1421  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Corsair VS550, will it run? (NEED HELP ASAP) on: December 18, 2014, 04:19:50 AM
I wanted to know whether Corsair VS550 will handle 1 Antminer S3+ ?

ANTMINER S3+ requires 355 Watt power, and your PSU is 550 Watts. That should be fine.

I recommended to go for Blockchain. Great fees to choose from and extra securities

Just go for Blockchain

just go use blockchain, easy and simple Smiley

for security add 2FA Smiley

You guys are not keeping up with security news.

What is the average confirmation time for a transfer?

I made a transaction more than 2 hours back and it has received 0 confirmations.
1425  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: where did Blockchain.info go?!!! on: December 17, 2014, 06:46:25 AM
as a beginner i started at botcoin.org and chose my wallet at Blockchain.info at https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet but today i saw that it is removed.
so what happened?
is it no longer providing services or something?
what did i miss

Blockchain.info has had some security issues recently and people have lost their Bitcoins.
See this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=581411.0

In short, there is a bug in how blockchain.info generates BTC addresses, so it is possible for someone else to get hold of your private keys and steal your BTC.

That's why it was removed from listing.

I for one wouldn't trust ANY online wallet. Better to keep all funds on cold wallet.

The removal happened before that incident.

johoe exposed the issue in August last year, so this goes long back.

http://www.walletrecoveryservices.com/

The admin of that site is a trusted member on this forum and he has successfully helped recover BTC for many people.
They have 20% fees so if they're able to recover your BTC, you can keep 80% of the amount.

Just contact them and see if it helps.
1427  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which Bitcoin Exchange do you use and why ? on: December 17, 2014, 06:34:25 AM
After the fall of Mt. Gox ...I think this is very important Q to all Bitcoin newbies like me.

There are a few trusted exchanges, but it really depends on what country you reside in. Because sending and receiving fiat is the biggest hurdle for many of the users.

BitStamp and Kraken are trusted universally. If you're in India you can try Unocoin which has many satisfied customers, especially if you verify your identity.
1428  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: a newbie wants to choose a wallet on: December 17, 2014, 06:31:33 AM
hello, i am new to this and want to choose a wallet, what do you suggest?

For beginners, I would really suggest MultiBit. It is way faster in terms of sync speed and very easy to use.

DO NOT use any of the online wallets - and surely not blockchain.info. That site has had very serious security issues lately and people are losing their Bitcoins.
Do not trust any online wallets. Just download MultiBit on your desktop and read about creating "cold wallets".
1429  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie help. on: December 17, 2014, 06:26:36 AM
Am I correct in thinking that once this sync is complete my total will show as 3.00 and then is this the bitcoins are stored on my desktop?

Yes.

Bitcoin Core wallet can take days to sync depending upon your connection spped. The sync data (blockchain) is sized in GBs.
You could have used a lite wallet like MultiBit which syncs in matter of seconds.
1430  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How would you do it? on: December 17, 2014, 06:21:25 AM
This is what I want to do.  I want find a way to get 10 Bitcoins in 2 months.  I don't have any money to invest.  How would you get 10 Bitcoins in 2 months?  Is it possible to do some work and reinvest the Bitcoins into cloud mining?

The only feasible solution is to work 8 hours a day for $10/hour for two months. Then you'll be able to buy 10 BTC with your fiat earnings.

I hope you have some skills that will pay you this amount. Otherwise you can work overtime or double-shift.
1431  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: logical investments on: December 17, 2014, 05:20:33 AM
is there any logical thing i can invest with btc s. I am not looking for ponzi s

There is a very good post about a sane & simple investment plan:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345065.0

Basically you buy Bitcoins with the amount you can afford to lose and keep selling a fixed % at every doubling of Bitcoin price.

While there is no guarantee the BTC price will double, that's why  I said "amount you can afford to lose" Wink
1432  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.01 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE on: December 17, 2014, 04:22:29 AM
My payment for this week was exactly 7 days and 3 seconds after my payment from the previous week.

I thought  that payments were suppose to be automated so they are received at the same second every seven days.

I have experienced the same. The payments are indeed automatic but they don't happen at the same time every week. There is a gap of a few hours. Probably they combine a set of payments every few hours.
1433  Other / Archival / Re: Best bitcoin faucets? on: December 17, 2014, 04:21:06 AM
Im not in a position to buy BTC off an exchange at the moment, so what faucets do you guys use?

Rather than relying on a list of different faucets, try a faucet rotator:
http://bitcoinrotator.com/

You can visit different faucets from this single website.

Faucet rotator helps, but the faucet payments are too little for you to accumulate a significant amount of bitcoin. If you want to get more bitcoin, you should try offering some products or services and join a signature campaign.

Absolutely correct.

No matter how many faucets you keep rolling, the payments are pennies.
Instead you should try working a full-time or part-time job and just buy Bitcoins with fiat. That is much much more efficient.

1435  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to store your Bitcoin in a safe way? on: December 16, 2014, 01:00:34 PM
A quote from the article:

Quote
To allow the wallet to be restored in the event of loss or theft of the device, a mnemonic seed for a master key is randomly generated when the device is initialised, which must be written on a paper backup and stored safely.

How is this better than a paper wallet?

Japan Has a Cute Problem

Quote
Japan’s reverence for kawaii, and its close association with femininity, demands that women speak in a high, singsong voice, that they use childlike gestures and expressions, and that they never, ever challenge a man. Those who go against the grain by exhibiting ambition, brains or strong opinions are disparaged for being too “aggressive.”

i want for longterm holding. but what if that paper wallet gets wet or thrown away by mistake?

Create a paper wallet, also put password-protected wallet file on a USB drive.
Store both of these in a bank locker.
