1601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can Solana hit $40 this year? on: March 24, 2023, 09:54:54 PM
I always see these posts about coins hitting a certain fiat dollar amount.  The problem is that it's all dependent on bitcoin usd value.  People need to stop trying to pin point a usd value for altcoins and start trying to hit sat price.  If bitcoin goes up alts do too.  If bitcoin goes down so do alts.  The trick is the in between.
1602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What could have happened to all meme coins on: March 24, 2023, 09:50:09 PM
I am wondering what the fate of projects like Volt inu, Baby Doge and other meme coins would have been if Elon Musk never supported Doge coin, would Shiba inu ever made it to top 20? What would have happen to meme coins? Will there ever be any if Elon never existed?

Do ypu really have to ask this question?  Buying something like baby doge should all but bankrupt anyone who buys that to begin with.  They are coins built upon jokes what did you really expect to happen with these coins?  It was a fad that died in 2021 get with the picture.

Close games.

This is the reason why I am always doubting about betting against the Orlando Magic. Damn, they are really strong when they are being cornered. The Magic won by 5 points against the Knicks with a frustrated Julius Randle. (again) I like the competitive spirit but he must control it.
Lost my bet on the Knicks.

Nets versus the Cavaliers was also a close one. The Nets wasted an almost-win game. First, they let Mitchell create a deuce and1. Then when he missed the free throw, no one box him out for the rebound, they are lucky both his shot missed but LeVert caught the loose ball and found an open Isaac Okoro to shoot the game-winner three.
Sadly, the spread was not covered. Cavs won by 2, I need 3.  Cry

My only win was the Clippers, thankfully. Even without PG13, Kawhi Leonard and Westbrook stepped up their game. Bones Hyland also contributed a 16-point, 26 minutes game time. I think they should start giving him more minutes like that.

I won 2 of the 3 bets I made.  Last night I lost on the knick game too.  As a knick fan it's tough not betting them but I've hit a couple snags lately with them being on the wrong side of the spread.  Going to lay off them going forward until we get to the playoffs and see where they sit.  Still looking at the games tonight will chip in, in a bit on my 3 picks for tonight.
1604  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 24, 2023, 09:44:00 PM
The west is so close right now that 8th Mavs have 36 wins and 37 losses, but 9th Pelicans and 10th Lakers and 11th Thunder has the same, and 12th Jazz has 35-37 so if they win the next game it's the same.

It's insane to think so many teams are not just close but at exactly the same games, Lakers could literally be a top 8 seed, or could be out based on just a win or a loss. Hell 6th which is out of play-in and will be in playoff for sure, is Warriors with 38 wins and 36 losses, so they are mere 2 game away from it, any team below could reach there as well, we still have time. It's close up until 4th which is Suns that have 38 wins and 34 losses, if they go on a losing streak and someone else wins, that low team could end up going up 5-6 positions all at once if they are lucky.

This has been one of the best endings to a season that I can remember.  Having so many teams right up against each other is gonna be like bonus playoff basketball for the next 2 weeks.  Going to be some drama shifts in who is going to the playoffs and who isn't in the next 2 weeks.
1605  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 23, 2023, 09:32:34 PM
Denver Nuggets -6 vs Washington Wizards = WIN
Golden State Warriors vs Dallas Mavericks ML = LOST
Philadelphia 76ers -3 vs Chicago Bulls = WIN
Phoenix Suns vs Los Angeles Lakers ML = WIN

Got lucky enough to with the games earlier as I managed to get 3/4 bets right. That Dallas was somehow unexpected because Kyrie Irving didn't play, Luka badly needed him.

For the games later, here's mine.

New York Knicks -3.5 vs Orlando Magic
Cleveland Cavaliers -3.5 vs Brooklyn Nets
Oklahoma City Thunder ML vs Los Angeles Clippers

Weirdly enough I just made my 3 bets for the night and they are exactly the same as yours.  I never ever pick 3 road teams but with tonight's choices.  I took the spead with okc though at +4, hate taking the money line on a road dog.  Think the Paul George injury is gonna hurt them bad though.  We'll see.
1606  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 23, 2023, 09:24:52 PM
So who do you guys think is the best team in the NBA right now? Much like college basketball and the current tournament going on, I feel like there is a great deal of parity inside the NBA.  I honestly can't say who I think has the best chance at winning it all this year, and normally it's pretty easy to at least make a couple guesses.  I guess the Phoenix Suns are one of those teams, perhaps the Milwaukee Bucks are another.  Then you've got the Celtics and teams like the 76'rs.

