Castro ruined the OT. hahahaha That was close, I was thinking that Castro did not make it but the officials count the last shot.

Congratulations to the winners, don't worry, SMB will bounce back in game 2.

84-86 final score, POGOY as the Player of the game.

I thought it was still in his hand when the buzzer went off but I was wrong. Overall it was a good game. I was just disappointed at SMB wasting their huge lead again. They should learn to protect their lead.

Credit to Castro and Pugoy. They put everything to get back to the game when they are trailing double digits. I thought it would be an easy win for SMB but I just blinked and TNT is back in the game.

Congratulations to those who won their bets unfortunately for me, it's a loss for me. Better luck next game, hopefully.

We have to commend the job of Chot Reyes on TNT, although has has a lot of criticism on handling the Gilas team, but we cannot deny that the TNT has became a championship team when Chot Reyes assume the job again. So this time, it's going to be a tough battle for him but he has all the weapon to win this series.

Yes, he is a successful coach in PBA. He has done well in coaching TNT. But his playstyle is not effective on the international stage which is why he is getting criticism from Gilas fans. We will see if he still is successful now that he is facing SMB. His greatest challenge in PBA is now with SMB.

Betting Spreads are still the same, SMB is -1.5, so I like to assume that we have balance bets on both sides.

The game will start at 6:00 pm, hopefully we have a facebook live stream on this one.
So far, no injury announcement, so expect a full lineup of both teams will play.

It is good that there is no injury. This is the finals and it is better if the two teams are in full force. Though there are more fans of San Miguel, I think they are just toe-to-toe in talents and competitiveness. This will be an exciting match-up.

I am betting on San Miguel to win the first game.
1643  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 WNBA Discussion and Betting on: August 21, 2022, 08:52:21 AM
Curses. You are right!
It's another blowout game. First, the Sky did it against the Liberty, and now the Aces versus Mercury. They are done.
I should've trusted my instincts to just take the Over total score and stay away from the handicaps. I have been staring at that before the game starts and it did hit.
Congratulations to you bro. That 2 of 3. Cheers!

My initial bet was actually over but then I changed my mind to under. Should have been 3/3 but 2/3 is still good enough. Better luck next time.

Tomorrow, Sun vs Wings Game 2. I think the Connecticut Sun would also like to finish this early. I hope good odds will be shown so I can place a nice amount of bet for them.

Even without their top scorer, I do not think the Wings will lay down easily. They will surely show up with guns blazing. I am afraid I will stay out of this action but will see if the over odds will improve later. If it improves, I will take the over. Good luck with your bets mate.
1644  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 WNBA Discussion and Betting on: August 20, 2022, 11:13:16 PM
Aces vs Mercury. I doubt the Aces will let this be a tied series. For sure they will end this now and advance to the next round.
But the spreads given were +17.5 so I think I'll just take that handicap and bet for the Mercury. I wish it will hit this time.

I doubt that Mercury will be able to cover that spread. They are already depleted without their stars Diana Taurasi and Skylar Diggins-Smith, and now they do not have their starting point guard Shey Peddy because of her ruptured Achilles tendon. I am inclined that Aces will abuse this and will use the lack of defense to score more. Peddy is a good defensive player and without her, Aces will be able to score more freely.

Here is my bet on this match up

Hopefully this pans out.
1645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What’s your gambling profit percentage limit? on: August 20, 2022, 09:51:45 PM
I only do sports betting most of the time. So, I do not have any set amount or percentage of profit in my mind.  I only look at the odds, and see which is most attractive and go for it.

What I do have though is a fixed amount that I can use to gamble or bet on sports. I do not go over that amount. Sometimes, if I got a good parlay and win it is 4x, 5x. But I do not chase that, if there is no good parlay then I am good whatever odds the sportsbook has. A profit is a profit however small it is.
1646  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: August 20, 2022, 09:30:34 PM
The wait is over guys, odds are already out just now. Check your sportsbook !

SMB is indeed the favorite but a slight favorite only.

SMB -1.5
over/under 194.5

That might change a bit defending on the bets that would come, so if you like SMB to win game 1, I think -1.5 is decent enough.

In this conference SMB vs TNT is 1-1 in the elimination round. They are over 194 and at least have 10 points spread.

So if we follow this, 1.5 can be easily covered and over 194.5 is a nice pick.  I think I will go with that but I will see first if there will be any changes in the odds later. Maybe I will place my bet just before the game starts.
1647  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 20, 2022, 10:04:54 AM
They can if they let go of Westbrook. A big chunk of their budget is getting eaten by Westbrook's contract. So, it will even out if they trade Westbrook to Kyrie.

