"Trust the science", they say?

Well "the science" shows that a vaxxed and an unvaxxed person can carry and spread the CV19 virus equally just as well. And a vaxxed person can still contract the virus at a later point. In fact, there is a very good chance that a vaxxed person would likely contract the virus from another vaxxed "asymptomatic carrier" around them, who is more likely to break social distancing rules because of a false sense of trust and supposed minimal symptoms.

So if they feel protected, I'm still left wondering why the vaxxed care so fkn much about what the unvaxxed do again?

I've even seen a vaccinated person who claims to understand "the science" take a step back from someone who said "I had Covid, but I'm fine now because I have natural immunity!" Talk about fkn delusional behavior.

Pupils in here schools are tested three times a week. Positive pupils are home-quarantined if they are not vaxxed, the vaxxed ones are returning to their classrooms.
By all means of science. What is telling you this? In essence: SARS-CoV-2 is no more something to be afraid of, it's something "we" (they) want (us) to have. With such high infection rates as with the Delta variant, mutation is mandatory, as well as if the vaccines keep 90% (decreasing over time) from severe symptoms, there will be a wave of fatalities mostly among unvaccinated, followed by a wave of vaccinated deads, because the spreading and mutation will finally be over 10x as high as of past times, with most cases low- or asymtomatic.

EDIT: Let that sink in: The politicians that tell us they want to avoid another lockdown at all cost are basically driving us into the next one, with the help of their vaccination campaign. Sane minds still seem to be rare.
1662  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 18, 2021, 09:44:11 PM
Who could have thought so many woers/bitcoiners are in fact antivaxxers? Guys you do sound like you're from the 19th century. Science gave us BTC and so it gave us vaccines. No need to be afraid of science. Most of the poor antivaxxer guys have been brainwashed by the youtube videos and questionable news sites. Lots of people are going to die because of this.  Sad

Yes there are side effects. Every vaccine has them. Thrombosys, myocarditis etc all are extremely rare. Like really really rare 3 people out of 1 million. Vaccines are like that - somebody's child (or parent) will die a painful death. But billions will be protected from the virus. It's the price we have to pay...    Cool

So would you say we should "trust the science"?

I have two things to say about that.

1.  THERE IS VERY LITTLE SCIENCE!  This is why sensible people might take a position of caution about experimental drug released in haste to fight a virus with an EXTREMELY HIGH survival rate.  Calling these people "anti-vaxxers" is a strawman, as is implying they are anti-science, or saying they are "afraid of science".

2.  "Trust the science" (which you did not explicitly say, but was the basic message of your tone) may be the single least science-positive slogan I could imagine.

Science, by it's core ethos, DEMANDS you not trust it.

It's the old confusion of science and research.
Research takes risks, science avoids them.
I'm not antivaxx, but i feel ike mass vaccination's goal is mainly to save our sick fiat-based economy from its own faults.
I would never blame anybody for getting vaxxed.

Seems like some serious stress building within WO.

In Darwin just before Monsoon season breaks the extreme heat and humidity causes the inhabitants much grief and short tempers, they call this going troppo.
When the first storm breaks and brings some relief tempers cool people dance in the rain.

Hopefully we are soon to get that relief.

Set the controls for the heart of the sun.

You are right, and for years this has been a reliable indicator.

This is smoldering within all kind of communities and societies since the beginning of the Covid shitshow.
Worldwide, politicians fucked up, from "it's just a flu" to "billions of dead citizens" and resulting control measures, the ongoing media clusterfucks...
Now all they can do to cover their complete failing is to incite us to argue and fight against each other, which always worked in history, and so it does now.
Coronavirus management failed. Geopolitical consensus could have choked out the pandemic pretty soon, now the virus is spreading and mutating across all cultures and continents, which will make current vaccines more or less useless over time. We're always one step behind, because we didn't make the collective step ahead.
The story is far from over and vaccines are of temporary help, with yet unknown costs.

Lol. How does it feel being a self-righteous prick?

I'm merely stating fact.

You think that's informed consent you have?

Stating a fact or asking a question? They are two different things, Bob.

Again, what does it feel like being a self-righteous prick?

From my perspective Bob is not being a self righteous prick.  But you really, REALLY are.

I personally have taken the vaccine two times.  But I also have respect for people to CHOOSE NOT to take an experimental gene therapy that HAS NOT been studied to know all the possible downstream effects.

It is and entirely sensible position.

The actual INVENTOR of the mRNA therapy is on record saying over and over that this use of his invention could be dangerous.

If your brain is incapable of seeing the argument of someone you disagree with and instead call that person names then it is YOU, not them, who are in error in my opinion.

I do not like using the ignore button but this is getting very close.

Ribeye, Med-Rare... Prime Rib, dab of horseradish... Ground Chuck, wrapped in Bacon...

Dude.. lose the rib eye (not the horse radish though ) and go with strip steak, cut extra thick, cooked in cast iron skillet on high heat to sear and create Maillard reaction. Medium rare.
Baked potato with sour cream, butter and chives, roasted head of broccoli with olive oil and infused garlic cloves...
Smoke a fatty and indulge. Its's one of life's simple pleasures.  (in my book anyway...)

use only grass fed brisket.

Personally, I'll take top blade (flatiron) over either ribeye or striploin any day, although I do eat all 3.

