1641  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner hardware Craigslist Scam disguised as from Canary on: November 09, 2013, 01:18:44 AM
Maybe my untrained eye doesn't see it .. but I don't see anywhere they are trying to impersonate you...
the email communication was signed as Canary
The buyer assumed it was CanaryInTheMine and actually asked the "seller" whether he was same, while i didn't see a direct response to that, the rest of the story was designed to give an impression of someone who is a reseller... that combined with Canary as the sig, easily confused people....
I shall publish email exchange later, need to clean it up first...

You are the only one who has them in stock. Wish they were cheaper by now!
not for long... I'm well under 100 now... today/tomorrow is probably the last days for USB miners.

A small amount of USBs remain... I'm down to the last ones...

If you've wanted to get some/few, this is your last chance, I'll ship in the order of payments and I'm very likely to run out today.

Plenty of blades in stock.

1647  Bitcoin / Group buys / ASICMiner hardware Craigslist Scam disguised as from Canary on: November 08, 2013, 03:57:02 AM
Wow!

I just received a PM from a forum member (1 yr old account) who apparently got scammed on Craiglist by someone trying to make it look like the post is from Canary, thus leading this person to believe they were dealing with me.

I DON'T distribute on Craigslist, so anything on Craigslist isn't from me.

Bummer, I've not had anyone try to impersonate me yet, this feels like shit!!

I have the email exchange forwarded to me by this person and if I get their permission I will post here...

Scammer posts:
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/ele/4171506568.html
http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/ele/4171497576.html

I'm putting together a quick reddit post to bring some attention to this scam, please upvote if appropriate and share this thread's link as well as reddit's as necessary.  I'd like to bring attention to this problem not only for my purposes but to prevent any further scamming as well as negative publicity to ASICMiner, and ALL resellers of ASICMiner.

reddit:  http://redd.it/1q5kr6

P.S. at the bottom of any CL listing there's a message:
Avoid scams, deal locally! Do NOT wire funds (Western Union, Moneygram).
Beware cashier checks, money orders, shipping, non-local buyers/sellers. More info

It's time for CL to add bitcoin to this list.  It's worse than wiring funds, to send btc first on Craigslist.

I'm out of Hubs. Still have some USB miners in stock.
Do you have any blades still?
Yes I do, plenty.  If I start running low I will post a message on OP and in this thread.
1649  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL calling "loyal" customers (from +1-866-723-3108) on: November 07, 2013, 10:04:08 PM
I received the same call this morning.  I was asked if I was happy with the SC.  I pointed out that I doubt it will make back what I paid for it.
I was then offered a discount for the Monarch product.  I was polite and said that by the time it will be delivered it won't make any money so I will hold off on purchasing it for now (being polite).  The poor lady asked if she could email me the code if i changed my mind later, I said sure.  Received that email pretty much right away.

I don't know what to make of this other than the sales are being worked aggressively now by BFL which could indicate cash-flow/solvency problems. (<-- this is absolutely speculation on my part, I have no info other than the sales call/tactic to go on).  The other thought is that given all the VC activity around btc, maybe they want to sell and to inflate the price, they want to show as much "booked" orders as humanly possible...  No matter what the situation, I will conclude that they will not meet expected delivery dates on Monarch because if they were able to finally deliver as promised, their sales would explode once again with people believing that BFL has solved that issue and it's safe to order.

Whatever the situation, nothing positive about this, from my perspective...

Canary, have you noticed any oddities on USPS shipping recently? Thought I'd ask here rather than PM. Of the last few USBs you shipped on the 4th and 5th, they are still all showing as "Delivered to sort facility" with no other updates since the 4th and 5th. Not that its been a very long amount of time, I found it anomalous for a few packages.
sometimes they don't get scanned in through the machines... just give it till tomorrow...  I'll also inquire about them when I drop off today's packages in a bit.
thanks!

All packages were delivered today. It was very odd, but I thank you!
they didn't scan between my post office and until they reached your neck of the woods... lazy USPS locations in between I guess...
glad all is well! thanks!

It appears CanaryInTheMine has received his transfer of shares. Confirmation and trust feedback would be appreciated.
maybe a dumb question, but how do I know they transferred? I have no email, PM etc...

Unless you were expecting direct shares from multiple sources, by checking the BTC payment from the ASICMINER address to the BTC address you provided. Friedcat only sent me a confirmation by PM.

You received a payment for 42 shares more on the 6th november than your payment on the 30th october.
Yes, I did. I'm used to seeing a message from fc (cc'ed) on transfer and didn't so wasn't sure if something changed over there... if you don't mind, plz forward it to the email addy I provided. Thanks!!

Just wanted to say thanks to Canary for shipping my recent blade order so fast that I'm still waiting here with a bunch of blades and no PSUs (stupid Amazon)!  If you're thinking about buying, buy form CanaryInTheMine!
Thank you for your comment!! Much appreciated!!! Smiley
P.S. Dropped off today's packages at USPS.

Is usb price coming down now with change in bitcoin rates.
I don't think the manufacturer sets the price due to exchange rates...
prices are in btc.

Which is fine so long as Bitcoin's central bank's client
Huh?
You are surely aware that the organisation that controls (writes and maintains) the Bitcoin client used by the majority basically controls Bitcoin.

I don't know how to comment without being rude... So I won't... Ugggg