I do not know if the Nets will ever find a trade for these players. Their asking price is way too high for other teams to afford, unless the other teams are desperate to get Kyrie or Durant. I think these two will remain nets.

Yeah, if the Lakers really want Irving, they will need to trade Westbrook anyway. However, the problem is that the Nets aren't particularly interested in Westbrook, which means the Lakers need to find a third team who will agree to be part of the deal and want Westbrook with such a huge contract. Honestly, I doubt any other team would be willing to participate in a deal like that.

Maybe they are interested of Davis, however, I don't think the Lakers would let go of Davis and keep Westbrook, so in short, this trade is not going to happen as they don't agree with the terms. Safe to say that Irving will stay as a Nets and will help the team together with Durant to win a championship.

No, they will not let go of Davis. It was clear that Davis will be their main man this season just like how they run it in Disneyland. Maybe both Lakers and Nets should give their trio another run. It may not end so badly this time. The key to the Lakers is that Davis remains healthy. If he does, their trio is a monster. The Nets, maybe there will be no more drama, and their trio can work together to get their own championship.
1648  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 20, 2022, 07:15:29 AM
Jokic is always not the favorite to win the MVP, but in the end he still win the award, he already won back to back MVP award, so I would not be surprised if he still wins the same award this season. Well, I hope that stars will be healthy especially Leonard as that would make his team interesting to watch.
Yes, it's true. The prediction on who will be the winner gets more interesting if all will be playing in a healthy body. Clippers had Powell back to playing again and there's John Wall. One of the formidable teams now (if at full health) is the Clippers with a second team also capable of winning a game.
Yeah, if they can stay healthy. These players are also injury-prone. Kawhi has not played for a long time. It will take some time before his body returns to its competitive form again. It is interesting to watch them when they are healthy. Hopefully, they can claim a ring this season now that Kawhi is playing again.

Can the Lakers afford to deal now that they just extended Lebron for 2 more years and spent 97 million dollars? I think the nets roster is gonna be different next year but i'm not sure if it will be KD or Kyrie that leaves.

In my opinion, OG is a heavy favorite in this tournament. They have performed very well in the last tournaments they have competed in.

I also like to see how Reso is blending in with his new team, Team Secret. They have outrageous plays when he stand-in on Riyadh Masters. I want to see if they continue to perform well. This is a good opportunity for them to refine their strategies before TI 11 qualifiers.

What team do you think will win it all?
1650  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The characteristics of people who are addicted to online gambling on: August 19, 2022, 05:21:30 PM
Anyone who is gambling minded is as same a trader, because a trader is curious to watch over it's trade and it's desperate about watching of the trade against lost.

A trader, if a real trader, is far from being a gambler. True, they can both lost but the advantage of a trader is, they use skills, knowledge, experience and data to do their jobs. They do not use pure luck to become successful in their field. There is luck but a greater part of their success is because of the knowledge and research they have done. Every move they make is all a calculated risk.

Gamblers, on the other hand, especially casinos, rely mostly on luck. There are very few games that you can use skills to win in gambling. An example is sports betting and poker. In other games, you need to have extreme luck in order to sustain winning.
1651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Type of Gambler Am I? on: August 19, 2022, 04:40:08 PM

Don't expect all of them to be honest to share their status in the poll. It is natural that they do not have the time to learn about such topics and participate in discussions. In the best case, they will know what kind they belong to, and it may be encouraging for them to know that the majority here practice gambling as a hobby or with enough wisdom.
Gambling is supposed to be fun and not develop into a habit because problems start then.

Of course, not all respondents will fill out this survey according to what actually happened to them. but if you look at the 3% of compulsive gamblers and 1 personality gambler, I'm sure they filled out the survey honestly. This poll can serve as a temporary reference even though the number of voters is only 69 members.
the rest maybe other members are not interested in taking the survey or they have concerns if they turn out to be gambling addicts.
As you said, gambling should be a fun thing and not develop into an over-the-top habit that could fall into the category of compulsive gambler.

We should also consider that some of the respondents could be in denial of their true gambling status. They can be compulsive gamblers already but would still deny it because they do not want others to know or just won't accept to themselves that they already are.

Anyway, they cannot take too much from the survey because the sample size is too small to reflect the real status of gamblers in the forum. But I am still glad that there are some honest people that admitted they are compulsive gamblers. Maybe we can help them recover from being compulsive gambler if they could come out.
1652  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rise of Streamers in Online Gambling on: August 19, 2022, 04:28:09 PM
When a streamer uses sponsored money, I don't think it's false information because the streamer still uses real money, it's just that it's not his personal money, and if many people are tempted to play because they see broadcasts from the streamer but don't get the same results as the streamer then that's just different luck.

