteries.  So a decision I'll have to make is whether to wait for a better product, or pay more to have a worse product immediately.  I'm still not decided, but Bitcoin's price the day I get the email will also be a factor.

Let me explain the pricing I have listed.  The day I ordered a Cybertruck I looked at the price and exchange rate and came up with a price.  Since that time both Bitcoin and the cost of the Cybertruck have risen, but Bitcoin has risen more, hence the price being cheaper today in Bitcoin.  I included this because 1) this topic would be moved if it weren't about Bitcoin and your boy gots to get his $, & 2) it shows that a rising Bitcoin price over time incentivizes Bitcoiners to hold out for favorable exchange rates.  Had I converted the funds to USD immediately instead of holding BTC I would not only not have enough USD for the purchase of the truck at the new pricing, but I also would have less BTC.  It was definitely a smart move (to the tune of $200,000 so far) to choose to hold BTC instead of USD for this purchase.
1066  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 05, 2024, 01:50:14 PM
That game was stunning!
The Nuggets truly showed the heart of a champion in this on! Being down 105 : 123 with about 6min to go and then let the Warriors make only 4 more points is quite an accomplishment. The Warriors has 44 points in the 3rd then and 4 points in the final 6 minutes, that really is some crazy stat I think!
Jokic's last shot will surely be in every highlight reel of his career. Normally he is always very collected and almost looks bored but after this shot he went into a crazy celebration frenzy as well.  Grin

The last part was stunning and it was an amazing play by the Joker himself because he just managed to make that crucial shot and you can clearly see on his face that he was so happy he made that shot for the win. It's rare to see someone who made that shot live especially when the game is tied and they only have a few seconds to take the shot. But that's not a wonder for the NBA because they cannot be given enough space or else they sink the shot in your face and win the game.

I just now saw the highlight of what happened. I turned the game off with a few minutes left because Denver was down by so much that I threw in the towel despite having multiple parlays depending on the outcome of the game. Now I see they made a miraculous comeback and got the win. Can’t say I’m mad at it. Joker came through in the clutch.
1067  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 05, 2024, 02:35:14 AM
I’m watching this Milwaukee Bucks vs San Antonio Spurs game and I’m pretty surprised that the Spurs are managing to stay with them as it’s currently a 1 point game with only a couple minutes left. The story of the night though has to be Wemby going around his back to get by Dame and dunk on Lopez. That’ll be on Sportscenter.
1068  Economy / Reputation / Re: People on this site are questioning my education because they are stupid. on: January 04, 2024, 09:48:58 PM
I’m confused why you care if someone believes you have a phd or not. Do you need their approval for something? Most people here probably don’t care one way or the other what your educational background is. Other than hurting your feelings, is there some other thing they have done that you feel needs intervention?
1069  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: January 04, 2024, 09:44:15 PM
With the latest Easter egg going around showing you can break the windows on the Cybertruck displayed on the touchscreen by repeatedly tapping it, I thought I’d show an Easter egg I saw when checking out the Cybertruck. I took this picture showing that when you open the door and roll down the window, it stops at a point where the remaining exposed window looks like a Cybertruck.

1070  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [A POLL] Without Chances of Making Money, Will you still be gambling? on: January 04, 2024, 09:41:11 PM
I voted no. While I don’t gamble for the financial aspect of it, most of my gambling is done via sports betting. The entertainment lies in having money on the line when you watch the game. Without money on the line you would need some other motivating factor. Perhaps a leaderboard of correct predictions or something like that.
1071  Economy / Gambling / Re: Which Casino and Sportsbook have the best UI? Which others can improve? on: January 04, 2024, 08:35:34 PM
Wanted everyone's opinion about which Casino and Sportsbook have the best UI. What is their best feature and which casino and sportsbook do you like but want to see improvement when it comes to UI or features?

UI means User interface.

I haven't had too many forays into the gambling world but I have used a couple sites.  My all time favorite was directbet.eu.  That site was setup to be trustless (for the most part) and transparent while not needing an individual's information outside of their Bitcoin address.  I would love to see another casino pick up where they left off.

I currently use Stake.us (or .com link in my signature) and I have never had any problems with them, so as far as I'm concerned they have a great user interface, reputation, and odds that make it my choice for the best online casino, not to mention all their games, both exclusive and common to other casinos.

Apparently, David Hasselhoff reacts to acceleration faster than his passenger... So funny!

I remember I was hooked on that show.

All I remember from Knight Rider is a music refrain and lights...those lights...oh my!

I enjoyed that show as well and the corniness of it was right in line with 80s expectations.  Here's a little insider knowledge for you...  Some time after doing this show David Hasselhoff started going by the Hoff instead of Hasselhoff.  Do you know why?  Because it was less of a hassle.  (queue drums)

The stars are aligned for $200k Bitcoin in 2025.