It's more tender and more flavorful than either. The only thing more tender than the flatiron (infraspinatus) is the tenderloin (psoas major) which is seriously lacking in flavor.

I also consider medium rare to be overcooked.

As for the beef itself, I prefer grain fed and barley finished Wagyu, Longhorn/Charolaise cross, Limousin, or Hereford, but Angus will do in a pinch.

It absolutely must be humanely harvested, preferably on-farm, and dry aged for 21 days. I think 21 days is the sweet spot. Too much fear in slaughterhouse beef. It affects the flavor.

True that. Neighbor farmer calls the slaughterer to come for a visit to the farm, to eliminate the fear factor.
However, worth to add, ageing introduces oxidation of saturated fats and in turn produces carcinogens. This is why red meat is considered to play a role in cancer development. I think you have to eat a lot of it for a long time, to really increase your chance of developing cancer, though.

Sometimes I wonder why some of you even participate in society.

I doubt you really meant that.

It's called society (from: social, ) for a reason.
Therefore it's not called conformity or uniformity.

Quote from: wikipedia
Social organisms, including humans, live collectively in interacting populations. This interaction is considered social whether they are aware of it or not, and whether the exchange is voluntary/involuntary.

(Without taking too much from the digital family treasue)

What's your anticipated timeline, OOM?

1M? Next or the cycle after next, which is more likely. 10 years at max.

Quote
The next cycle?  Do you have plans to just retain a certain amount of coins no matter what?

Yes, most of it. It's for the future of the kids. They should spend/invest it when they are grown up. A smaller part is reserved for possible urgent need of cash.

Quote
There surely can be various contingencies attempting to deal with both the projection of how long it might take to get from here to point A, point B, or point M.. but then what to do along the way because getting to point M is not guaranteed... so does anyone want to be fucked if we get to some place short of point M and then go into some kind of going to zero scenario, which is not a zero possibility way of history potentially playing out.
Along the way i will take off a little around projected tops, for new car(s), house repairs, my exit plan (10 years from now) and last not least for more corn to be bought in future bear cycles.

 Cry Cry Cry Cry

Being nice feels good after all  Cool

Careful with the "nice" part, especially when dealing with potentially disingenuine folks on the interwebs, including some of them either wanting to get any foothold to infiltrate shitcoins into the topic, or to denigrate bitcoin in various ways or even to present misleading information about bitcoins in a kind of ongoing pattern that seems to be intended to dissuade investment into bitcoin.

Surely, each of us is not going to find the same balances, and for sure, sometimes the topics are just seen differently, but still even on a substantive level, sometimes it might not be a good idea to concede or to be too nice in terms of making concessions...

For example, there are some members who want to suggest that bitcoin should be treated the same as if it were some kind of a mature stock, and surely that could be an honest attempt at an argument, even though there is likely a lot of baloney in that kind of a framework, and there might not be a need to be going along with that framework and to be nice about it because it is not accurate in terms of talking about specific aspects of a paradigm shifting value transferring asset such as bitcoin.

Another angle are those folks who seem to be wanting to present their lil selfies as so much smarter than everyone else in terms of coming up with their own BTC price prediction models, and sure their models (or at least their short-term predictions) might well come true, but many times they might be presenting their BTC price prediction models while wanting to denigrate the actual credible and most convincing of current BTC price prediction models and to prematurely proclaim that there is a bear market towards the bottom of the BTC price correction.. .Had you not noticed?  hopefully not too many people sold at those upper $20ks or lower $30k prices to hopefully buy back at lower prices and maybe the less problematic area are merely those newbie folks who decided NOT to buy bitcoin at those prices because they anticipated the BTC price to be going lower.  Are those genuine claims of a bear market?  perhaps?  probably not..

The currently convincing BTC price prediction models include 1) stock to flow, 2) 4-year fractal and 3) exponential s-curve adoption based on networking effects and Metcalfe principles.  I would not even suggest that guys have too agree with those particular BTC price prediction models but trying to act like they do not exist and just spinning your own models as if those current credible model do not exist do not seem to be genuine ways of arguing about bitcoin or discussing it.. especially when it sometimes seems intentional.. so I am questioning why I would need to be nice in those contexts, either... do you have an answer for that?

By the way, when we go to have a beer someday OOM, it would quite likely be that we would not need to present any of our ideas in any kind of argumentative ways, because if you and I are talking about various bitcoin ideas and we do not agree, we can change the topic or just agree to disagree, and if no one is listening in on our conversation then it might not matter so much about whether disingenuine claims and arguments are being made, so we just go on and drink our beers and talk about the sheds that we happen to be building in our back yards.

On the other hand, if we are on a stage, and there are 50 people in the audience, then we might feel more investment in making sure that we are not misleading anyone in the audience about the materials and information that are being presented - including if factually inaccurate or logically inconsistent information is being presented.. Nice might work in that context, but it might not be the way to deal with matters.. even though in person people do tend to be nicer, overall and they tend to NOT be making outrageous and disingenuine claims as frequently either, as compared with how online communications can sometimes devolve in those kinds of disingenuine ways.

I agree with all of that.
I should have written "It always feels good to be nice, but it not always is good to be nice".

To sum it up: I'd try to convince a nocoiner about the sanity of Bitcoin one time. If i really like or care about somebody, i'd try again after a while. Then i just leave them up to themselves, in regards of Bitcoin.
