421  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitcoin Wallet on: June 10, 2015, 10:38:07 AM
I have heard Electrum does not have such limitations and it gives more control on addresses.

mm thats sounds interesting, electrum was the one i never try dunno why, is electrum as light as multibit? because thats one of the goo thigns i love from multibit, if yes i should try it.

btw, i didnt mention blockchain wallet, very usefull & online, for me, the best online wallet possible. ( if i need to vote for an online one ofc ) Smiley

Yes, Electrum is as lightweight as Multibit because it does not store the full block chain on your PC, same as Multibit.

Another advantage of Electrum is that you can keep your wallet on an offline computer and sign transaction from it, then broadcast that transaction from an online computer. So you get best of both worlds: cold and hot storage. Ease of use combined with security.
422  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin isn’t the future of money — it’s either a Ponzi scheme on: June 10, 2015, 09:38:04 AM
An interesting quote from the article about the HODLers:

Quote
......The catch-22 is people buy Bitcoins because they think the price will go to infinity and beyond once everybody uses them, but they don't spend their own Bitcoins because they think the price will go to infinity and beyond once everybody else uses them. And so nobody uses them.
But if nobody uses them, then the price will stay stuck at something a lot less than infinity let alone beyond. So the Bitcoin faithful have tried to not only convert people, but also convince them to martyr themselves, financially-speaking, for the crypto cause.....
423  Economy / Gambling / Re: Someone should make agar.io for bitcoins on: June 10, 2015, 09:00:24 AM
Someone should make agar.io for bitcoins. Have a low entry fee per game or something, 0.0001 each time you start a new game etc. Take a small rake, make it possible to earn.

Idea: You could have it so the higher you got up the leaderboard the bigger the prize but you only win it if you cash.... then you start over.

The game is pretty simple & awesome imo.

I was not aware of this game. Just tried it and it is addictive as hell. My productivity is gone for toss!  Cheesy

.....the 500 (over a year ago) give away on Poloniex still saying I need to withdraw them (fail) Shocked

Trading for TALK is no longer supported on Poloniex, so it would be wise to withdraw them if you still can.
Use alcurEX if you want to keep them on exchange, it is the only supported exchange at the moment.

427  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is my bitcoin address? on: June 10, 2015, 06:50:55 AM
So i could choose any of these btc addresses available?
Generating a new address for every incoming transaction is good for privacy reasons. When address is used multiple times, the whole transaction history can be seen on block chain and a block chain analysis can reveal activities you were involved in, like gambling etc.

If you're not much paranoid about privacy, it is completely fine to use single address for multiple incoming transactions.

So i could have 10btc at one address and 5 btc in another address in electrum?  Or its best to keep it all in one address?

Yes, you can have your balance divided in multiple addresses or you can keep them in single address. It does not affect your usage. When you want to send the funds, either Electrum can manage the addresses on its own based on the amount you want to send, or you can tell it to use a specific address.

...which address i use for sign?

In this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1002314.msg10882770#msg10882770 you have mentioned a transaction from this address:
16yev2dQTWJVMWY2UisqBVe5Gd7gPbfG6F

In this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1025346.msg11141473#msg11141473 you have mentioned this address:
3DemdXvbncdTXDofuUatv48vxHkU53PhXH

Do you think you can sign mesage from both or any one of these addresses?

These are old posts. We will not trust any post made after recent server compromise which was on 25th May.

I have sent the admin a signed message lets hope he replies positive, i sent him a post older than 25th may also. Will that work?

If you have sent the signed message to theymos, you may have to be patient. He rarely gets a chance to look at all the stuff he receives.

You may as well post it here, so other staff and community members can verify and support you (and can stay away from hacked account until it is handed over to you again).

433  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can't send BTC! on: June 09, 2015, 08:25:48 AM
1 - Make a backup copy of your wallet file and export private keys; store them safely
2 - Print a paper wallet backup of your private keys and store it safely
3 - Try to re-install Electrum and see if the problem is solved
4 - If not, just install any other wallet like Multibit, import the private keys and be done with it
434  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: WE JUST LAUNCHED! - The latest Bitcoin store! on: June 09, 2015, 08:06:11 AM
Your site doesn't seem to have any contact details for your company. Unless I missed them somewhere.

Perhaps they're meant to be under the non-working "Support" button?

Looking at the product mixture on their shop and their willingness to report reduced price on the shipment to save on your customs duty, I am pretty convinced they're based in China.

I have seen similar products and policies on chinabuye.com and pandawill.com when I was looking to buy a cheap Android tablet.
435  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitcoin Wallet on: June 09, 2015, 06:27:39 AM
My vote is for bitcoin core, but i understand that all the HDD is an disadvantage.

but if i need to choose another one instead of btc core i will go for multibit, easy to use and pretty good & light desktop client.

I am using Multibit right now. I can tell you it is super easy to use and yes, it is lightweight.

But there is some lack of control on individual addresses. For example you cannot check balance of individual addresses. It will only show you overall balance of the wallet.
Also, you cannot choose which address you want to send funds from. For example you have 1 BTC on one address and 1 BTC on the other and while sending funds to someone you explicitly want to send it from Address1, you can't do that.

I have heard Electrum does not have such limitations and it gives more control on addresses.

I knew there were several users affected by iGot's wrongful practices and there were several threads discussing iGot problems, so I quickly searched the forum and this came up:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=940915.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1041548.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1079906.0

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1065373.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1079858.0

And these are all ffrom the first page of the search. I didn't bother to go on the 2nd page.
I hope people learn from this and stay away from this shitstorm.

Frankly I was expecting a harsh sentence.

Yeah.. sure.. he should have been burnt at stake.

Do you, and the other pro-FBI types in this forum realize that the sentence handed out to him was much more severe, when compared to those given to hardcore drug lords who have been dealing with drugs for many decades?

Yes. I realize that very well.

You seem to be taking my post with a different point of view. When I said "I was expecting a harsh sentence" it didn't mean "I believe he deserved a harsh sentence". It simply meant "I expected the court to give him severe punishment" regardless of my personal opinion. In other words, I was not surprised the court did what it did; I was expecting them to act that way - no matter what we all felt was right or wrong.

Is that better way of explaining, or you still have trouble understading?