Really odd time in the NBA right now to be honest.  I love it though.

The balance has tip to the East right now, as you have said, Boston took the lead, and then Giannis and Bucks overtake them after the all start break. Now the Sixers is pushing as well and Joel Embiid cemented his case for the MVP race.

While on the West it's the Nuggets, but they seems to struggle in their last 10 games, Memphis? Nah, I don't think they have the guts to win with or without Ja Morant. Warriors is not the same team anymore, while Phoenix without KD can't make it to the Finals.

Easy to say all those things but I still think only the top 3 teams can compete for the top in the east.  Might be top heavy but the fun part of the west is you can go from 4th spot and a home game to out of the playoffs in a game or 2 lol.  I've never seen such a tight race and that is gonna do teams well since they literally are all fighting like they are in the playoffs now.

I just read that Tristan Thompson has a work out with the Lakers this week. I guess he wasn’t kidding when he was talking about getting the band back together. It’s nice to see that he didn’t let Kyrie joining Dallas stop him from trying to join LeBron for another ring chase. I’m not sure if he can still play at a championship level but I think he’d be a good pickup at the price.

As far as I know, Thompson hasn't played in the league for a year now, and his stats last season were pretty mediocre, as he averaged just 6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. In other words, I wouldn't expect the Lakers to offer him a contract after this workout, as he's unlikely to be useful for them on the court. Besides, they already have Davis and a few other big guys who play the same position as Thompson.

Yeah but this is right in the Lakers playback.  They always do this and offers dudes like this a contract lol.  It's last second sc4ambling and hoping a prayer is answered.  Even if he was still decent this won't move the needle for them.  Gotta give it to them they never stop trying these reclamation projects though.

Missed the early games just got my picks in for the day.  Got 3 later games:

Miami on the road in Detroit laying -10 points.  Normally don't like betting double digit road favorites but I like this one here.

Bucks -7.5 against the Raptors.  Hesitent on this brook looks to be out that's a big hit.  I still like the Bucks at home so I will ride them.

And last Pelicans-5.5 on the road against Rockets.  The last place teams should be full tanking for Victor mode.  No reason pels can't take this game on the road.

Good luck tonight everyone.

Was a Bucks. 5 away from a clean sweep last night.  Tonight its 3 home teams 2 favorites and 1 dog.

Knicks -8.5 home against the wolves.  Lots of injuries over on the wolves side.  Knicks should roll

Houston +11 against Warriors in Houston.  Warriors stink on the road.  Let's see if Houston can challenge here.

Memphis -5 against the mavs.  Mavs on the road don't impress me against a feisty Memphis team.  Gimme Memphis here.

Good luck tonight everyone.
1610  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 20, 2023, 08:47:45 PM
Grizzlies destroyed them last night. The best player for Warriors was Kuminga, that tells us something's wrong. I don't think Warriors can go far enough even if they get a spot in play-off.

"Particularly on that game", I agree with you that there's something really wrong but if that will be the focal point to determine how the Golden State Warriors will behave in the playoffs, I think that's not appropriate. What I stated previously, is "in general". Of course, things might changes as there are teams that really shown improvement this season.

Not a fan of the Warriors though and I don't really care where they will end up this year, but still, it's not that we can't expect them in an off-night mode always, especially in a series game. Well then, wait for the playoffs and see how far they will go this time.

They are truly a wildcard.  They can't get their act together on the road but are fine in front of theor home court.  Their experience will help and tight rotations means starting 5 gets a lot more run together in the playoffs.  So we'll see.  Until then I'm betting against them every road game lol
1611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC or altcoin on: March 19, 2023, 08:27:55 PM
If you have a smaller stack than the answer should always be bitcoin.  I'm not saying to stay clear of altcoins but you want to build up a good portfolio of bitcoin before you start venturing off.  A small percentage of your overall portfolio can be aimed at alts but don't be silly like a lot of people and put all your money into alts.  Once you get enough bitcoin I'd start looking at polygon/matic.  Lots of good things going on with that platform.
1612  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What role does tokenomics play in successful altcoins ? on: March 19, 2023, 08:25:35 PM

By definition, tokenomics is the study of parameters that determine characteristics of cryptocurrencies (cryptos) or cryptographic tokens to create economic value. We have witnessed many successful altcoins over the years such as ETH. To make it simple, tokenomics are generalized and implemented in different altcoins as an economic model. What do these successful economic models have in common ? Does this play a vital role in any success proven altcoins ? Please let me know your thoughts. By the way, I am with the FireDAO team, in charge of the global community. Please contact me if you have any questions or interest. Thanks.

