1461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the Lightning network working? on: November 16, 2020, 01:34:48 PM
Lighting network is as safe as just normal, typical bitcoin transaction. To be more specific, the lighting network adds another layer on bitcoin's blockchain and payment channel is created, that allows users to send transactions quickly. So, without doubt, it's working and everything is alright, the only problem that we face is that LN isn't adopted as it should be and somehow, people still prefer to pay insane fees instead of transactions through Lighting Network.

I think it will be good for you to have a look at this article: Bitcoin Lightning Network Specs Pass First ‘Formal’ Security Test

You should encrypt sensitive messages. As you know, we also use cloudflare, so, this is a must.

Btw since the secret answer is no longer considered and is even play with death, why do we still have it and why wasn't it changed? Despite the fact that I highly agree and confirm that it's our responsibility to take care of our accounts and there is no need to blame others for your mistakes, I think additional security wouldn't be a bad, especially for those who are very sensitive regarding this and prefer an extra layer of protection.

But first of all we should integrate this rule: Don't Bring Me Problems, Bring Me Solutions. This applies to me at the moment but I'll think around it and maybe publish my opinion.
1463  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Should I use mixers? on: November 16, 2020, 11:37:56 AM
You know, blockchain is an open book of transactions. Do you have something to hide from anyone? If no, then there is no reason to use mixers. If there are certain things where others know your address but you don't want to know them where did you send your money or you don't want to anyone know it in overall, then you should use mixers. It will work unless someone preys on you. Even if someone preys, then do it smartly and mustn't depend only on mixers, there are also better altcoins for this. That's my answer Smiley
1464  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL ₿itcoin for Life, not for Lifetime. on: November 15, 2020, 09:06:42 PM
Most crypto users are familiar with the HODL (Hold On for Dear Life). It's a good thing if you can HODL. I want to say HODL for dear life, not for lifetime. There is a reason why am I saying that. During the last bull run in 2017, I had more than enough funds to start a real life business by selling my Bitcoin. And to be honest, starting a real life business was too important for me since I was doing a job abroad. But sadly, I was greedy and had been waiting for more bumps. Eventually, I regret and now I can't do anything with that fund since bought a dew worthless shitcoin.

So if I HODL for dear life, then I should sell it for my need. Even I would won more BTC now since there were many opportunities when bitcoin dropped up to $3K.

What's your opinion? Should we HODL for Life or for Lifetime?
I'm saying for years on this forum that we mustn't HODL. Money has to be in circulation and you correctly mentioned that. You hold bitcoins, had a great moment where you didn't sell because you don't know whether there will be a better moment or not and we are always looking for better ones cause we regret in future if we made a bad decision at past. You should sell bitcoin when the price was acceptable for you. That way you could start a business and then you could convert your saving into bitcoins and hold them for a long time, like some companies do nowadays: They convert their assets into bitcoin.
But it's okay, don't worry. I've sold so many bitcoins in past, if I had them, I would be a billionaire right now but... You know one man bought pizza for 15 000 bitcoins. That's okay man and it's even logical, no one knew what would happen around it, no one, even 1K was an unbelievable barrier.

1466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: 🔥 The First Truly Decentralized Lottery System based on Cryptocurrency 🔥 on: November 12, 2020, 11:33:50 PM
Can you tell us more about your business plan? I know this isn't something that people talk about in public but I have some questions:
1. What's your budget?
2. What's your marketing strategy? There were a lot of similar projects and all of them failed, even serious ones.
3. Why do you think that your lottery system, even if it's better than traditional ones, will become popular?

These are the basic questions that I have because personally, I don't think that it's a serious project and will succeed. You didn't take care of your UI which plays a significant role between your and customers relationship.

You're correct in that its not something that we typically really want to be sharing, we're are trying to be rather agile with this.

1. We do not have a predefined budget. Its not a project where we're trying to disrupt or make a big impact, we're aiming small at first and will see how it goes. Our goal is to invest the development and support share of each round into promoting it in the future. Additionally, we've already invested time and money and are not planning on stopping this investment unless there is no interest in the game moving forward.

