India should be worried about its T-20 WC campaign.

Rohit is in his usual knick but consistently failing to play big innings. First choice opener Jaiswal is struggling with the bat, Kohli is looking good but a lot of questions about his SR. In the middle order, Hardik Pandya looks terrible because of the way he's batting. Our other all-rounder Jadeja is also not looking good.

Video game type of an inning from Romario Shepherd could be a match-defining moment. 39 runs in just 10 balls, that's an incredible cameo and in the t-20 format it should be a benchmark for every finisher.

Not loving the approach of Hardik the batter. IDK what happens to these explosive batters whenever they become captain, you could include KL as well, for some bizarre reason they turn into the anchor role.
163  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🔥 BC.GAME IPL 2024 Participant’s Exclusive Discussion Thread on: April 07, 2024, 08:54:05 AM
RCB drops a player when they perform decent, Lomror hit 33 of 13 balls and in the next match he was dropped.

No need to drop Faf or Maxwell but they could drop one foreign bowler who is not being effective comparing the Indian pacers and bring in Will Jacks then Choose to bowl first no matter what and they have to chase down whatever the total posted by the opposition is the only way RCB can win matches.

Lomror was listed as an impact sub but yeah, he should have been in the Playing XI from the start because he's in hot form.

Looks like Maxwell is getting bored and wants to go in the auction, again  Tongue The problem is they don't have a good bowling line up and with this bowling line up they always look short on 20-30 runs in every inning.
164  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 06, 2024, 02:43:34 PM
Once again, Kohli is doing the heavy lifting, with Faf mostly silent at the other end. The good thing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru is that they didn't lost wickets in the initial powerplay, which is extremely hard when facing Trent Boult. I think this is the only match so far in this season where Boult didn't picked a wicket in his first over. Nandre Burger went for plenty as well. Samson has now turned to spin of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, and so far this duo has kept things decent enough (14 runs from 3 overs).

With a strike rate of below 120, i won't call it heavy lifting but a dead weight.

This kind of anchoring is not required in t-20, one can understand such an approach when a collapse is happening from the other end but with the opening slot it's criminal. You've 10 wickets in hand so FFS play all your shots and go hard.
165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🔥 BC.GAME IPL 2024 Participant’s Exclusive Discussion Thread on: April 06, 2024, 01:46:16 PM
Mainly they are struggling with their bowling lineup. Siraj is making a habit of leaking runs and not leading the bowling unit, to make things worse Maxwell outbowling him should raise some eyebrows. Green is a talented all-rounder but so far he's batting like a bowler and bowling like a batter.

Sometimes you wonder why these guys released Chahal.

Please add your reply as YES or No at the top of your reply from now on. I am sure a lot of you will say YES, but I still wanted to check with you guys first before jumping into creating one.

I believe @jasonjm answered for everyone.

Yes, but currently, there are a lot more discussion threads. Many of us will find it difficult to discuss specifically in that thread.

CSK kind of losing the plot here, they were looking alright for a 190-ish mark but SRH's bowlers are using wide slower ones quite successfully.

The last 3 overs are left and need at least 1 big over for a good finish, otherwise, things would become tough for their bowlers because of dew.

SRH bowlers have done a good job by restricting CSK to 165 runs and now its the job of the betters to chase this. No real fire works from CSK batting today. Dohni came to crease at very last moment of the innings and played just 2 balls. 165 is not a big target in T20 and win probability is high for SRH at the moment. SRH after 2 overs have scored 24 runs without any loss.
Yeah, in the second half, they started bowling slower ones and then every batter struggled to time, except Dube.

Some fine captaincy from Cummins as well. On this pitch, he used his spinners as part-timers. Still, I think Jadeja and Mitchelle should've gone with their shots but they didn't click at all and failed to use deathovers.

Edit

On second thought, the pitch is looking tough.

PBKS vs GT, GT should have won the game, the dropped catches were the cause behind losing this game.

I guess, for the backup opener, he's safe for now(Rohit-Jaiswal are first choice openers). I'm not seeing enough competition for openers because no local talent is breaking the door at the top. Ruthu is there but his chances are not looking good atm. Don't want to see KL Rahul as an opener, no matter what. Also, I believe selectors won't entertain his name as an opener, despite him opening for his franchise.

Do you think Rishabh has got any chance as WK in t20wc squad? Selectors are likely to go with Rahul but I think Rishabh is better choice in t20 format.

So far, he alone is doing good as wk batter in this ipl.
Rishab Pant is a match winner in Test matches and a quality asset in the ODI format but people forget how bad his T-20I numbers are. He has played almost 70 T-20I matches but there is nothing to see as far as his performance with the bat goes, simply disappointment. If it's up to me then Rishab and KL do not deserve any spot in the WC squad. They've been given countless chances and both failed miserably on a consistent basis so big no.

Can they get a green light? It's possible if selectors are looking for a safe option with a timid approach. Can they perform? Sure, they can because they are not mug with the bat.

Sri Lanka played very well against Bangladesh rightly because the Bangladesh team is currently very weak due to lack of good players. But New Zealand, Australia and India will be very challenging teams for Sri Lanka and when Sri Lanka plays against them I don't think they can cross more than 300 runs in any innings. Most likely they will collect less than 300 runs per innings. So there is no chance for Sri Lanka to be very happy winning the match with Bangladesh by such a high run margin. Because challenging matches are waiting for them in the coming days. They will have a lot of trouble to deal with them

Gap between pig-4 and the remaining teams keep on increasing. Only exception is that of South Africa and Pakistan. They have managed to remain competitive. Teams like West Indies, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have gone down the drain as far as test cricket is concerned. Now my question is, why these countries need to play test cricket? The ICC is forcing them, but neither the boards nor the players want to play. Money is in T20. Test format is quite a lot effort intensive, and at the same time salaries are low (when compared to that in franchise T20 leagues).
Ha! Open your eyes and look for England. Btw, in case you forgot. Windies just conquered Gabba.