To me it's all smoke amd mirrors.  The project itself needs to be viable first and foremost.  I mean it comes into play but all these projects that inject these gimmicks is just a cover up for what they aren't really supposed to be doing.  If something seems to fancy its a dead giveaway to stay clear.  Limiting or expanding max supply, burn triggers, etc are meaningless.
1613  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the Strangest Bet You Have Ever Had? on: March 19, 2023, 08:22:34 PM
Gambling or betting is moving beyond just casinos and sports to other sectors of the economy. There is a thread here on betting for the 2024 United States election, and another one for the Oscars. I have seen people bet on movie characters and all sorts of things. This is not to say that they are addicted to gambling. I think we do it for fun, as a form of socializing. While thinking about it today, I wondered what the strangest bet I had ever had was. I remembered having a bet with my brother that he would give me $80 if I could eat 5 packs of 200g of instant noodles in less than 5 minutes, and if I couldn't, I would give him $90. What is the strangest bet you have ever had?

I can't remember any really crazy bets but my buddy would bet the strangest things.  We bet him $10 if he would eat a dorito we lit on fire.  And even worse $50 if we can take a staple gun to his arm a couple times.  I don't know if those 2lwere bets or we just paid him to do some wierd shit.  Either way looking forward to some of the answers here lol.

1615  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 19, 2023, 08:15:18 PM

They didn't start strong, but ended the regular season strong. And you are right, they were able to carry the momentum, as they were so dominant in the playoffs, except against Memphis, which was their biggest challenge at that time. Morant was just injured, things could have been better if he wasn't.

If the GSW can manage to climb to the finals again, it would be easy for them to win it because of their experience if their opponent will not gonna know what they will gonna do about how fast the GSW can adapt to the atmosphere of an NBA finals game. I hope they will be against the Bucks because that's the only team that can give them real trouble and the only team that will gonna give them problems. The rest of the team in the East will be an easy pawn for them. if they can get pass at their first games in the western conference easily, that would be a total disaster for the rest teams in the west because GSW knows exactly what to do to win the series.

Wow that's a strong statement.  I think golden state has a lot for work to do before they can say they would easily win the championship lol.  They aren't the same team on the road as they've been on the past and losing Wiggins is a huge loss for them, he was crucial last year to their run.
1616  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 19, 2023, 04:13:27 PM
Memphis Grizzlies vs Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors (36-35) will visit the Memphis Grizzlies (42-27) tonight at FedExForum. The Warriors are bad at road with 7-28 record while the Grizzlies are 28-5 at home.
Warriors key injuries: Andre Iguodala (wrist) out, Gary Payton II (thigh) out, Ryan Rollins (foot) out, Andrew Wiggins (personal) out
Grizzlies key injuries: Steven Adams (knee) out, Brandon Clarke (Achilles) out, Ja Morant (personal) out

Any special reason why you pick GSW over Grizzlies at home? I know Morant is out, but they still have a lot of good defense for the Grizzlies. 1.90 is really an inviting odds, but personally, I would pick the spread for GSW rather than ML. But yeah, an interesting pick given that they're really terrible on the road. Just pray that Steph and the gang would perform their magics on the court to give GSW a comfortable lead before the final minutes of the game, which the Grizzlies have excellent defese and ball rotations on.

He already stated some of the facts and made a point why the Warriors are just too bad on the road, yet he wagered the money line on the Warriors favor even if it's not that enticing enough even if the Grizzlies are not yet complete and while the Warrriors core are complete, that is still not enough IMO. I agree, handicap/spread are much better.

Their next match-up is against the Houston Rockets. Let's see if they can break the curse.

That's a tough game to bet golden state has been horrible on the road.  And the Grizzlies always play up to the Warriors when they are playing each other.  I'm laying off this game and just gonna enjoy watching this one.  Always fun with all the smack talking between these 2 teams.  Big game though for the Warriors.  They need to figure out how to win on the road against good teams if they are gonna compete for anorher chip.
1617  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 18, 2023, 08:07:21 PM
At this point , Kings wining the West is not a dream anymore right ? I know the chances are low and most likely it won't happen but still , this is maybe the best season they had in the last 15 years of franchise and they do have a team that could go deep in play offs.   Smiley

However , for me , Bucks are still the best and strongest team in the NBA , followed closely by Celtics who are having another phenomenal season that could end with another NBA final.