2. We're trying to make our point of difference to focus on transparency so that people can see exactly what is going on. For example, once the TRX is in the draw we do not have the access to it and its only released when a round ends and the winnings are distributed. You can verify this in the smart contract if you like.

3. Again, transparency is our major difference. We also provide multiple opportunities to win prizes that don't just depend on how much you can afford to put in. Such as early birds and the drawer bonus can be awarded as long as you've played the the minimum game entry.

Another thing I would like to stress is the game is not actually controlled by us, its purely driven by the smart contract. In fact you do not even need to use the website and can do it all on Tronscan if you prefer, so even if we retire the website and shut down the project is will still run on the blockchain and will still be perfectly playable indefinitely.

In regards to the UI, we've aimed to keep it clean and simple though we're of course open to feedback.

Just to confirm, the balance on the smart contract cannot be accessed or manipulated by us or anybody else.
Thanks for the reply. That's where I personally see the problem, you're aiming small at first. I think you'll achieve nothing (don't get wrong with me) with that strategy because this is the niche that was never taken by crypto projects despite the huge affords. I think you need big aims but it all comes with serious risks. You need great marketing!
Your website is simple but the simpleness of it looks like the website is made by beginner html/css learner. It's simple but not nice, you can make simple and very nice designs too, just do more research in UX field too, that's my advice.
Otherwise, wish you good luck.
1467  Other / New forum software / Re: Bitcointalk Beta on: November 12, 2020, 10:12:45 PM
1) Duplicate content. If the site is allowed to appear in search engines, it could affect the ranking of the original Bitcointalk, as well if create confusion - for example, some threads could be indexed for "Original BTCtalk", and some for "Beta Bitcointalk". This can of course be solved with the "noindex" tag or directly disallowing crawlers in robots.txt. This would however prevent people finding the site. But for the usage I mentioned first it would be the best solution.
Bitcointalk has high rank in search engines, there is no way any new website will be able to beat it in any result, so if someone clones bitcointalk, this still shouldn't be a real problem. Otherwise, yeah, that's a good solution.

2) Copyrights. In theory, every forum user is an author who can decide where their posts should appear. I'm not an expert but this probably would't be a problem if the "Beta Bitcointalk" appears on the bitcointalk.org domain. Otherwise, maybe something similar to the Internet Archive regulation could also apply. If this was a problem anyway, then the current staff could update the Terms of Use accordingly, so people writing in the forum would also give automatically permission for its posts to be published on Beta.
Loycev has a website that scrapes and saves our posts. And there wasn't any problem about it, right? Personally I think that shouldn't be an issue, I hugely doubt anyone will seriously complain it or has exclusive rights and ownership on posts here Cheesy
I still believe that it would be better to have an official Beta on Epochtalk back, with as much Bitcointalk content as possible (a recent migrated content snapshot would suffice, no need to make side-by-side running content updates), run by the development team. They’d be the first to see/hear the issues people would be encountering during the Beta test with Bitcointalk content, which is really our main focus, let’s face it.

We know that the scope of the project surpasses Bitcointalk in principle, but most of us really are likely to be rather more Bitcointalk centered, than striving to test Epochtalk’s forum capabilities in a general sense.
Thanks for that quote. It would be better to have official epochtalk beta but seems theymos doesn't plan to run it. Epochtalk is an innovative product and should be too, so I think we need some time to adapt on it. He could find some place on this forum to place beta.bitcointalk.org advertisement, this way a lot of people would know about it.

To be fair, I don't even know what to say. Will this CMS ever be finally finished? What are we waiting for so many years? Should epochtalk make revolution? I think yes but in reality it won't happen and sorry but it looks like a failed dream.
1468  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Paypal opening up app crypto users on: November 12, 2020, 08:34:49 PM
Would love to keep an eye on paypal's announcements. Seems, their statements have a positive influence on bitcoin's price and if we consider the fact that right now there isn't any significant implementation of crypto on Paypal and it's in USA right now (buy/hold/sell, not wallet to send or receive), then I would say that halving + paypal means that we will have a new crypto year 2021.  Personally, I am on a very positive vibes, don't like the fact that bitcoin is aggressive adopted (have my reasons, bitcoin is become a business, not a coin that it was meant to be) but still, everything has it's pros and cons.
1469  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: AI for Trading on: November 12, 2020, 07:55:22 PM
I do believe that AI can execute market trades using statistics and data prediction. But this is not 100% accurate as it also needs human intervention.