Lately, I've been watching different broadcasts of slot games a little bit, and firstly, I can say that it looks like a niche for losers: one streamer is a former professional Navi player (either DotA or CS), another streamer is a former porn star, etc. Secondly, I have never seen them win anything. Sometimes they win x20 or even x50, but in general the deposit always decreases. Can such content attract new players to the casino?

Maybe it depends if they are lively and entertaining when they are casting their streams. It is all about the appeal of the streamers. If they can get the curiosity of their viewers then they can attract new players. But based on your reaction, it seems that they are not entertaining enough hence you question their ability to attract new casino players.

But then again, they are ex-professional gamers and porn stars, I am sure they have avid fans and followers they can entice to play. Who knows, different people have different tastes in things. Maybe to us, it is not entertaining and convincing enough but to others, it could be different.
1653  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: August 19, 2022, 02:18:55 PM
I'm in. Anyone, I'm willing to risk BTC0.002 for SMB to win the Finals.

Just shoot me a PM or post here, I know they could be a slight underdog but I guess I'm okay losing that BTC0.002 in exchange for the fun I would experience, hopefully it will go down to the wire.

I think we need more TNT backers than SMB. There are plenty of SMB backers who expressed their intention to bet already but I have yet to see any TNT backers, aside from harizen.

I remember there was someone willing to bet 7k or more for SMB previously on the post of harizen, I cannot remember who. So, if there are any TNT backers here who are willing to bet, maybe we can match them.
1654  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: August 19, 2022, 02:56:03 AM
We should not call them as underdog anymore, this is a pro league and they are playing for the great team.
TNT will surely compete with SMB 101% and they are close enough to get another title. Exciting match up between these two team and I can't wait to see them play in the finals live. Getting ready to have some bet as well.

I saw a post on facebook that coach austria is 5-0 in all filipino cup when his team reached the finals. I have not confirmed it or researched if it is true, but if it is, it is scary for TNT. I know, it was a different team since there is no Santos or Cabagnot this time, but SMB is still SMB, and they are still competitive and monsters in the court. So maybe, because of the coach and the team being SMB, TNT is kinda underdog in this series.
1655  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rise of Streamers in Online Gambling on: August 19, 2022, 02:42:44 AM
I agree streamers are being sponsored, so basically they will promote the one sponsoring them since they are getting paid.  I bet many of us know that.  We just watch for entertainment or how their featured game works.

Some streamer admits that they are playing with sponsored money while others tend to hide it. The money involved is real, but often than not, they are not owned by the streamer.
I think it is legitimate that they receive sponsor money to promote the casino in question, however if that is the case then they need to reveal that information, if they do not do so and then they win any amount of money this will give the false impression that anyone can do what they can do when this is not true, since they do not feel in the same way than those which are using their money and which can get very emotional after a big win or loss.

The only difference between the streamers and ordinary gamblers are that they do not own the money they are betting. They actually can also lose. But, they can bet or make it roll until they hit a jackpot or until they at least hit a profit. This create an illusion that if you continue to bet, you will eventually win and make profit. But we all know that it is a gamblers fallacy. But to regular guys, it looks so fantastic.

Most of us just watch for entertainment or sometimes research, specifically, on mechanics of the game. That is why watching them chase profit can also be educational to us gamblers.

So whether it is sponsored or not, whether they declare or not, it is the same to me. As long as i am entertained watching them or i have learned something, it is fine.
1656  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will You Turn Down Your Old Friend on: August 18, 2022, 02:54:54 PM
THIS IS THE SITUATION: You are undergoing treatment for gambling addiction for two months already and only your family knows it, then one day one of your long-time buddies who you used to accompany to gamble in casinos wants to treat you for a night in a casino, and you have not seen each other for a very long time and he just want to reminisce old times.
Will you turn him down or agree to go to the casino for old time's sake.

It actually depends on how committed I am to my rehabilitation. If I am just doing it because my family members are forcing me to do so, I will be easily influenced to go gambling again, especially with my long-time-buddies.

But if I am serious, I am sure, I will not be influenced to do otherwise. I will not waste the effort I have put into it, even with my old-time buddies. And I am sure, they would understand and respect my decision.

There are other things we can do too if they want to spend some time with me. I am sure if they want to reminisce about old times, we can do it without me getting in the way of my treatment.

About Bronny.
Quote
“He hasn’t taken one visit yet and has only had a few calls with coaches and universities,” LeBron wrote on Tuesday night. “When Bronny makes his choice, you’ll hear it from him.”
https://sports.yahoo.com/lebron-james-shuts-down-rumors-linking-bronny-james-to-oregon-013103677.html
Take your time Bronny, you'll get there.