I respect your opinion for the Bucks because they are indeed a dangerous team especially if they are all healthy mainly Giannis who can track anyone down in both ends of the court. Also, there are other teams who actually improved this season too but just like the Bucks and other top teams in both conferences, they will still prove their skills and strengths in the conference finals and then the Finals.

For the Kings, it's early too tell about their chances whether if it's low or high because they are decent hence, why they managed to be one of the top teams in the West next to the Nuggets. We don't know, they might surprise us this time just like what the Celtics did last playoffs from being an underdog who swept the Brooklyn Nets in the 1st round until they faced the Warriors in the Finals.

Come playoff time we will he able to tell if they are playoff ready.  Regular season and playoffs are 2 wildly different games to be honest.  Some teams are great in the regular season but match them up against the same team in a best of 7 and they can't adjust game by game.  Usually happens to young or playoff inexperienced teams.  Glad there is new blood in the playoff water though.

Injuries are really taking a toll one the NBA as we get closer to the end of the season. I should be getting excited about the Los Angeles Lakers playing the Dallas Mavericks tonight, but I’m not sure if any of the superstars are going to be on the floor. Luka maybe will put on a show but I would’ve loved to have seen Kyrie and LeBron face off again on their latest teams.

What a beauty this ending was.

Our guy Maxi Kleber with 3 clutch free throws 15sec before the end to make it a 1 point game and then after a Lakers turnover Maxi's first NBA game winner buzzer 3 pointer.

He is a force on the defensive end but his shooting from 3 is  definitely worth mentioning as well.

Thanks AD for the "great" foul on Maxi shooting a 3, amazing.

GO MAVS.

It was basically how the Lakers team has been for the last couple of years.  They just aren't that good and I hope they don't make a full series playoff because they will get smacked around and be boring.  Was funny because as I was watching that broken play and was thinking to myself the Lakers are gonna screw this up and bam.  3 at the buzzer lol.

Looks like 2 of you just took huge hits. Purdue beat by a #16 seed. BRUTAL!!! It's such a crazy year though, none of the teams are dominant. Still anyone's game at this point as points should go up each round. It's all going to depend on who gets the most teams in the Final Four IMO.

Yeap thats me 🙋‍♂️ Purdue was considered the best team most of this year I think weren’t they?  This is what you get when you make picks based on your heart not your head..I think Matt Painter coached for 2 years when I was at SIU, awesome coach. What in the f was this. Wasn’t this the second time or maybe 3rd that a 1 lost to a 16? SMH. You’re right the field is very even which is awesome, bud a 1 losing to a 16 shouldn’t happen. Fack.

@OG…I’ll run this again next year and remind you to get in. And yes, for ESPN there’s now 0 perfect brackets out of 20 million.

2nd time in history.  16 seeds were 1-150 in history and Virginia a couple years ago lost to a 16 seed for the first time.  Purdue lost last year to st Peter's  who was a 15 seed.  Weak sauce.  Funny thing is they had the tallest guy in college at 7'4" and  FD had the smallest team in the country.  Their biggest guy was 6'6" and edey (7 foot dude) got 1 shot attempt in the last 12 minutes.  Painter is getting fired...no doubt.

So just learned Painter actually played PG for Purdue for 4 seasons, while Bruce Webber was an assistant to Keady. They both came to SIU and absolutely killed it. Painter was an assistant under Bruce till he left for IL, his one year as my schools coach he was MVC coach of the year, and had us ranked #15 in the nation, which is huge of course for a mid major. Wheelz you prob remember those Saluki teams, we were stacked back then and the MVC had creighton (& Kyle korver) and Wichita state, so was a really good conference . When he left it all fell apart. The guy can coach and recruit, he’s 413-197 career at Purdue, last two seasons being his best w 29 wins. He’s likely not going anywhere anytime soon IMO…but yeah today was his worst loss ever that’s for sure.

Yep that conference was stacked as a mid major.  Nobody wanted to book them as part of theor non conference schedule in the beginning of the year.  Parity was good back them.  Probably right but it hasn't been a good look.  2021 they lost to a 13 seed, last year to a 15 seed and this year to a 16 seed.  They've had good seasons but theor tourny runs have been horrible.