Why would an AI need human intervention?   Do pilots talk to the birds when they have an issue in their plane?

Maybe he means that there doesn't exist real AI thing. AI can't read news and analyze it, think around it and make predictions according to articles. AI is a machine that can process data but in a different way, it can't think as a human and it isn't that kind of mechanism. There are a lot of hormones, including dopamine, serotonin and others that have a huge impact on our thoughts, attention, focus, cognitive abilities. AI is written by a human, we aren't that developed to be a new gods for artificial intelligences, we are far from it. That's why I agree with him too. In most cases, words like AI, Blockchain and others are just lure for people.
1470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Twitter didn’t completely disable posting bitcoin addresses on: November 12, 2020, 05:50:26 PM
Hum. Honestly don't see how this would prevent any scams but maybe there's something I don't know. I mean, can think of a few easy workarounds: put in a QR code or post an image, or just a link that goes to an invoice asking to pay. Which I suppose, works for anyone who really wants to put an address for legitimate purposes but equally accessible to those not.
It's a total nonsense. Why do you have to disable posting of bitcoin addresses because your system seems was shit and someone was able to hack it and include his bitcoin address in posts. What if someone decides to edit posts with Paypal short links? Or emails? Do we have to disable placing of pp links and emails? Without a doubt, it's like when doing nothing is better than doing something.

Twitter disallowed users to tweet bitcoin addresses ever since that infamous bitcoin doubler scam. But it looks like you can still put them in your bio.

~snip~

This is an address left in someone’s bio on their profile. It must mean that Twitter intentionally does not scan profiles for BTC addresses, only tweets and maybe quote/retweets too. I don’t think they scan DMs, do they?
on Twitter still needs human resources to check for these wrongdoing. It is clear that Twitter is still quite weak to ensure that scams are not present on their social media sites.
Not only crypto, 18+ sensitive topics are rampant on Twitter and no one has yet handled those video clips Smiley
So don't trust any social media too much, check it carefully before you speculate on something. Even if it is a celebrity fundraising project or event, you need to verify it before making a deposit.
Same applies to facebook too and even on google, there are some crypto advertisements which as far as I know is forbidden right now and nothing has changed lately in this rule. Btw they can't control everything, we have to use our brain.
1471  Other / Meta / Re: Image issue with bitcointalk and imgur. on: November 12, 2020, 03:36:52 PM
But, is it not possible for this function to be implemented in epochtalk?
The forum already caches all images, so bandwidth shouldn't be the problem.
But I don't think Admin wants to deal with copyright issues. Now the forum can claim this:
Quote
If you are complaining about an image located at ip.bitcointalk.org: That image is hosted elsewhere, and we are only proxying it from the original location in order to protect user privacy. You should not complain to us.
It would be amazing if we were able to upload images directly on bitcointalk while posting. But after seeing that page, now I understood why it will never happen. There is a chance there he would get a lot of complains and it would be a waste of time and headache for him, so he directly redirects everyone to image hosting. Btw with our image hosting, we would be able to integrate compression and resize tools and save a lot of space while giving comfort to users.
Isn't there any image upload service provider where you would be able to get their API and implement on the website and upload from it? Ahh, I think dream will be a dream in this case.
1472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: lets imagine world without fiat currency on: November 12, 2020, 03:05:48 PM
now lets imagine world without fiat currency.
lets say we use bitcoins.
so milk price how many btc?  fuel price? rent ? and how the prices will calculated?
and if there is only limited supply of bitcoins.....then those who who have bitcoins merely will rule over others?
so your skills or value in society dont count only matters who go the most of the bitcoins?
bitcoin halving by the time so less and less btc will be in circleation....so how the world will remain sustaineble then ?
okay if bitcoin is not good to be currency then ethereum ?? well ethereum is centralised as i know ?
stable currenies?? well i dont see point of them they are just the 1:1 of the same fiat currrencies.
so where does the theory come from then we go all in cryptocurrency and fiat currency will disapere?
well this is not possible bitcoin without fiat can not serve all the peoples currecny needs !!