He has to accept the reality that he is not as great as his father, but maybe one day he will be in the NBA but I don't expect him to perform like a superstar. His father is sure very supportive to him, so this guy hopefully will not feel the pressure.

But the way Lebron is saying that he will go to the team that drafts his son, I am sure, Bronny is already feeling the pressure. He is expected to be NBA caliber player because of Lebron. Lebron is a great player, and much is also expected from his son. He has a large shoe to fill in, hopefully, he can.

Let's be optimistic with that, he already has the connection since his father is still active and I'm sure that would help him if he will improve a bit. Maybe next year he will be drafted, who knows, but for now, he has to continue playing and try to achieve best improvement.

I think the target is in the 2024 draft, so he still has about two years to improve his game. Just in time for Lebron's player option in Lakers.

So the biggest NBA news today is Lebron James' 2-year contract extension worth a staggering $97.1 million.

That is how much trust the Lakers give to Lebron. Though I still question if it is worth it? It is Lebron and everything, but he is aging. He will not be able to perform as competitive as he was like 4 years ago. I guess we will see this season if the Lakers made a good move with that contract.
1658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: August 18, 2022, 02:20:36 PM
One of the most shocking events right now in the Dota 2 community is the comeback of the two time TI champion which is Topson and Ana and of course the unexpected thing is the Team they go in which is the T1 the one of the top Team in the SEA server, many people expect for the TNC but of course the management of them does not doing well so they make a lot of changes with their rooster and now Boom already found their suitable team and Fnatic, now the T1 makes an adjustment because they have a budget for sure this is a top 5 secured soon this TI.

I doubt that it will be an easy task for T1 to breeze past the TI group stages and main stages. You still have a lot of competent teams that are also vying for the top spot in TI, and I'm pretty sure it will be a cut-throat competition just like what TI has been over the decade. T1's got the good supports teamed up with both 2 time TI winners. Their chances are elevated but remember, this is still a team game and they still need to play as a team if they want to get a good placing in the prestigious tournament.

Top 5 is a tough ask to reach. They have not been playing for long and even if ANA and TOPSON were previous back-to-back TI champions, they were coming from retirement. ANA played as a stand-in in Riyadh and Arlington, but that is not enough, I think, to get back in his true form. Topson has not played professionally for a long time as well. The SEA qualifier will be the testing water for him if he can still be competitive in the pro scene. Anyway, good luck to them in the coming qualifier.

They should compensate Outsider for this error since the difference is just 0.5 points.

Why would Valve compensate Outsider? They are just butt hurt because they did not get a direct invite. It is an error in calculation and just 0.5 points. It could have gone either way. If they were better, it would not have been this close.

They should focus on qualifiers rather than this issue. They still have a chance to enter TI, it is a harder path, but the door is not totally close yet. They should put their energy into it and make sure they are qualified. And then they can have their revenge to FNATIC if they meet in TI.
1659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: August 18, 2022, 12:32:25 PM
Pogoy is good as well, he had 4 blocks in their win against Magnolia so I think he is also a problem of SMB. However, on the inside, JMF will surely dominate as they don't have bigs that could stop him unless they will double him but JMF had already made an adjustment with that style as we saw in game 7 against Meralco.

They should abuse that advantage in Meralco. If June Mar has monster games inside the painted area, Meralco will not have a chance to win this. But I guess Meralco already knows that and will try to counter that advantage by taking the game outside. It will all depend on if the Meralco will have a great outside shooting. This will be a chess match of the coaches. The one who could adjust or adopt will win this series.

@harizen, please open up the betting as there might be people who want to bet on this series, anyway it is only TNT and SMB which have pot.

My thought exactly as well. Now that we have a clear team fighting in the finals, they might want to put some bets.
1660  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: August 17, 2022, 04:08:50 PM
Is the current T1 roster or the news is real? I thought it was just a fan made or somewhat. Cant believe if that was true.

Its real. Ana has joined T1 and Topson is standin in so if somehow T1 failed to get to TI then pretty sure that he is joining another team next season. Kinda predictable though the moment T1 decided to kick Karl out then Im pretty sure that its going to be Topson. There is no reason to kick a top player like Karl unless you can get something better so it gotta be Topson

Is Topson is still in the top form though? He is out of pro for a long time, and this is the first time he is back as a pro player. I bet he has some rust in his skills and we may not see the top Topson, just yet. Even though, I hope he has enough to carry the T1 to TI11.  T1 will be relying heavily on him and ANA to carry them.
