It's going to be fucking hilarious in 6 months when they finally ship.

What makes you think they can keep their pyramid scam running another six months?!?

Will be fun if the new Swedish guys beat them to the market too.

Link?
1562  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: First BFL ASIC! on: April 08, 2013, 03:31:20 PM
Shame on BFL

I'm not BFL you moron.

all you do over here is posting profanity

All you do is repeat the same red text saying "there's no confirmation" despite there being moderate levels of confirmation. Enough "confirmation" for a criminal trial? Fuck no, but the preponderance of the evidence points to real but shitty ASICs.

still no confirmation of a working asic product

It's going to be fucking hilarious in 6 months when they finally ship.

you do not see a problem with 6 month from now?

This is where the argument can get confusing for some. The issue isn't "Will they ever ship, EVER", it's "will the highly speculative product be worth the risk after all the gold has already been mined?".

They advertised made-to-order shovels, but they're waiting until after the gold rush is over to provide them it seems.
1563  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: First BFL ASIC! on: April 08, 2013, 02:35:14 PM
or some sort of paied BFL shill :/

Or he truly believes in this. Kind of like creationists Cheesy BFLism much?

With a community full of cultist libertards and emotionally invested manchildren, it wouldn't surprise me if there were more than a handful of uninformed people still willing to pledge allegiance to an impossible odd. Afterall, this is the community where dreams are promoted and then broken, but everyone is using a sockpuppet so they're not forced to actually learn from their mistakes, so who gives a shit, right?

EDIT: Not 24 hours ago a dude sent a complete stranger with no history and no information, $1000 on Paypal because he "trusted" him. Believe it, they exist, and instead of facing reason and learning healthy skepticism (not abuse), they deal with it by claiming it as a sacrifice to Father Bitcoin. No thanks, BFL has had plenty of time to bring more than images and promises to market. There is now nothing different between them and dank asking for loans for a seastead. At least dank was backing his word with his soul.

EDIT 2: Turns out he backed out of his promise to give his soul, so yea, same.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone, the auction will be ending in 2 hours from now.

1565  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [EDU] How to spot a scammer (Read this before doing any transactions!) on: April 08, 2013, 01:53:32 PM
HOw scammy does this sound?

BTC-e offered me a first time buyer offer whereby I sent them 8btc to an address on the promise of getting 10btc back for helping to improve traffic.
I was talking via sykpe to "btc-e.support @ europe" and sent the coin last Weds (5 days ago).
I checked my address at the time on blockchain but there was no confirmations there, it's only just occurred to me this might be a scam

Have I been complete tool? Has anyone else experienced this offer/heard of anyone else having done so?

Man I feel sick...

"btc-e.support @ europe" is not a username. What was the Skype username?

btc-e.support.eu

That is not BTC-E's Skype username. Their support username is btc-e.support. Someone simply made a new account with ".eu" tagged to the end and robbed you. Please be more careful with your internet gold as giving it over to scammers gives them more reason to try.

^^^^^  A friend just confirmed, it asks to run too many plugins to even bother looking at (typical of Korean government and bank websites). Here's a screen shot instead:

1567  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] Avalon 85Gh/s ASIC - Missed the boat? You can ride mine! on: April 08, 2013, 01:27:23 PM
Quick question, did you ever find out roughly what you will be paying per KWH? Thanks,
I'm considering bidding for more shares but am also interested in the electricity costs. Any figures available?

I've received multiple requests and waited until after the weekend to contact the electric company. Today when I called them they referred me to a website that showed the rates based on consumption. I won't know for absolute sure until I get my power bill, but I don't personally remember my electricity being all that expensive, just the gas.

http://cyber.kepco.co.kr/cyber/01_personal/01_payment/payment_table/payment_table_eng.jsp (Might ask you to run it in Internet Explorer because Korean websites are archaic and backwards).
1568  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you buy bitcoins if you live in the middle of nowhere? on: April 08, 2013, 12:58:07 PM
I don't know about your specific situation, but this is exactly where *working* for bitcoins would be useful. If you have no way to purchase them, do work for them. If you have no skills, well, that's a different story.
Sorry I do not understand. What job gets paid in bitcoins?

What are you skills?

Please be aware that the auction will be ending in less than 5 hours. Thank you.

What is happening with the 1.30 bids ?

Are they valid ?

Anyone who posts a new bid should post in intervals of 0.25, anyone who has already posted a bid not divisible by 0.25 will still be honored, but any additional bids on their part should be corrected. I hadn't noticed Lodbrok was a new bidder and thought he was just adding 0.25 to his previous bid.

To clarify once again, from this point on all bids should end in 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 or .0.  If you bid otherwise, your bid may be ignored.
1572  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bet: We will not see single digit bitcoin price in 2013. on: April 08, 2013, 11:53:38 AM
For those who remember how Matthew's 10k BTC (or more? I don't remember) bet went without escrow I encourage you all to use escrow for the bet.

If nobody learned anything from that prank, that will truly make me sad. Also, this bet is unfair to anyone but the person making it.

@OP: Use bitbet or something. The forum is not an efficient place to do this. I would implore everyone to use a trusted escrow.

1574  Other / Meta / WARNING NEEDED on: April 07, 2013, 11:52:46 PM
This shit makes me sick https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=169827.0

Not the scammer, which we are all used to, but the constant influx of idiots being suckered by them.

Please put a clearly visible warning on each-and-every-page like Craigslist does.

If you refuse to, you're compliant in the crime.
1575  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Selling 6.9 BTC For PayPal GBP on: April 07, 2013, 11:44:38 PM
What part of "Don't use Paypal" don't people get?

Call Paypal *immediately* and tell them he was selling bitcoins to you and instructed you to send the payment as a gift.

Also, thanks a lot guys. We really needed to keep reassuring scammers that there were plenty of fresh fish here. Wouldn't want them to stop trying now would we!

@Moderators: A warning in -every- thread at the top of -every- screen, yes?

I assume you mean from the thread title, because I do mention it in the post. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yep! Now you might get some attention!  Wink

1578  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] Avalon 85Gh/s ASIC - Missed the boat? You can ride mine! on: April 07, 2013, 09:17:43 PM
There was a pattern of people not following the initial guidelines ("All bid prices must be evenly divisible by 0.25.") but I wasn't worried about it because I figured it would correct itself within 12 days. Now that the auction has less than 24 hours to go however, it seems it will be quite spammy to both receive, respond to, and keep track of each 0.01 BTC increment. For that reason I'd like to ask that all betters please go back to the original guidelines and begin following the 0.25BTC increment rule.

Thank you for helping keep this a spam free auction!

RE Amir:

"Contrary to hysterical media reports, such as this recent video from the Guardian, the Bitcoin-software community is loosely governed not by wild-eyed kids camping out in half-deserted lofts but by what appears to be a rational and sober group of adult administrators who run the Bitcoin Foundation. This organization was modelled on the Linux Foundation, according to Gavin Andresen, who is currently the Bitcoin Foundation’s chief scientist. As the lead developer for the project, Andresen is paid a salary by the Bitcoin Foundation. He has been involved full-time in Bitcoin since the spring of 2011."

I didn't know we were governed. Nice. Now all I need to do is pay 10,000 BTC and I can be a member and I won't have to think for myself! </sarcasm>