right now we dont have clear answere so fiat currency still rules. how we are going to control the money supply how big quantity of currency is in circelation?
if bitcoin is the future of money without fiat then everybody will have the guns and shoot each other:D just to get other bitcoins becouse btc has limited supply lol Cheesy   so i want to know if fiat currency will disapere then how the new currency will be issued? and how it will be backed?

and please dont comment something nonsense Smiley lets try to gather here only smart comments as this topic is important topic to know.
People will say whatever they want and don't be surprised if their words aren't backed by arguments, most of them post nonsense, just to post.
First of all, we define bitcoin's value into USD, right? This means that bitcoin doesn't have independent value, we don't measure USD, EURO or other currencies in Bitcoin, instead, we measure bitcoin in USD, EURO. If snickers cost one dollar, then we will pay bitcoins equal of 1 USD and not opposite, we don't define snickers value as 0.0001 bitcoin for example.
Who roles the world? Those who have a lot of money and such people are smart too, same applies to the situation that you imagined. In any way, current model of bitcoin doesn't meet our standards and I think we wouldn't have such standards because first of all not everyone has access to modern technologies and internet.
And stablecoins wouldn't exist the way they exist right now if we define everything in bitcoin instead of fiat.
Making bitcoin the major currency is a cascading waves of change...
1473  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitmain extends warranty period on all new orders on: November 12, 2020, 12:41:10 PM
If they provide repair/replacement without returning it to China.
If they do it quickly. Under 3 weeks
Then it would be really good.
How would they provide repair/replacement outside of China? One way is to open repair service centres in different countries and cities but I don't know how beneficial it can be to their business, even think that it will be a lot of expense for them. And replacement without returning it to China seems impossible right now. For these, they need to radically change their logistics, sales and at some point, business structure.
Btw returning it to China, especially right now, means that once your antminer needs repair, you are in stuck.
One of the hindrance on why i do let myself skipped out on mining activity due to this kind of reason about warranty yet shipping cost would always
be not cheap specially if you are on a far country to China. If they do said about free shipping which had SFR mentioned above then thats quite still in doubt.
Extending the warranty period from 6 months to 12 months well its good for locals or nearby but for those on other countries then it wouldnt really be that something interesting.
Putting up service centers? possible but depending if they do saw that a particular country have lots of miners.
Extended warranty plays its psychological role among people that results in an increase in sales but comes with the possible risk of getting more expenses at the same time in this service. It makes people think like: Oh, if they offer me one year warranty over six months, then it means that their product is good and they are confident that it will work at least for one year. I agree with SFR10, it's marketing strategy, we all know how shady bitmain is.

They need statistics which countries buy their product the most, in what quantities, etc. It won't be correct to choose country according to higher mining rate because you can be mistaken in this case.
1474  Economy / Gambling / Re: Chips.gg |🎰 New Slots Weekly |🎰 New Provider NetEnt on: November 12, 2020, 11:16:39 AM
I hate this website so much because it took my wife from me Cheesy All jokes aside, she was always a big slots game person while I liked poker more, and we tried to arrange her to gamble on crypto casinos a lot before and she enjoyed them as well but the max was like 2 days and after that either she lost enough money to stop and not gamble anymore because she gets upset over losing money gambling (it is so cute Cheesy ) or just gets bored. Here she got lucky few times in a row and that helped her reach to 2x of what she deposited, which now means she has a lot more time to continue gambling until she runs out of money, and boy does she get lucky! Now I am all alone watching netflix while my wife is on her phone checking chips all day lol.

All jokes aside, great website guys, definitely one of the best slot places we have ever seen!
For a second, i thought this site made you and your wife had a conflict and she left you because you ended up losing all your money. But i never think if your wife is more addicted in gambling than you. Most of woman aren't interested in gambling since they know it if gambling is too risky
Oh no, I know a lot of girls who play with their brothers' or fathers' accounts. It makes someone think that boys gamble a lot. In reality, the number of male gamblers is higher but dont think that girls are sinless. On evolution gaming tables, there are a lot of girls that gamble with a decent bankroll. And most of them are very cute, they leave a lot of positive feedbacks. Males more likely make an accent on girl's appearance and that's not considered as positive feedback here, positive feedback is: you are the best dealer, your deal like a professional and similar ones.