It definitely appears that way.  Sure, there is still the BTC the US government is sitting on & the mtgox coins that need to be distributed, but there's a whole lot of demand and the halving coming up.  It will be a fight for sure which way the market will go, but I agree it is looking good for $200K in 2025.
1073  Economy / Speculation / Re: WSB Style Best Bitcoin Related Stock Picks for 2024 on: January 04, 2024, 08:00:09 PM
I believe that stocks are quite foreign to me, I am a bitcoin investor so why would I need stocks at all, doesn't really mean anything to me and I should be considering that as secondary type of investment and nothing good. I get that some people still do invest into them, but that doesn't mean I have to as well, I believe that we are going to end up with losing some money and even time with them.

I think it is much better if we keep on investing directly bitcoin itself, which means I will be making some good money. I hope that we could be considering bitcoin as the future of investment world, everyone all around the world should get into it, there is nothing shady about it's price, and it is as honest of an asset as it gets.

Bitcoin is pretty volatile and doesn't kick off any actual income, so if you invest in Bitcoin only then you will forever be reducing the amount of BTC you own.  Whereas with stocks you can build a portfolio that can generate dividend income so that you can live off the dividends while not having to reduce your ownership stake in the company.  This is why I think stocks are arguably even more important that Bitcoin for your investment portfolio as they represent a sustainable form of income, whereas Bitcoin is a speculative investment.  That being said, as someone who owns Bitcoin directly, there isn't much reason for me to own Bitcoin stocks, as that would go against my diversification plan.
1074  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Shared games helped you before? on: January 04, 2024, 07:57:24 PM
Just as the title said I won't be consuming much of your time this evening and is just something I will like us to have a cool discussion, last year which is about months ago and there (is) was a friend of mine who is dawn routed in games prediction and has no money to be placing much bet on those game, so what he always does is call me and asked me to staked whatever amount I am pleased to stake with maybe if I win I should send whatever my mind tells me to do. Although he didn't request any specific percentage if the game plays since he fully understood the terms of gambling just as we all says that gambling is a luck base game or chance base game which you and I can't detects what the outcome would be.

Okay, I started developing interest by staking some of his games he do shared about 4 to 8 consecutive time I keep trying his games but didn't work out, like no winning has been made and he kept saying I should try last more. It was then I got weird over his failing games and stopped after that day he called me and said someone won about NGN 60,000,000 which about $50,000 with a bet of $2. Some times I began to wonder whether is my fault for not keep following him or what maybe who know what could have happened if that kept having patient to play his predicted games.

Just say let me bring this here to see how many of you have been in such situation where you have been trying for long and the day you decided not to try luck the winning will come just like a magic. Have you experience that before?

I haven't experienced any of the things you discuss in this thread.  1) Gambling to make money is a little crazy as you know the odds are stacked against you.  2) Bankrolling someone else is a great way to get all the downsides of gambling and none of the upside since you're limiting your success while expanding your ability to lose.  3) You regret not continuing to give money away so someone else can enjoy a form of entertainment because someone else won some money?  That seems insane.  Lots of people win money gambling every day.  Lots more lose money.
1075  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today I learned I'm part of a BTC cult: The Bitcoin Carnivores on: January 04, 2024, 06:56:17 PM
It is odd that they make this connection but not entirely crazy. Maybe it’s something about being a carnivore that gives you an attack mentality and Bitcoin is an attack on the existing financial system. I certainly was a carnivore for decades before Bitcoin was created, so I think being a Bitcoiner has more to do with being a carnivore than a carnivore has to do with being a Bitcoiner.

There are lots of people here who create trash topics or posts. It isn’t really something that can be addressed each time with an individual topic. If you see a trash poster, the best thing to do is hit the ignore button but if you want to save the rest of the forum from reading their trash, use the report to moderator link to let the appropriate people know.
1077  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: January 04, 2024, 06:51:08 PM
Any chance we can get an update to the subject line to something like ‘Mixers have been banned’ or ‘Mixers to be banned - update now banned’?

I don’t think this will be any type of problem for the forum or its users. I actually think it’s the people selling goods or services that will likely feel the impact of this, as it seems there will be less coins floating around as a result. I still support it though. Had to be done.

Most people want a king rather than to be free. This guy wanted a king (the judge) until the king turned against him in ways he didn't like.

Cool

Seemed like he had a long history of doing bad things that the judge even mentioned before being attacked. This is the sort of behavior that will have him serving the maximum sentence. Attacking a judge has got to be the single most stupid thing a criminal could do. I imagine his time won’t be served in a very pleasing manner after this.
1080  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you win? on: January 04, 2024, 06:41:02 PM
I win a lot more bets than I lose but mostly because I like to win so I bet on the expected outcome from sporting events most of the time. Sure, I won’t be retiring from gambling activity anytime soon, but I do enjoy myself and when it comes to various forms of entertainment like gambling, I think enjoying yourself is the name of the game.
