Things are looking good today.

For anyone looking to really smoke some Hopium, here goes.

What if the Chinese Communist Party ends up losing power from the Coronavirus and transitions to a Democracy in the next few years. What would that mean for Bitcoin.

Ill tell you what it means. We will get full legalization of Bitcoin as a currency in China, a return of Chinese Bitcoin exchanges, a Chinese Bitcoin ETF, and much more.

Percent probability of China suddenly going democratic?

Ultra ultra low?
While I would agree that "snowball's chance in hell" would sum it up, I do remember how quickly the Soviet bloc fell after chernobyl.

So there is that.

If I remember BFGMiner ran these without any additions. They might have dropped code support in more recent copies (shame) but I mined with them and didn't use Zadig.

CGMiner did need them.

Also I don't remember which bridge they used, but CP2012 drivers have been depreciated in Windows 10.

Solid citation for the humans are 96% compatible with chimps. Thank you.

I will never forget the talk that Pabo gave about the cross-compatibility between H. Neanderthal and H. Sapiens and his response to a reporter asking if a modern person could cross-breed:

"You want to know if you could... mate... with a H. Neanderthal"..... (answer was yes)

But I think my citation request was more for:

"Someone's monkeyed with nCoV and now humanity has to deal with the exposure and alteration to our immune systems (and probably genomes) for all eternity."

I think that's a bit of a stretch at this point. :-)

96% similarity genetically is made-for-tv pablum you usually get out of Nature ... it's not a science journal, it's a science propaganda and history journal.

Cite? Nature is pretty good overall and has a fairly high reputation. Yes they goof from time to time (Dog clones) but then again Science published Star in a Jar. The key is they will issue retractions.

An official version:

Furthermore, it was found that 2019-nCoV is 96% identical at the whole-genome level to a bat coronavirus.

I don't have time to read it carefully, maybe during the weekend.
From a first look at the abstract, unless there are clear areas where you can see the other 4% being of artificial/or other source origin, the idea that it is an artificial construct appears to have little support. In artificial construct, there would be larger areas of little sequence similarity, i would think.
Again, keep digging, maybe there would be a sudden revelation re other 4%.
Good paper and pretty solid support this came from an infected bat and not a bunch of Chinese vampires. Hm....

I am really tempted to drop 100 merit on the previous poster. And I don't know why.....

Trump wins Iowa caucus...lolol

Well the Dems used crap technology and it caught up with them. Probably billed as "futuristic" and would save them 10k in costs or something.

Those systems are super easy to DOS. Which is basically what has happened here. Ah well.

Um ... which part specifically?

The entire site. It's a propoganda pile. From Wikipedia:

The Epoch Times is a multi-language newspaper[2] founded in 2000 by John Tang and a group of Chinese Americans associated with the Falun Gong spiritual movement.

Yuhong Dong holds a M.D. from Beijing Medical University and a doctorate in infectious diseases from Beijing University. Dong has 17 years of working experience in viral infectious disease clinical treatment and antiviral drug research. Dong worked as a doctor in the First Affiliated Hospital of Beijing Medical University and then later as a Medical Scientific Expert specialized in antiviral drug clinical research in Novartis R&D. She currently works as a Chief Scientific Officer in a Swiss Biotech company.
And instead of submitting her paper for peer review she publishes it in the Epoch Times.

Seriously, I highly recommend vetting sites and drawing from those that have reasonable impact/sjr scores. There are too many crap journals and publications out there.

(Note: PLOS has crawled its way up to a 3. I'm quite frankly amazed)

That said, it's an interesting paper on the Lancet and on ScienceMag's preprod system, but it really doesn't tie in well to where the author is going. I'd recommend posting the links to the papers and discussing from that.

... reports of low white blood cell counts and cytokine storms leading to organ failures in some victims ... i.e. maybe attacking the T-cells aka immune system
so the HIV phase of the virus is yet to come. Many asymptomatic people may go on to succumb to secondary infections. fml. Who created this shit?!?!

Epoch Times.... Um.... pretty useless.

EDIT: Did you create and update that table by yourself, didn't you?
Please keep posting this.

Indeed, thank you for posting this. This is actual predictions that can be matched with fact, *really* cool and useful.

Well, in a subjective reality it depends on your beliefs. If you team does it, it's great and good and wise fiscal stewardship. If the other team does it, it's deficit spending and robbing future generations, and a symptom of evil greedy money grubbing people.
When your team does it, it grows the economy (sure, measured in that currency) and creates jobs (and hides that banks are bankwupt).
When the other team does it it is keeping a currency artificially low and causing a trade deflect.

- China’s death toll rises to 304 with more than 14,550 confirmed cases.

So how is that tracking with that spreadsheet that was being passed around last week? I seem to recall we should be in thousands of deaths by Feb 2nd.

Just thinking.

Is this the Corona observer thread now??

So much panic, misinformation and paranoia, the levels have actually gone up compared to the time we were still observing walls.

Pretty much, anyone who can post a web link is gonna be an "expert".

Not so prepared Stateside, according to this report?:

https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/01/31/coronavirus-china-trump-united-states-public-health-emergency-response/

"For the United States, the answers are especially worrying because the government has intentionally rendered itself incapable. In 2018, the Trump administration fired the government’s entire pandemic response chain of command, including the White House management infrastructure. In numerous phone calls and emails with key agencies across the U.S. government, the only consistent response I encountered was distressed confusion. If the United States still has a clear chain of command for pandemic response, the White House urgently needs to clarify what it is - not just for the public but for the government itself, which largely finds itself in the dark."

Interesting. Trump loves rallies in packed stadiums, this should be interesting.....

Pretty much. I remember as a kid when Liberty7 was "lost forever in the depths of the ocean". Then in the late 90's they dropped a hook down, picked it up and that's that.

So if you do lose access to your wallet just put it away, chances are it may be recovered in the future. In terms of the passphrase I don't THINK it is needed if you restore from seed, so as long as you have that somewhere you may be ok. Have to check on that.

Nope, fucking scary actually.
But it seems not Trezors fault, the STM32 micro misbehaves when it is voltage "glitched".
Basically the device is useless as hardware wallet without replacement, except when the seed is protected by a BIP39 passphrase (which is what Kraken recommends as fix/cure).

^ Krakens blog article is really very detailed and well written. You need only a minimal electronic understanding to reproduce the attack. (<- Meaning the crims will be up to speed quickly).

On the positive side, it means that people who have forgotten their trezor pin can now get access to their bitcoins.