1476  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How long until we can bet with bitcoin in real life casinos? on: November 11, 2020, 09:58:55 PM
What do you think?

at some point people will be able to walk in a casino and just bet on slot machines with bitcoin?
or play poker using crypto, but irl?

do you think it will become a mass adoption currency or it'll keep as it is on online websites only?

of course some merchants and places already adopt crypto and BTC as a way of payment, but curious here:
how long you think it'll take to reach the point where we can bet in real life places with bitcoin?
Hmm, to be fair I haven't seen any old fiat casino that started accepting of bitcoins. More likely, what I see online are crypto dedicated casinos. Idk why that doesn't happen but seems right now we have two sides: Fiat casinos and crypto casinos, you'll very, very rarely see mixed ones, the only one in this category that I know is sportsbet.io
So, very hard to answer to your question. I know one casino that didn't accept crypto payments but instead founded a new casino but with only cryptocurrencies.
As you know, real-life casinos are often associated with money laundering and at some point have a bad reputation, so I don't think it will happen anytime soon but in 2-3 years, who knows, even PayPal accepted bitcoins and gave a huge push to its adoption.

3. Buy an ad slot in Etherscan.io (IIRC it costs around 1500$/7 days), Coinmarketcap, or some other big crypto site.

Do you think that buying slots on this kind big websites is a good idea? Maybe much better will be spend this money on ads at Social networks?

Do you think there's more traffic you can get on social media? Since you need to target those crypto users before gaining some good results and provably the one you can see the ads there are not much on crypto. So best try to advertise first on big crypto sites like etherscan or maybe coinmarketcap since provably you will get a traffic to the real crypto user guys out there.
It's not the way how cryptocurrency exchange platforms are advertised. There are a lot of things behind it and as I mentioned earlier, you need product manager, marketing manager, creative executive, etc... It's not just to ask your mate to give you some bucks and run advertisement on facebook on any website. Companies hire data analysts and all of these and pay a decent salary and believe me, they aren't silly. You need tons of money and experienced marketers, not suggestions from people on bitcointalk. If I tell you to advertise on any website and that's all, your business is popular, then no, it's very wrong.

P.S. I corrected your [ quote ] codes.
1479  Economy / Economics / Re: Can legalisation of Cannabis help US economy? on: November 11, 2020, 07:30:48 PM
It's a weird one based on the article. Also is cbd still legal (with a max of 0.1-0.5% thc)?

I think the police in the US are extremely overmilitarised, they may as well not be separate institutions from what I can tell based on the amount of legal favours the police have there.

Drug prohibition in general is just a way for most governments to prosecute the poor - if you're rich enough you're getting a drug dealer to come near your land: you're not meeting them in an alleyway somewhere. I think weed is much safer than cigsrretes too - and it smells nicer.

The $4bn budget as an argument doesn't sound much though, the US and UK spend about that funding weapons against isil (so they can fight their proxy war with Russia).
I agree with you, if you are reach and famous, then the government won't touch you. For example, let's take famous Hollywood stars and singers, celebrities in overall. Most of them use drugs, some of them are addicted and for example, Maradona, everyone knows that he uses but they don't get arrested because they are famous and they have money. And they say that law is a law for everyone? This is hilarious.
I think there will come a time when everything will be legalized like it was during the period when these drugs were first discovered, mostly during world wars.
Right now, this step will really help the economy but it's another task what kind of influence will frequent use have on people and do pros outweigh the cons? It's a thing of debate to my mind and they should seriously take it, not just because of economy.

Design is really nice but to be fair it reminds me one design that I have seen on several websites and that's sold online too but idk, in any way, it's really fast and nice, good style but can be better if you work on its further development in near future.
Btw I am amazed that I see the website with full functions but with bad ANN thread. Also what amazes me is that such a fully functional website has zero SEO right now. And a license is pending too... I think you could get a license while developing a website, makes some doubt for me, would love it if you clarify my questions.