Lol, Pakistan is being competitive? Sure but in a parallel universe. FFS Pakistan failed to win their historic home season. I won't go into much detail but post their recent series results.

Gill is fighting for his spot in the T-20 WC squad.  Grin

Competition is really tough. He got good starts in some of the matches, but he is yet to get a 50. Anyway, in today's match he may get to 50. Now he's batting on 46 and in all probability he should be getting a half-century. That said, the competition is really tough. A number of younger players are in contention for the top slot. BTW, GT looks all set to reach a total of around 180-200. But the big question is whether that is going to be enough at the Narendra Modi Stadium. It offers a lot of support for the batsmen.

You can't solve this short boundaries problem in existing grounds because stadiums are small but there should be enough space in new grounds for 80-90 or even 100-meter boundaries (Straight).
That's good news for bowlers if that is the case. It would even the playing field making matches a lot more competitive.
It wasn't news but my wishful thinking and I am sure we won't see 100-meter boundaries even if we have enough space in the stadium. 80-85 meters might be achievable and it could become the norm if the people at the top start treating bowlers like humans. lol

70+75 meters Straight, 65 meters square boundaries are not small per se but modern batters can clear it quite easily. Dead pitches also help it as batters can time the ball ridiculously well. The problem comes when you deliberately shorten the boundaries to 60 meters (straight), luckily it stopped in the IPL and you hardly see 60-meter boundaries, unless you are using side pitches (one side boundary becomes way too small like it's a woman's cricket).

While teams are playing in New Zealand and South Africa we have never talked about short boundaries but here usually things gone in this way I am not well aware about what are the rules about this, but we need to be had 70 meters minimum boundaries for men cricket because it is important and surely can do good for them having small boundaries are surely never been ideal situation and on existing grounds doing this is more problematic for the boards.

But, we still need some good specific rule from ICC about this because I watch few matches recently in different countries, and we have many small boundaries even in few we have nearly 55 meters which are surely not good for the men cricket specially while you are playing on dead pitches and bowlers are surely praying for hell instead of playing on pitches and conditions like these.
New Zealand is a special case, they have small grounds so they can't do much about it and it's a fact that not every stadium can accommodate 75-meter boundaries.

Usually, it's a minimum 60-meter mark from the center of the pitch but old stadiums are not made to accommodate the same boundary size from every direction, here comes the short Square boundary problem, sometimes it's like 55-ish meters which is a big joke. However, In the last WC ICC gave a recommendation of a minimum of 70 meters boundaries for every venue and it was followed accordingly.

In the past, 150 to 160 runs target was enough to stop the opponents. Nowadays, a target above 200 runs can easily be beaten. Day by day IPL matches have become a run making machine like the T10 matches. We have witnessed two matches with 270+ runs within the first 16 matches of the IPL. Who should we blame for such huge scoring matches? Is it the bad bowling or completely batting friendly pitch?
Agreed. I remember something close to 300 being a competitive score in ODIs in the past, but that's a competitive score in T20 matches these days which is insane if you think about it.

Batting friendly pitches + Bad bowling + Small grounds + Excellent batting combo is the reason why teams are scoring such high scores in T20s these days.

@JSRAW was right about Mayank Yadav. This dude is emerging as one of the best talents from this particular season though I feel it's way too early to give him a position in the international lineups.

RCB continues sinking while LSG is rising primarily thanks to De Kock, Mayank and Pooran. It's very, very tough to be a RCB fan.
If you or anyone are interested in Mayank and the possibility of his future then I'd suggest you read this fine article, this specific journalist keeps a tab on domestic and okay with their ground reports, not just PR stuff which we usually see in sports media.

It's a done deal for a ridiculously one sided test series but on a funny note, Bangladesh should take a moral victory because they took this match into 5th day Tongue.  5th day action seems like an achievement in recent times.
It is Sri Lanka who took the match to the 5th day actually. They would have won the match already if they used the follow-on rules. Bangladesh would have been all out within day 4 in their second innings. Maybe they thought to do a little batting practice and decided to bat for the second innings instead of applying the follow-on rules.

I'd also add that SL and BAN should think about boycotting Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur because of team spirit in rivalry. Hint: DC vs CSK  Grin
Looks like Pathirana used all his energy to take the catch and to tie the friendly bond with Bangladesh again Cheesy.
Unfortunately, nowadays teams hardly opt for follow-on and it has become a norm. In recent times I also don't remember any follow on scenario. 4th inning pitch is never easy on spin track so can't blame the Lankans as well.

Oh well, at least Pathirana didn't celebrate that catch. It was a stunning catch tho, maybe a brain fade moment from the young speedster.  Grin

So far, another good outing for Mayank Yadav. In very short time he's wining everyone and making a good case for early India's call up. Might give lot of hard time to Siraj, there might be a chance of Mayank securing 2nd seamer option in the playing XI.

Still, i'd very much prefer seeing him in BGT later this year.

If someone is building up their own T-20 World XI then without any doubt SKY, Pooran and Klassen should be in the roster every single time.

SKY is missing the action but Pooran and Klassen are having a field time in franchise cricket. I hope the latter 2 guys continue this amazing run in the T-20 WC too, as a neutral both are incredibly fun to watch.
